  1. Strachan signed a lot of crap at Celtic and a lot of his domestic success was because we were so weak at the time. He did have two good campaigns in Europe but he also got knocked out in one by Artmedia in the qualifiers. Ps - You also have to remember that GS inherited MON's squad, which was a lot better than what they have now.
  2. Hopefully he joins us next season. I think he should realise that Scottish football is his level and he could still get another decent few seasons.
  3. Lennon would not be tolerated in England.
  4. The clubs in Scotland are so skint that apart from the old firm, very few teams actually spend any fees on players. Aberdeen for example spent nothing in the summer, only loans and frees. I'm sure most other teams are the same. If anyone spends any money it's something minuscule like £50k. Such a dead beat league. There's probably better teams in League 2 in England than a lot of the guff in Scotland. The cup final last weekend was absolutely dire.
  5. What's relevant is how many decent youngsters the first team ends up getting and there's been far too few in the past 20 years.
  6. That will be the refs last game in the BPL surely. Chelsea are looking excellent. PS - Matic and Luiz should be the first choice central midfielders. They are a great pairing and are very much complete midfielders.
  7. Wrong man sent off. Chamberlain even told the ref it was him . What a start that was by Chelsea.
  8. Sherwood also doesn't really substantiate his point. They will go foreign again because that's where the good managers are. Plenty British managers get a chance in the BPL and fail miserably. Some do well like SAF but there's far more top coaches abroad.
  9. High profile chairman of a successful football club
  10. Almost 20, players like him should be getting regular explosure at 18. I bet a lot of bears didn't know he existed until a few weeks ago. We have had far too many players released with minimal games into/approaching their mid 20's like McMillan, Loy etc. Kyle Hutton being the latest example.
  11. I think it's safe to say that Clark has no future with us. Aird and Macleod both play in different positions. Gallagher looks very promising, not sure why he hasn't been playing sooner. He should have a couple of seasons under his belt now.
  12. Possibly because you are an insidious, cantankerous, evil little bastard you embarrassing little ned.
  13. The youth don't get a chance. We end up signing rubbish like Daly.
  14. I don't think anyone is saying he's top quality. Being a lot better than what we have doesn't mean you're anywhere near top quality.
  15. And can we identify and sign these superior players? He's better than what we have and I don't see us signing anyone as good or better. We don't have any scouts. Our signing policy is based on SPFL players, players we play against and players Ally likes. None of those options fill me with any confidence.
  16. I don't see the point in posting his nonsense on here. He's almost as bad as Leggat.
  17. Doesn't excite me either but what's the alternative?
  18. If only they had mentioned a certain word or criticised someone's hair....there would be litigation flying left, right and centre.
  19. Based on the proviso of how dodgy our signings can be, I'm inclined to agree. In an ideal world it would be far better to spend our resources on decent, young players with potential sell on value. Given we have no scouting network and a high propensity for wasting money, we might be better sticking to what we know as you suggest. Of course, it would surely have to be on £10k a week max.
  20. I never thought Ian Wright was that outstanding but I'm probably just basing it on his later years. I was young when he was in his prime, his goal record then was great though, regularly hitting 25-30 + a season. There could perhaps be an argument the premiership was weaker in the early to mid 90's.
  21. Ljunberg was a wide player, not a deep lying forward or classic number 10. Van Persie was also much better. Also, not sure how anyone could call Van Persie a 1 season wonder. He was a pretty consistent performer and got 20 or more goals in a season on 3 occasions. Would have been interesting to see him play as a striker earlier in his career.
  22. Decent but still tricky draw for Chelsea. Man Utd will get horsed.
  23. Miller will retiring soon, would be a waste of a wage.
  24. I don't see it happening before the next century.
  25. Slight difference being we were punching above our weight, not below.
