  1. Wolves have caught West Bromitis from their neighbours so Brighton might win that one. Apart from that match I could see them get no more points this season. Can Cardiff get enough? A point at Fulham perhaps.
  2. Gunners should be ok now. Sadly, Wolves have shot their bolt and the Brendanblues although improved, aren’t that good.
  3. Another thread reminds us of disappointing players some of whom cost a fair bit of money but we did get one or two players for not a lot of money who did pretty well. Baxter and McMillan the prime examples. Here’s the team. All money paid or player exchange from senior clubs. No Queens Park graduates or Juniors selected. That’s two different teams. McCloy, Shearer, Telfer, Bill Paterson, Shaw, Harold Davis, McMillan, Alec Macdonald, Baxter, Gordon Smith, Ian Ferguson.
  4. Doug Baillie and Jim Christie.
  5. ...... and at every other park as well. If Davis continues to improve, the midfield should be McCrorie, Davis and whoever else you like. Kamara and/or A N Other.
  6. Duncan Stanners was a big centre half - the new Willie Woodburn. See also Willie Moles, big centre half - the new Geordie Young. Got a couple of games after the Valentine massacre, didn’t do too badly but Mr Struth wasn’t going to take risks so he got Willie Telfer from St Mirren. What a bargain that was.
  7. You’re old enough to know better, compo.
  8. So confirming Stendel’s assessment.
  9. We’ve had a lot of poor performers when you read these names most of which I had stuffed into a no-retrieval memory bank.
  10. Shearer style defender and captain.
  11. Forgot about Rothen, right enough.
  12. To save space, I won’t quote John Mc’s post #10 but his definition and examples are spot on.
  13. Charbonnier Ricksen, Webster, Bert, Stensaas, Capucho, Black, Barton, Liddell, Salenko, Jeffers.

Perhaps but not if I took Gascoigne off and brought on Harry Davis. Peerless at protection and interference.
  15. I don’t need a pounding head to mess things up so here goes: Hotspurs 5-0 Town Brighton 1-0 Bournemouth Burnley 2-0 Cardiff Fulham 0-2 Toffees So’ton 1-0 Wolves United 3-1 Hammers Palace 0-3 City Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea Watford 1-2 Arsenal Villa v Bristol City and Leeds v Wednesday will be worth watching in the Championship.

You are noted for your tactical insight, Rousseau, but fielding twenty one players is a masterstroke.

That is a dazzling XI, compo.

    Fave XI

You've got one in your list already.
  19. United lose 0-1. As Juve and PSG know, that doesn’t mean a lot. Barce do amazing things with a football but it’s not thrilling.
  20. I quite like Defoe. Still a craftsman finisher.

Goram, Caldow, Gough, McKinnon, Cox, Greig, Laudrup, Gascoigne, Baxter, Miller, Brand. I prove my modern managerial credentials by playing Caldow out of position to accommodate Cox also out of position because Baxter can’t be left out. This must be my tenth shot at this all of them different. (You should see my reserves btw)

    It’s him or Sammy Cox.

Dawson, Gray, McCandless, Meiklejohn, Simpson, Brown, Archibald, Smith, English, McPhail, Morton. I never saw any of them play. If I sometimes feel I must have done, it’s because I listened so often to old guys constantly going on about them implanting their memories in my brain.
