Thanks again, John. I remember the night McLoy was signed. I was feasting at a corporate dinner when the hosts’ General Manager for Scotland gleefully made the announcement. Good ‘keeper despite what young folk think from watching a single video. Made the best save I ever saw.

They won.

Scousers back down to earth. 0-1 at Bournemouth.

Hello, yud. Are you where your flag says you are? If so, you’re basking in thirteen degrees. We’re a bit cold at zero. Absolutely right about Sakala.

Reading @JohnMc’s excellent Wenger Stat topic and particularly the reference to Jimmy Gordon reminded me of what an old guy told me about what old guys told him about players. Rangers had “two Irish backs, you can’t get past” Bert Manderson and Billy McCandless. Manderson is in the HoF but McCandless is not. Manderson played 1915-1927, seven league titles. McCandless played 1920-1930, six league titles. Manderson deserves his place. McCandless should be alongside him, not just to resume a successful partnership but entirely on his own merits. His record is superior to many, specially some of the recent inductees. @compo probably watched McCandless’ last few games.

Roofe, certainly and I think, Helander, had injury history. Great pity because they are the best at their jobs on the books.

Glasgow Cup v Celtic (Yilmaz and Souttar both start)

The back four could have been a first team back four in an injury crisis. Bit alarming. -
I like him. He’s a disruptor. Play him from the start for a decent run of games. May turn out to be no good but we can afford to experiment.

Very interesting. I’d like it to be right. An old guy told me that old guys had told him that Jimmy Gordon of the Rangers would never be bettered as a player. Certainly sounds like a handy lad to have about. As for the immaculate Eric Caldow - what would he be worth now?

That was an excellent report actually describing the play. Sports reporters and commentators should take note. -

buster suggests you look for yourself. Always better to go to the source. Avoids analytical contamination. -
I wish to God it was. Well educated, hard working, two gendered.

Toffeemen couldn’t hold on. 2-2 and they’re a point above the bottom two who each have a game in hand.

I wonder what revenue is derived from the women’s operation. If there’s any sort of deficit, it’s not worth having. Everything the club does should be in support of the first eleven.

I only read half of the first paragraph but it was a valuable exercise because I can now identify the targets of wrath. I’d thought they looked a bit like Davie Wilson and Archie Knox and wondered what they’d ever done to offend.

Gunners 0-2 down win it in last seconds. Champions performance.

The cup final may have done for them. Was it not a cup defeat to Chelsea that jiggered Kelvin Keegan’s championship run thirty odd years ago?
-
How about an inside trio of hibbees, Mcgraw, Stein and Martin? Lot of goals there.

Not so sure about that. Think of all the words we’ve read about Clancy, Collum, Beaton and the lino whose name I’ve forgotten. All criticism justified, though. -

Nearly a week has gone by and nobody has blamed the referee. Shows how bad Rangers were. I thought Walsh did well. I believe he is wrong-footed but it doesn’t show. -

I don’t know about the Boardroom but it’s an accurate description of the team’s play. I was expecting Tillman to ask the celtic defenders if they were ready yet and would it be ok to kick the ball towards their goal.
