I struggle to think of any player who could play as a lone striker. I know the mantra about midfielders running up for the knock-downs and lay-offs but no use if they’re starting from too far back and much can go wrong on the journey up to the front. Hateley, Miller, Prso and the like had no trouble winning the ball but it’s much easier and more profitable if the second man is up there with them. Don’t tell me playing two strikers will weaken the midfield and put pressure on the defence. Not if the midfielders and defenders are competent it won’t. -

The selection of Dessers casts doubt on the invitation to leave. -
Scarcely a recommendation, old bean.

Good. And now …. the drum.

On the contrary. The damage was done long before he got here. -

Cruelty to animals, that is. Why spend a fortune on quality beef and then ruin it? -

Normally I would agree but we’ve just had two “must wins” and the usuals couldn’t do it. -

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Plan. It might be Horlicks but we won’t know ‘til we see it. -

That would be interesting. You’re not Barry Ferguson by any chance? On reflection, no, your English is too good.- 43 replies

Sterling and Ylmaz are little better than the incumbents but I’d give that team a go but no Cantwell. Lundstrum in between Rice and McKinnon. I’d be writing off this season, though, hoping for reward next year. -

What’s your XI for Sunday, SB? -
I doubt anyone will be able to add anything to that. I hope Clement reads it. Look at the video of the players entering Ibrox last night. That didn’t look like a Rangers team. Last in was the captain looking terrified. A Rangers captain should look like this:

Unfortunately, I’m none too keen on Cantwell either. Maybe Rousseau’s got the answer above.

Many of your criticisms are justified but who would you pick instead? -

There’s not a lot Clement can do. He has to pick from the signed squad. Lack of money will prevent the acquisition of good quality replacements in January. -
Not really seeing that, GR. Perhaps not fully recovered from his injury?

The early goal is fine but it must be rapidly followed by a second and a third otherwise the opposition will start getting ideas. How often in recent years have Rangers scored and then fallen away badly with plenty of time for the enemy to recover and get the equaliser and thus the ascendancy? -

My team would be Butland, er um. Danilo, er. I’ll get back to you later with the rest. -

Would. You keep anyone? I like the ‘keeper. Souttar might be fine in stronger surroundings. Danilo could be good with a bit of help. McCausland has promise but that’s for the future. The defence is long past it, the midfield hardly exists and the attack is severely handicapped. You know, you could be right and I certainly agree that Rangers are second favourites for the LCF. My enemies will be bookmarking this to flourish at me when Rangers win it 4-0.
