Well done. One of my son’s neighbours put up a “Yes” flag. Within days the loon had hoisted a Union Flag in response. Another neighbour followed suit and a third raised a replica Regimental Colour. The silent majority spoke.

Up until as late as mid sixties the Scottish international football socks were dark navy blue, like naval uniform colour and - shock, horror - the fold-over was red. I’ve seen team photos with a narrow white fold-over and I have a vague memory of darkish blue.

“Dessers, Danilo and Lammers getting the practice in for St Johnstone away next weekend.” I’m impressed. This shows what good coaching can do. They’ve learned where the goal is and to kick the ball in that direction. Now if Beale can just sharpen their accuracy I can foresee a full trophy cabinet.

Maybe as part of the backroom staff. Who better than the strong man’s daughter to improve strength and stamina?

Who made the biggest impact in the shortest spell?

Can’t see past Negri and Boumsong although Negri lingered on making no impact whatsoever. On a different level, Drinkell, Wilkins, Spackman. Maurice Johnston played two seasons and his impact on Scottish football as a whole was mighty. -
Willie Ormond did well enough. Ian McColl did it the other way round. Success as Scotland Manager but eventually, like everyone else, couldn’t manage to get Sunderland up to the level that Sunderland thought they should be at.

Tonight we are all Red Lichties.

I’ve not bothered with Scotland since the Roxburgh/Brown years. It’s not lack of patriotism. I take a reasonable interest in Scotland rugby and cricket teams. It was the management style and peculiar selection processes that put me off. By patriotism, I don’t mean the political patriotism that has attached itself to football.

It would be interesting to know voters’ reasons for retaining Beale. Is it because they see he has the makings of a good manager and just needs some time for the new players to become accustomed to one another? Or is it because now is not the time to sack him for financial and playing reasons? Both are legitimate arguments but I’m more likely to be persuaded by the second than the first.
-
This very minute. There is an argument to let him go on to the end of the year but I’m not persuaded by it.

Some may not want Beale to continue as manager but reckon now is not the time to get shot of him. I wonder how many actually think he’s got what it takes to be manager long term.

You jest, of course and earn scornful laughter from Rousseau but auld Dick would have a plan, albeit unsophisticated and would drill the players to implement it as best they might and he would eliminate all midfield dwamming waiting for something to happen. The team only wakens up when the happening turns out to be the ball in Rangers’ net then they scurry about a bit.

The very fellow.

Yashin in goal, Puskas where Maradona is and Maradona instead of Ronaldo. There’s a better left back than Carlos. I’ll maybe remember who it is tomorrow. And how do I get di Stefano in?

Adjusted that for you.

Scottish football buses: What changes are being proposed?
Scott7 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Counting ‘buses and checking their timetables is a lot more comfortable than chasing burglars and the like. -
So, it’s come to this. The Famous Rangers have to learn from Brighton and bleeding Hove Albion, Football League, Division III (South) But you’re right.
-
Potter did well at Brighton - most do well at Brighton. Potter got sacked by Chelsea - most get sacked by Chelsea. I wonder if it’s the Club and not the man.

Bloke’s got too much time on his hands. -
The same under all Rangers managers after Walter 2 including SG pre and post 55. The team needs a Greig to drive them forward. Matches aren’t won shuffling the ball side to side unless Beckenbauer’s in the side.

In a nutshell.

Pleasing that Halliday reads Gersnet.

I assume Beale had most his expensive signings on the bench at the start because they’re not good enough. Bear in mind that Sterling would not have been picked if Barisic had been available. It can’t have been because they weren’t mentally ready for a game against celtic. They’ve got to play against them sooner or later. What better occasion than a tim-free home game? I suppose cp at New Year might be a less critical venue.

That’s like saying you didn’t see a polar bear flying over the Congo.
