Re Derry's Walls. Surely it is two sides being represented: "The cry was:"no surrender" is met by the response: "Surrender or you'll die" At least that's how I have always presumed it to be. On another note Gersnet is not necessarily representative here. Had some of the requests for dropping or rewriting such songs been made at, say, Sheffield (last away game I was at!).... Well.... Let's just say it'd have been a short conversation.

Yes, I think there's a lot of that in it. They are rousing songs, no question and you feel like a brotherhood cheering on your team. What percentage actually care re the words and what they mean, I know not. It'd be interesting to know and to compare with when I stared going (mid 60s) and when I went on buses etc (c 73 ff). We often have threads asking why we are so disliked - well a lot of folk dislike us precisely because of these songs and affiliations. For some reason the other lot get sympathy for their 'beliefs' while we get antipathy, I'd rather that there was none of it at all on either side and that there was not the ridiculous situation of state funded segregated schooling. I've wished these things for c 45 years. I've pretty much given up hope of seeing them happen in my lifetime.

I didn't mean to come across as critical - apologies if I did. I'm curious though as to whether Family Sections help or hinder. Part of the magic for me was going with my dad and standing with him and his pals

I went to lots of dross games when I was growing up an had a terrible attention span............except where football was involved. Then I was engrossed and where Rangers were concerned absolutely captivated for every nanosecond of it. I was bored yesterday because I wasn't at the game, it is much easier to be bored when faced with a screen and a view dictated by what they choose to show. I wouldn't have been as bored were i there and I certainly wouldn't have been bored at any Rangers' game when a child - it's all I lived for as far as I can recall. There were no family sections then. Perhaps they make it boring? Part of the excitement was being amongst the grown-ups.

And the club was never born with it and grew to about 50 until it took on that attitude in reaction to Celtic. So, I am glad that we shed it (if we did - I have my doubts going by this thread and the songs we sing) as it'd be depressing to have them setting our agenda.

Fan arrested over hanging blow up dolls at Old Firm match

And they deliberately are avoiding the fact that this happens to the loos at Ibrox when they visit. -
Not sure why common sense should be trolling. It's got bugger all to do with a football game between Rangers and Partick Thistle. Anyway, speaking of satires, I was watching the Champions League "follow all games" station in midweek and one night they kept cutting to them v. City and I thought I saw a large saltire at one point. Was I mistaken? I thought saltires were despised, if not banned, there.

And, needless to say, the utter dregs of our sad species are quick to gloat. Avoid twitter is my advice. EDIT: much nicer stuff here, though, including Leigh Griffiths with well chosen words: http://www.talkingbaws.com/2016/10/leigh-griffiths-leads-tributes-to-rangers-fan-who-died-in-bus-crash-on-way-to-ibrox/?

Agreed re Halliday one = but Senderos could easily have been booked on two other occasions though, tbf. I couldn't believe one he got away with as it was so blatant.

Awful, just awful http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11788/10601413/man-dies-after-rangers-supporters-coach-crashes-in-east-ayrshire

It's been better since we scored, or at least was for a while before tapering off, I am happy that we are winning but feel a bit flat. It's not exactly been captivating. Dodoo looks exciting though.

Krancjar has some control.

A bit of a side note but it's nice to be able to listen to the RTV comms without cringing.... Ffs... Oh well done Wes!
-
Sure does...And 2-0 now. halliday
-
That's better
-
I'm falling asleep. Worrying over Halliday's injury and a fright when Senderos got of with a foul that wasn't given is about all I can remember...
-
What percentage is that? I guess I am asking if it is a significant amount in the grand scheme of things.
-
Unfortunately the answer to that is everyone and they do indeed do so with impunity. Alas, that I lived to see this day; quite unimaginable when I was growing up.

What we need is a TV station (English, then, obviously) to show the film of what happened and then say - and the SFA are doing nothing about it. No more would need to be said. If hibs had done that to that shower from the East End then 'Timmy Thommo' would have this on the C4 news and everyone else would pick up on it. A sky special would be good, they must have the film

Dunno, I am on watch all games and when they go to the giro dome I hit the mute button. Only way I can cope. Good to hear Trevor Francis at the Napoli game, though
-
3-3 now.........................
-
They are going to have to at this rate. kolarov or whoever that numptie defender was for their third was certainly on another level. A f@ckin' subterranean one
-
ffs first an offside goal and now an own goal. But they lead and City look rattled (or at least they do via the little clips from "watching all games") edit a bit later 2-2

Mark Warburton facing SFA charge over furious rant at referee
SteveC replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
How can MW be charged for abusive comments made when striding across the pitch after the final whistle? After all hibs fans are allowed to do it.......
