Match Thread [FT] Rangers 2 (Tillman 45+2'; Barisic 75') - 1 Ross County

Can’t be easy for a young chap whose first language isn’t English to do a press conference where many of the reporters asking questions can barely speak it themselves. -
Has his 20/21 medal been repossessed?

You don’t need height with fullbacks provided the centre halves are tall with a good jump. -
That is so true in both respects but other players have got to exploit the space created.

Is that an apostrophe gone off course or is young Lowry hedging his bets? -

Seems to have perfected the art of the deflected goal. They all count. -

Judging by the cup-tie at the weekend, their need is greater than ours. -

We salute your concentrationability, ov. You’re probably right, though. There’s more going on in the ground to take your mind off it. -

I wish the so-called drummer would get a red card in the opening minutes of the next game and thereafter suspended sine die. It’s irritating enough on the telly. It must be murder for folk inside the ground. -

Just the chap, then. Someone to make space for Hagi and the Golden Boy to deploy their skills. -
Never heard of him nor the other bloke which to be fair, says more about me than them.

Good old effy cup. Thrills and spills. Wrexham should have won it, the Blades were scarcely in it in the first half. Who was the vagrant dressed in grey that the camera kept turning to?

Deepdale’s not the place it used to be.

Had a look at afc chat to see how they are coping. I hadn’t realised the extent of their obsession with Rangers. What team is most mentioned in the Hibs v Aberdeen match thread? Neither of the two who were actually playing. One of their intellectuals writes that he would feel better with news that Edminston (sic) House had burned down and all inside it perished.

Agreed. -
I left to go to Walsall v Leicester. Brendan leading 1-0 by a stroke of luck. Even match apart from the fluke goal.

With a quick follow up then a couple more early second half, then a barrowload. Those were the days. I’m really fed up of clinging on to narrow margins. -
Because Holding was on a yellow and was struggling to cope with Haaland A second yellow was inevitable.

You’ve don it now. 0-2. Medicine Man, @Rousseaubans folk for that sort of thing. -
Meanwhile in another competition City and Arsenal start their effy cup-tie like trains but run out of steam after half an hour. 1-0 to City in the end though Arsenal had more and better chances. Trossard looks worth the money. Young Lewis a mighty prospect. Overall an enjoyable match.

Who is Britain's all-time number one footballer?
Scott7 replied to compo's topic in General Football Chat
Fair enough - for Evertonians. Some would say Joe Mercer or Tommy Lawton. As an outsider looking in, I’d say Andy Gray, Trevor Steven or Gary Stephens who all went on to an even higher level. -
Jimmy Shand?

See big Goldson, near got it right so he did. Arfield came on to a decent game. Kamara, unexpected flashes of brilliance and Alfie at the end - prophetic words? Hope not.

From the resumption, season 1947/47 up to 1964/65 Rangers were ten times champions, Hibs thrice, Hearts twice (should have been three) Aberdeen, Dundee, Kilmarnock and another team all had one championship. The same teams occupied the runners-up spots if they weren’t winning. Some third places are interesting. East Fife and Jags twice each, Motherwell, Third Lanark and Dunfermline all once. We all know what happened after that. As buster says, Aberdeen had a brief flurry and United managed it once. So, yes, Rangers are one of the two pikes in a pond of minnows, so, mighty to that extent though not able to compete with ocean-going sharks. A warning well given.
