General feel so far - Genius or monumental disaster?
trublusince1982 replied to Gribz's topic in Rangers Chat
there is a thousand degrees between full transparency and what we do. The way we behave and communicate comes across as we operate in a world of fear ,as if we are not a big enough draw to compete. It's a small club mentality that literally costs us millions in potential income. Our tight lipped approach leaves our online services redundant. Take the FF thread this season on transfers. At the start when posters where leaking information the thread went through the roof, creating mass excitement and intrigue. Compare it to now when the club has silenced people and the fans are bored and off doing other things. But not a single iota concerning recruitment has been effected . Releasing information after the fact excludes participation. Participation breads money. We shouldn't fear competition. Obviously there is a time and place but we are quite frankly a million miles off and pretty prehistoric in our approaches to communication. All I see is the money slipping through our fingers. -
General feel so far - Genius or monumental disaster?

Well it feels far better than the last 5 years that's for sure!! Think we are on a good path, maybe not back to where we were but on a road towards it with it insight. The structure at the club from the director of football to the youth set up and the obvious intention of moving away from Scotish to modern football regimes makes me very happy and gooey inside?? Not so sure about the majority of the signings but that's football and comes and goes. Maybe I am still not ready to settle for our position in world football so the targets feel off for me. Really don't like the level of transparency and communication with fans. Pretty sick of only knowing once everything is done, that process excludes supporter participation and from a business perspective is poor for the brand and for creating excitement . Obviously the approach of open communication would have downsides but for me far outweighed by the potential positives. With a support the size of ours and the willingness of the support to take part and hand over cash it should be an asset that sets us apart and makes us untouchable especially in our own domain. All in all a happy bear looking forward to the future -
First thought is I'm jealous.

Not so sure the necessity part is true. We had options from first team players we chose not to use them. People like hodson or Halliday can play left back he choose to go with beerman. We could have used keirnan at centre back but didn't . Think some of the injury claims where to save face for the players tbh. Don't think we will get McLean for less than they paid for Hayes either, if it is less it won't be by much. Haven't seen anything from McLean either on the park or in his stature to suggest he is a strong tackler Think the difference with PC over MW is the fact his major signings are not a risk. Alves is great and so is Pena . They are light years ahead of what we have, personally don't have a single worry about Pena. To think we will have a player that people say has dropped form because he can't cement a place for Mexico anymore fills me with hope not despair. Our players can't even secure a spot for Scotland never mind Mexico . Kind of like saying a player has lost form so not playing for Holland or France regularly so we should worry? Hopefully I'm worried about nothing as the McLean links aren't from any real sources really.

King has previously stated that he expects to see a continuous stream of youth players entering the first team year on year or the youth system is a waste of time. It seemed pretty obvious by the way PC utilised youth while there was other first team options available that he fully intends on using them. Even if we don't use the youth players the squad is very heavy in British players with more than enough Scottish players to meet UEFA requirements. As you say it's down to pedro but I would be shocked if he drops from a spine of Alves Dorrans and Pena to Alves McLean Pena, it's just not even close to as rigid and experienced. Think Mclean has 4 goals and 3 assists in 38 games that's about roughly the same as Halliday if memory serves. Will be another player on £6k a week we can't move on. Got to be better available for the sort of money quoted.

That is what the youth system is for. McLean has a poor distribution ,poor vision and an average tackling ability. I can't think of a single attribute other than being Scottish that he brings. We don't need to waste money on Scottish players to meet uefa criteria we already have literally hundreds of Scottish players at the club from 9 years old up and also plenty who have been trained at the club from 15 years old for 3 years. They don't need to be in the starting eleven. Bates is another so is the third choice keeper. We have beerman and Bajonas too. As for being against Scottish players well I would change that to " over paying for Scottish players" that are very poor tactically and also poor technically . If we do buy McLean for high six figures or seven then Aberdeen are the main beneficiaries and will be laughing all the way to the bank. We really need to learn as a club that over paying our rivals is bad business. What do you see McLean bringing that Barjonas doesn't that equates to a Million pounds worth of value? Especially since he is in the last twelve months of his contract.

would rather we beat them on the park tbh. McLean isn't even remotely close to good enough. He's a 25 year old journeyman who's level is bit part Scottish clubs. Sinking from Dorrans to this guy in my mind really changes the whole window for me. That's how bad I rate him. Jack was bad enough but I thought maybe it was the chance of stealing Aberdeens captain for zero that made it worthwhile but filling our midfield of absolute nobodies is a completely different thing. Jack and McLean is just holt and Halliday but worse. Going from seeing us have three top notch signings to two doesn't on the face of it seem that bad but when you look at the squad without that third top signing it's poor. It's such an important position. Very thin lines obviously but got to say I am completely gutted at the drop in level and am adamantly hoping it's not true . What a let down. McLean in centre mid for Rangers fuck me that's piss poor. Had hoped to have left this kind of singing behind us after all that's happened the last few weeks. That's before we even consider the fact we are wastin close to a million pound on him.

One good season! Watch yous don't aim to high now???? should have been trebles every year!! If things where the other way round I would see the past 5 years as a complete failure. Kind of highlights why we need to keep our nothing but winning mentality. If we don't we could end up like them.

Works at Morgan Stanley Asia? Maybe not AJ who put him onto us then more likely that other guy who worked there. Taylor was it?

Think the manager prefers two direct options for each position. Cordoso and bates with Alves or Wilson for CB Tav and hodson RB with beerman and Wallace LB. in an emergency we can shuffle but doubt Cordoso will be used as a left back but you never know I suppose
