  1. I really don't think so, Pete. You could start with the goalkeeper. Actually you don't have to go further. Ferguson was the opposite of the diddy in that team, he was streets ahead of most of the others and Boyd was Boyd - still a goalscorer. Even in that terrible season he netted 20 which was as many as the 2nd, 3rd and 4th highest scorers combined. I really wanted Le Guen to be a success, I really wanted him to transform the club with new ideas. I'd have put up with a season or two of no trophies if I had seen we were building to that, but we weren't. I travelled up form England for games (not all, but as many as I could) and I remember the long journeys home. They were undertaken with a very heavy heart and the slow (because I clung on to hope beyond when I should have) realisation that it was all going nowhere and Le Guen was not what We'd all believed he would be. He's proved, repeatedly since, that he doesn't have it. I remember the attraction of his story and what we were told he'd do but it was an illusion. A hard one to let go off, I'll grant you - but it reads to me (no offence intended) that you just cannot accept that.

    Barton

Not by now, no. By a long time ago. Unless, that is, he has mental health issues in which case I would have sympathy for his otherwise unforgivable behaviour over many years. Some of which is recounted in here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1052663/Disgraced-footballer-Joey-Barton-jumps-red-light-drives-bus-lane-avoid-traffic-queues.html
  3. Good to hear that poor passing (or more accurately "constantly giving the ball to the opponents") is not what we are about. I had somehow thought it was after watching us do it so repetitively all game.
  4. It's no the dug's fault, try and let him enjoy his walk!
  5. True, in fact we win on away goals
  6. What a pile of steaming shit that was
  7. I do question my sanity in buying this when I have Arsenal v Spurs as part of my TV package.
  8. I'm half-inbetween you here - I thought it was obstruction but that he should have been stronger, anyway.
  9. Looked like we should have had a penalty there
  10. Wes terrifies me. I much prefer Gilks
  11. Because Clint Hill was fouled and stopped from going with the player he was marking. (So says Alex Rae)
  12. "know your place" is offensive in and of itself.
  13. We didn't have much competition for many of them, I recall Motherwell "challenging" (not) in second place, though we would probably have lost fewer games had we been being pushed. I agree with gunslinger, as I also don't think folk realise how much harm was done to us or, rather, maybe they do but not how long it will take to recover from it. Obviously, I hope that we stop them but I see them heading for 8 before we can challenge and that's only if we improve all the way to there and they go backwards. That doesn't leave a lot of scope for us to stop it and the chances are they will be strengthening all the time. We'll really need to be ready for almighty tussles if they are going for 9 and, perish the thought, ten.
  14. Yes, pretty bad: http://tinyurl.com/z5zj4p2
  15. Lots of folk in Germany have a fondness for us. This would end that as RB Leipzig are detested by one and all.
  16. I was thinking the same thing - are they not in fact interest free loans that are to be paid back in just over a year's time?
  17. Hopefully something like "Sutton is a w@nk, just ignore him"
  18. I wonder if they've lined up a deal with Burnley to take him off our hands in January>?
  19. EDIT: FAKE No idea if this has any substance to it, but, anyway, here goes - (lifted from FF): Simon Rowntree (@SRowntreeNews) 40 mins ago - View on Twitter BREAKING NEWS FROM IBROX: #Rangers have TERMINATED midfielder Joey Barton's contract and they will now pay him off. More to follow EDIT: FAKE
  20. Exactly and yet it has already got the feel of one of those things that just is forever continuing in the background (or foreground) with no clear reason given as to why. I agree with you but fear the situation may still have legs in it in - though whether Barton will have any left by the end of it is another question.
  21. And indeed the immortal Barca Bears who were hopeless in the league and given the run around by Hibs far less you know who on more than one occasion. Third in the league, out of the league cup in the sections and papped out the cup by the HiVs. And that was with a team full of internationals. I didn't miss a domestic game that season and some of them were far, far harder to take than last night.
  22. Oh, I'd bite your hand off for second as that's as high as we can possibly hope to get as things stand.
  23. Well done in finding a positive. I'm looking at a table which says that after 10 games we have 16 points out of a possible 30 and a goal difference of 0. Glum! Oh well - good night all, 'till next time.
  24. Could well be JfK hearts two down.....we need to nick this EDIT: we are all posting the same thing so I'll add - 'and Ross County hit the bar". Something we all feel like doing)
  25. Well it was his reputation at Preston. Andy Little has already commented tonight that one one dive was a particular favourite of Garner's at Preston and that he tried it all the time. ("but that's part of the game nowadays"). Sutton (I know) said he would be a great signing but alluded to his problems in passing (while predicting he'd score a lot of goals for us.) Putting all hearsay aside - we've seen him be a ned and dive for us. The first two things he did in our jersey werean outrageous dive and clattering someone. I think he's potentially a good player, though. I just wish he'd cut out the nonsense. However, it was nonsense that was already known before we bought him so, as you say, it's down to MW. Either he thought he could change him or he thinks it is acceptable....or he was desperate and could get no-one else.
