gersnet article (image) Jim McLean - An Appreciation
Scott7 replied to JohnMc's topic in Rangers Chat
In those days I had no dislike for Dundee United. McLean’s team had a perfect blend similar to that of their fellow citizens twenty years previously. -
Are bookies to be trusted?

Beaten by the Arsenal at Emirates? Chelsea should stay home, stay safe. Monday’s results will be: Palace 1-2 Leicester Chelsea 2-0 Villa Toffees 2-2 City

McLean would be my corners man if football had gone down the American Football route. The grenade is another good comparison. I’ve never fired or received tracer but from newsreel pictures, it seems you don’t see the first third of the trajectory and the last third comes in a helluva lot faster than the middle. Perhaps one of the Gallant Members of the board can confirm. I’m still not certain who put in corners like that. It was from the left. Huistra? Maybe not even a winger. I’ll settle for Johnston. Where’s @compo? -

Best crosser while on the run at speed I’ve ever seen and that includes Gordon Smith but his corners don’t fit buster’s analogy. -
That’s enough controversy. The following is incontrovertible. Leicester 1-3 United Villa 1-2 Palace Fulham 0-2 So’ton Gunners 1-2 Chelsea City 2-2 Magpies Blades 1-2 Everton Leeds 3-1 Burnley Hammers 2-1 BHA Liverpool 4-0 WBA Wolves 1-2 ‘Spurs

They do that to escaping prisoners? Good description. Somebody else used to put in corners like that. Willie Johnston? Canna mind. -
I’d rather have Beaton or even Collum.

Does the Admiralty know about this alternative organisation? -
Sheffield Utd and West Brom look as if they’ve booked two places so only one more available. On the other hand Allardyce has a good record for keeping teams in the league. Just possible the Arsenal could stumble onto the down escalator. Arteta said on Friday that things were going to plan. Rotten plan.

Good God, compo. You’re a man of iron. Finished in January is my preference. -
Every one of my midweek predictions was right. It was the bloody teams that got it wrong. They must do better this time. ’Pool 2-0 Palace So’ton 2-0 City Everton 1-0 Gunners Magpies 2-1 Fulham Brighton 2-0 Blades Hotspur 2-2 Leicester United 3-2 Leeds Baggies 1-1 Villa Clarets 1-1 Wolves Chelsea 0-2 Hammers

Any miscreants are likely to retire early with suitable remuneration and if they can be bothered get employment in criminal defence firms. Do Sharper McClown do that sort of business? I don’t think there’s a firm called Shettleston and Haig but there should be.

If Motherwell are defeated 4-0 on Saturday all will be well. 3-1 might not be good enough. I’ll take 1-0 all the same. Some solace from last night. It’s the least of the trophies available and celtic are already out. Also, as my mother and my big sister used to infuriatingly tell me in my tantrums after a favoured team fell out of a cup: “It’s good to see the honours go round” (No it bleeding well isn’t. I still haven’t grown up) -
Do you mean a dram of Cardhu? The distillery’s about a mile north of Knockando. The product is more gold than yellow, though.
-
All three of them.
-
Allardyce could probably manage them both simultaneously.
-
Allardyce, specialist recovery merchant, just the man for the Hawthorns. Might have to play himself, though, to shore up the defence. And find an onion bag rattler. If I remember rightly, WBA were runners in the Alfie stakes in the summer.

A lot of second stringers in that lineup but guess what, I’m not bothered. Not all that long ago the first choice XI terrified me. -
Good night for the West Midlands. Chelsea hunted down by Wolves and City, unlike every other team, can’t beat West Brom. Baggies still can’t score, though. Had to get City to do that for them. Is Guardiola bored and can’t be bothered? Would City look north for a replacement?
