yeah think your right. If kranjar and rossiter had worked out and played the majority of games i think we would have secured second place. As you said we went the full season without having a recognised player to slot into the right of the front three. Thats the problem with taking big risks with your main targets. (barton, kranjar, rossiter)

Thats the problem there is so much to see but i have very little time available if the schedule goes as planned. Sounds like an amazing place really looking forward to it no matter how brief the visit. Trying to wrangle some more time and getting the better half out with me too, fingers crossed. Thanks for the info.

if even just the one round as i stated it will still account for half of last years transfer budget. You need to keep the context of our financial position. Even £700k makes a massive difference. I asked 2 weeks back after speaking to you I think it was on here, how the investment will happen with current restrictions in place. The reply was unfortunately short in answers and only led to more unanswered questions so I kept my head below the parapet and said nothing , but according to them investment is no problem and i quote " two guys are bringing in new investment" when i asked who, i was told no more details and its definitely not DM who was rumoured at the time to be back on the scene. The business plan is a crescendo and identified as such from those in charge from the very beginning, with set aims increasing expenditure year on year. Nothing dramatic from left field has happened to divert the original plan. The hitting of targets i would say will see higher investment than last season each season for 4/5 seasons or until we hit the final aim. That has been clearly defined as the plan from media statements and actions from day one of this board. I understand we dont know how that money will be made available but don't agree that means it is under risk. The board made in my opinion no real effort in passing resolution 11(?) making me think it was not a be all and end all situation. The same stuff was all said last year and no doubt will be said next year too when we approach the window but at some point the boards actions must be the measuring stick on what happens next. As you say how the board will secure these loans(or whatever shape they take) i have absolutely no idea but i don't really see any reason to worry as nobody at the club seems concerned in the slightest (looking in from the outside that is!). I doubt very very much DK would slate the current squad as much as he has done if he didn't fully believe we can replace them. All in all with every thing we can assume from our position as fans, i dont really see any reason to think we have less than the £2m to spend that we did last season or the million the season before that. For all we know maybe transfers will be secured against euro money and freed as the team progresses through stages there are options available dependant on those putting the money up, maybe secured against assets, who knows. At the end of the day the board have stated there is money, the manager has stated we have money, the links from Mexico suggest we have money, and our short term historical dealings all show we have money and intend to continue as stated.

the team who hasnt had a red card gets an extra player in extra time. Is that correct?

Below is a link to the Wired series on data modelling in association with Microsoft. Benfica have generated £270m in transfer fees selling 13 players over 6 seasons, something i think we all agree is the correct course for Rangers to follow. Probably the weakest part of our clubs business for as long as i can remember is making returns on player investments, breaking that cycle at the club will take time and understanding of the difficulties faced, and just how far ahead of us other teams are. http://www.wired.co.uk/article/microsoft-sl-benfica [video=youtube_share;A3JQCsM2qfA]

surprised we have heard nothing so far after the youth releases being announced. Maybe we are only releasing players once their replacement is secured. Think Pena's agent said june 13th he will be here to sign on the dotted line, thats would suggest he is not available for 1st qualifier Is it possible to keep the players until after the European qualifiers 1st round then move them on before the window shuts? Its the only reason i can think of for the delay in announcing any players leaving. Wonder if we will find some of those allegedly injured were really on holiday and are coming back early for 1st qualifier and the rest of the teams holidays will be staggered over early summer.

think it finishes today If you only had 3 days in bejiing whats the one site you would go see? So far it seems to be the winter palace everyone is telling me to do, do you agree?
-
So last season we were able to spend upwards of two million while balancing the books but this year with higher income streams you expect us to spend less? Not sure how the euro money goes but would imagine the board do. Whats a full house worth? Is it split 50/50? We can generate £1.5-£2m from tickets at Ibrox alone for the one home game. So even if just the one round i would imagine the money though not life changing will be substantial when kept in context of our financial situation. The player not being worth the fee paid has nothing to do with the size of budget available, you cant reduce the budget through fear of getting it wrong. We must as you say do everything to maximise our output without shying away from our responsibilities.

If he cant speak english

Guess I was lied too then. So much for retiring

Agree with all that, if its say more than 50% of the budget that'a huge risk. Was going to write that i doubt the club would risk so much of the budget on one player, so maybe the budget is way higher than we think, but its just dawned on me we risked the majority of our budget last season on one player, so who knows. Think its fair to say the prospect of him signing has moved past speculation DB when the player is quoted in other reports as admitting hes coming

that's fine if you want to leave it wont ask again but the answer in #54 in no way answers. Its about pena specifically and not about what was said in anyway. Most portugese for example speak English quiet well. If we only sign Scottish players then we need to sack the manager because very few understand the way we are going to play. Portuguese players do as they are taught it from youth football, not sure if the same happens in Mexico. Since Scottish teams get beat pretty much consistently in Europe by teams who play the european way then i would have thought it would be a good idea to replicate European methods rather than Scottish. The Mexicans as a race have quiet similar mentalities to the Scottish(take no shit, never lay down and are very family orientated) I would say they will fit in here quiet well. Ultimately time will tell.

I did ask quite clearly if you look back at the post. What is your thinking behind such a weird statement? Why would we not want any players from these countries at all?
-
That's fair enough but I also recommend you don't jump to the conclusion and think every comment is aimed at you. You clearly never said we should not sign mexicans or portugese players so why you would react as if you did ?
-
so its fine to say Rangers should sign no mexicans or portugese players? Why shouldnt such a comment deserve to be questioned?
-
that was hard luck. 1-0 cagliari
-
who is that we are playing the now? not a bad side edit just seen. Cagliari

I believe it. That price is bang on his value. And there is nothing in our past two seasons to suggest money will not be given. We spent £2m last season. The rumours about king and co not putting in the money promised are completely false. They're on course to invest £30m over 4-5 years. Think so far its somewhere between £12-£16m invested (inc purchase). Keep in mind its in the clubs best interests to do without these loans so hopefully we can hit our targets without too much soft debt.
