Wallace Plans Early Budget for McCoist
Ser Barristan Selmy replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
We're playing in the second tier of Scottish football next season and already have a bloated wage bill. Any money Ally gets will likely be squandered. We are also financially in a mess. If we are as poor as you suggest, should we not be tackling the problem head on IE replacing the management and coaching staff? Rather than throwing more money at the situation? -

Possibly has the same infinite timescale as the John McLelland three year plan that never quite seemed to have a finish date.

The reason will be the same as why from time to time pictures of our players on the BBC website have file names of a certain nature.

You realise what Irvine's job was?

Ex-Ger Allan McGregor in hospital

I doubt Scottish players care about playing for Scotland. If you are Scottish, you get very little international career to speak of. I don't see a few qualifiers a year being a high priority on a player's career.- 53 replies

Is that the new fall guy now? When the next disaster happens will we just say things have changed now and it was all Irvine's fault?

Getting paid a fortune to play in lower league football doesn't seem a huge sacrifice.- 53 replies

Didn't Wallace stay for family reasons? Pretty sure he said that at the time. I agree with you but just find your priorities are somewhat skewed given the adulation you hold Green in.- 53 replies

We wouldn't have got much at all for our players. On a good day we get very little for players aside from absolute standouts like Ferguson after 02/03, Hutton, Cuellar, Boumsong etc.- 53 replies

Yet you like Chuck Green, which calls into question your judge of character. I hate the way those players left us but it's also worth adding that aside from Lee Wallace, pretty much every single player worth anything went. The players that stayed like McCulloch wouldn't have been able to get similar wages. Even if the players did stay, we would have ended up getting nothing for them essentially anyway.- 53 replies

I hate what they all did but we need someone of his ilk back in goals when we are in the SPL. Cammy Bell is not good enough to continue our fine succession of excellent keepers i.e. Woods, Goram, Klos, McGregor.- 53 replies

Odemwingie is well known to be an absolute nut job .

Perhaps people might expect us to have a manager that can get the side playing watchable football. Our stats this season are the bare minimum expectation and don't mean anything. The way we play isn't subjective, anyone with a set of eyes can see that we play horrific football if they actually take the time to watch the games.

What are you babbling on about now?

From looking at the costs we will be in unsustainable debt again soon without significant investment. irrespective of competing in Scottish football. Costs need to be drastically cut and people can dream on if they think we're going to be spend big sums of money in the next season or 2. The scary thing is we basically need a whole new team for the SPL and we have made a right mess of things. We need to be planning long term on youth development and overseas scouting so that we can start making millions of pounds in net profit on transfers per season like Celtic do. I don't think the players they've been signing are all that great either, we should be aiming to do better than them but they are getting it right. We get it very wrong.

My thoughts entirely. People invested in this to save Rangers and the money just can't be suddenly used for this purpose. There should be a separate fund and plenty would donate. CH lost a lot of sympathy from me though when he reposted all the deleted comments on his facebook. He's starting to bring it on himself.

Where is he?

I think the answer to that is a resounding yes. Ally is so poor though that it doesn't mean much.

Rare that I disagree with Cooper but I don't want ex tims anywhere near us.
