  1. Couldn't agree more, don't think anyone really wants to see this.....absolutely tragic. Can't understand why anyone would have let this Q & A go ahead when clearly in such a bad way. Can only hope it is the catalyst for him to seek more treatment but I genuinely fear the worst. I'm sure the thoughts of all Rangers fans are with Paul, all the best Gazza.
  2. I was always of the understanding that Wilson was a Celtic fan when he first made it into the Rangers first team? If true, surely every chance he could end up across the city.
  3. I totally agree. Changing the management team at this stage would achieve nothing. The objective was to win Division 3 which will be achieved. Any new manager inherits the same team and the same issues in terms of transfer embargoes and the impact of potential league reconstruction. There is no getting away from the fact that the lack of progress is a real worry and if I am being honest it was the performance last week against Montrose that was the final straw for me this season. However, I think the response from Ally after the game suggested that he has also lost patience and I want to give him the benefit of the doubt in that he knows what is required and will turn it around. I know we can't afford to be sentimental but I do think that after everything he has personally had to contend with over the last 12m he deserves a little more time.
  4. The pressure does still exist and always will when playing for Rangers. There is clearly a different level of challenge and intensity at this juncture but I still genuinely believe that for any player it is a completely different world as soon as they pull on the blue jersey. I am not saying that the 2 players you mentioned would not be better than what we have but the dynamic of coming to a big club like Rangers means there are no guarantees. Remember, we were only able to sign what was available in what was a fairly restrictive timeframe.
  5. I think we are missing the point here. There are probably dozens of players that we think look good on a single game basis. The fact of the matter is that it is a completely different world playing for Rangers given the pressure to win every game and the overall expectation levels. We only need to look at Shiels, Black and Sandaza for evidence of this. Quite simply, I don't think they have the mental toughness to be Rangers players despite the fact that they undoubtedly have the talent to perform at a decent level in Scotland. It is a difficult one to identify players that can come in and who will hit the ground running. Do we genuinely feel that McGregor from St.Mirren or Boyd from Ross County offer any guarantees?
  6. I totally understand your point but I don't think I could personally pick and choose. These clubs made their feelings crystal clear and as much as it hurts me not to attend these games I couldn't bring myself to hand them another penny of my hard earned cash.
  7. I don't share the view that the boycott was a failure just because 300 fans did decide to attend. We have demonstrated that we can starve these clubs of the income they would expect to gain in a normal set of circumstances. I agree that as a one off it had little Impact but a sustained boycott in years to come will hit these clubs hard. I will personally never return to the grounds of any of these SPL clubs and I would hope that the overwhelming majority of the usual travelling support feel the same way. If they do, the real day of reckoning for these teams is still to come.
  8. The only embarrassment was on the pitch.
  9. It was such a woeful effort throughout the entire team that it is perhaps unfair to select individual players. That said, the conduct of Ian Black at the end of the match was frankly pathetic if not entirely predictable. There was talk on an earlier post of careers coming to an end on the back of this performance and McCoist could do worse than make an example of Black. Black might count himself a bit unfortunate for his first booking but how he had avoided receiving a yellow card prior to that incident was more of a surprise. You would have put you mortgage on him getting sent off and he couldn't help himself. The antics as he left the field of play were an embarrassment. I won't lie, I never liked Black during his time at ICT or Hearts and his cowardly tackle on Jelavic pretty much sums him up. I was however prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and felt once he was wearing the blue jersey I might warm to him. Unfortunately, his performances this season have been consistently poor and he has been completely overshadowed by Lewis Macleod and even Kyle Hutton to a lesser extent. The only consistent part to Black's game is that he will get involved in every little incident and 9 times out of 10 pick up a booking. Black would be the first to point to the fact that he is singled out and he would be quite correct but he is an experienced SPL player, full International, Scottish Cup winner and one of the big earners at Ibrox who must rise above it. McCoist has put a lot of faith in Black and this really does look misguided. For me, the guy will never be Rangers class in terms of performance or conduct and I strongly suspect Ally already knows it. With the season effectively over, there is no excuse for sticking with Black.
  10. Is it not the case that Dundee United have sold tickets directly to Rangers and Celtic for all matches at Tannadice in recent times? I don't envisage any trouble inside the ground but am not sure the arrangement to sell tickets directly is breaking any rule or, indeed, is in any different to any normal match. Anyway, lets hope the match passes without incident and we can get a positive result.
  11. We shouldn't set foot in any SPL grounds regardless of the outcome of this enquiry. These clubs made made there feelings clear enough in the summer and I for one will never hand over another dime to any of them.
  12. I'm sure I remember Fergie (Ian) ending up in goal in an early season league match versus St.Mirren. Chris Woods dislocated his shoulder following a challenge by a certain Kenny McDowall.
  13. Billy Williamson was still head P.E. teacher when I started secondary school and insisted that we play Rugby and NOT football, I could never understand it!
  14. I don't believe McKellar ever played a first team game but I do recall Souness signing him as back up. I am pretty sure it was McKellar who was in goal for Hamilton Accies when they shocked us in the Scottish Cup back in 1987. I think Souness probably signed him on the back of it!
  15. The only game that I can actually remember attending when Mhyre was playing was a European tie in Dortmund. We lost on penalties. The game was in December and the kick off was brought forward to late afternoon for TV.
