  1. If we were all to stay away, or dare I say walk away, how can we possibly expect to get back to where we want to be?
  2. I personally think this is a non story and there is nothing to suggest that any share was sold at lower price than the acquisition price.
  3. Agreed. Davis, Naismith and Lafferty were never slow to tell us how they were supporters first and foremost. For others I agree it ultimately was just a job but I really hoped and expected these guys would do what was asked of them. It was about sending out a clear message that all supporters and friends of Rangers were sticking together.
  4. All I can make out is shares being sold at circa 0.80 pence. If they were purchased at 0.70 pence when the floatations took place then what is strange about this?
  5. They are probably going to leave it to Lawwell!
  6. I personally don't buy into all this stuff about lower league players even being an option. There may be the exception but these guys that have looked ok against us in a one off match are likely playing the game of their life. If you were to watch them the next week playing in front of 300 people I doubt you would have the same view. Playing for Rangers is another world. We have signed plenty of decent top league players over the years on the back of good performances against us but who have failed miserably as they can't handle the pressures and expectations of being a Ranger.
  7. From memory, we had something like 6 players turn up for the first day of pre season training last year so it was obvious that we were going to be in a position where we had to spend a fair amount on fees and wages simply to address matters. I certainly don't feel that it was the case that McCoist was in a position to pick and choose what he wanted, merely getting in what was available! I would like to think that there will be a more strategic approach to our signings at the next available window and that Ally will emerge with a squad that he actually wants. Only then can we begin to to truly judge.
  8. We should have more cross bar challenges at half time...these near misses are driving me wild with excitement!
  9. Did we genuinely spend so much money? We were pretty much forced to engage with out of contract SPL players as well as the usual procession of overseas players being touted by agents. There can be little doubt that we are not getting value in terms of the wages we pay but it was inevitable that we would be paying inflated salaries in order to convince players to come to the bottom Division. I don't believe for a moment that what we ended up with was Ally's "dream team". We had to work with what was available during a pretty tight window.
  10. If pressed, when was the last time you were happy with the quality of football being offered up...probably under Advocaat during his first 2 years when we were spending money on genuine quality but which unfortunately greatly contributed to where we find ourselves today.
  11. So Ally is not the main factor here, watching games has been a chore for sometime?
  12. I agree that we need players but this isn't anything that Ally can solve. If he had made a COMPLETE Noel Hunt of it we wouldn't be 22 points clear at the top of the league. That was clearly the objective this season. I don't disagree with anything else you are saying....our "SPL" players have consistently failed to deliver and the manager must take some responsibility for this. Maybe I just feel a bit more loyalty towards Ally after events of the last 12m and still feel we can extend a bit more time for him to turn it round.
  13. I think it you are right in that it was always going to happen as the novelty of playing D3 teams started to ware off. I'm not convinced the standard of football is the only driver, although I am not trying to defend the performances. If we were thrashing teams by 5 and 6 goals (which we should be) there would be just as much apathy with such routine wins.
  14. Yes, I do think he deserves a proper pre season with the current squad and with a bit of luck we might be able to add to it. Surely there has to be some recognition that the 20 or so months he has had in charge have been like nothing that has ever gone before? I never promised a perfect season, that one thing I can guarantee wont happen as there has never been one in the last 30 years I have been following the team!
  15. I still feel Ally deserves a season in charge where he has free reign to concentrate purely on football matters without being sidetracked by off field problems. My concern is that preparation for next season is going to be equally difficult given that there is still uncertainty over league reconstruction and that we won't be able to have signings in place for pre season training.
  16. I doubt there was even 40,000. Certainly didn't seem like it. Generally when Strathclyde Police publish their "official" numbers they are a good 6,000 less than the Club figures. The numbers will only go one way between now and the end of the season which is disappointing.
  17. Another great Coisty moment for me was when he got it right up Craig Levein in a game v Hearts at Ibrox. The 2 of them had been at it the whole game and when Ally inevitably scored he slid along the ground on his knees to celebrate....making sure that when he stopped sliding he was almost on the top of Levein's toes. If looks could kill!
  18. Totally agree with the above but some things from the past must remain. I would like to see us return to a strict policy whereby players are banned from having moustaches! What was that all about? Remember when Souness pitched up the genie was out the bottle. Davie McPherson, Ally Dawson, Cammy Fraser all had a go and good old Dougie Bell got to grow his back!
  19. The Dynamo Kiev game that is!
  20. Never forget the noise at the end of this game, rendition of the "billy boys" was absolutely deafening awaiting the final whistle. Arguably the best atmosphere I can recall in all the years.
  21. Still makes me laugh! Start it from 9.03 to get full impact. Different class.
  22. Probably my favourite memory of Gazza in a Rangers jersey was standing in the shed at Firhill as he proceeded to take the complete piss out of Thistle's Billy McDonald. I'm sure many people will remember the incident when McDonald completely lost the plot and was chasing after anyone in a Rangers jersey looking for retribution. As he ran to take a wild kick, Gazza simply nutmegged him and then bent over to stick his arse at McDonald who was red carded for the lunge at fresh air! Absolute genius. Shows how far our standards have fallen, can't help but feel that in Ian Black we almost now have our own Billy McDonald! One thing is for sure, we certainly don't have anything like Gazza.
