  1. .... and also, several things don't help us right now: 1) We aren't an 'in-club' at the mo ... i can remember when Souness took over, you could see people down south walking about with Gers tops on ..... every time i go anywhere now all i see is Smeltic tops, at home and abroad ... we are not a fashionable club 2) The problems with UEFA haven't helped that either .... to encourage a wider support we DO need to modernise our club image 3) We have no cash and decent players either a) take more cash elsewhere, or b) just don't fancy our club
  2. I dunno ..... we were brutal at times in the early 80's!
  3. Call it what you want ;) Even though im glad to see PLG go, i certainly don't doubt the guy will go on to do well again ..... i just don't think he really made proper effort to settle into Scottish football, or to even research it before he came (and he had long enough!) Always seemed to me he was trying to force his own brand of football into a country where it wouldnt work (a pity, as lets face it, our league is shite)
  4. Yeah, sorry about that, i was on Safari in Africa for the last 6 months and i come back to rumours that i had been banned This whole 'demonstrations aren't the Rangers way' is something you always hear, but if we keep going the way we are 'winning won't be the rangers way' either
  5. I think 'confusing' is a good epitaph for his reign Against Hibs a few weeks back, i saw the best first half performance i had seen in years, thought we may just have turned a corner ..... but then such performances were always followed by defeat by some wee diddy team It never made any sense
  6. ..... and of course, any cash sum might also be hand in hand with a gagging order a la hearts!!!
  7. I would agree with that second point there, but i do think that in doing what he MAY have done, he get's out with his reputation in Europe (especially France) still relatively intact ..... he can blame people for undermining him, etc (his comments made today might not be the same as the ones we hear from him in French when he gets home!!!) Had he stayed and continued the way he was going, he was seriously risking his reputation Also .... i just can't see this mutual consent not involving some cash sum for PLG!
  8. Agreed ..... so what can we do? A lot of time Cammy comes on to make such points and no-one is interested. Ok, i haven't been a fan of what PLG tried, but i do admit that the problem stems from the top man .... Sir David No wonder he got that knighthood, fooling 52,000 people can't be easy
  9. I've a funny feeling that mutual consent will have involved a golden handshake of sorts! .... and i agree with your second point
  10. No need to apologise, just don't say silly things again
  11. Oh well, i bow to your extra sensory powers ... you must know me! I've been going from the days when i could pick my seat in the copland, so don't give me any of your crap! Don't let the whole fergie issue cloud just how bad PLG has been!
  12. Am i arguing with that? Sir David's time is overdue too!
  13. Maybe in a couple of years we will know the real truth, until then, neither you nor i were privvy to what went on im afraid! As i've said elsewhere, although i think there was a dressing room split, i do think Le Guen created a nice out for himself, but like your player power idea, it will never be proven either!
  14. We shall never know who the catalyst was, but certainly if PLG was looking for an out, dropping our (in my opinion) best player, a true rangers fan, and club captain, was certainly the way to provoke a response! Of course the players have let us down (not them all though) They haven't been helped by some of the tactics, etc, but bear as much responsibility as the manager, especially if they turn it on now he is gone
  15. Im not sure they are, though ..... one may have been created because of the other!
  16. Great reply Better than letting the club rot with this buffoon in charge ..... i am NOT sad to see him go! However, i do accept that this will have been an expensive episode for our club and will probably set us back even more!
  17. No, i didnt say that ..... i think Fergie was clearly pissed off with Le Guen (and thank god he was, as a true Gers man!) However, as you saw from Boyd's reaction, he wasn't the only one, so let's not lump all the blame onto Barry!! I think there may have been a few players involved in all of this Le Guen may have had a good track record before coming here, but he was AWFUL with us ..... FACE FACTS!!! He saw the easy way of getting out, and he took it! Of course, it will never be proved, but i know what i believe!!
  18. Heard the news on Five live 10 mins ago, and i punched the dashboard in delight! The man was a joke ..... shortest lived Rangers manager ever, and no wonder! Each week he baffled us with his decisions, his attitude towards Boyd but praise for Sebo(!), the debacle with Letizi, his poor tactics, his poor signings, his attitude towards the importance of the captaincy, etc, etc, etc, the list could go on It was a bold move by us to get him in, but he proved to be an arrogant little man who thought he could stroll into Scotland and win the the title .... he showed absolutely no respect for Scottish football, the club, and it's traditions, and i will be glad if i never ever see this man again For all of you out there blaming Barry ..... we should have been looking at PLG's future REGARDLESS of the recent incident, but come on ...... the guy was looking to get out, can't you all see this??????????? I only hope Barry doesn't suffer from the fans for PLG's sleekit get out routine
  19. What planet are you guys on having a go at Fergie .... Graham Roberts is right, the guy worked his ticket to get out!
  20. Sionko is absolutely woeful, i have to agree!
  21. .... or that it makes more sense to bite the bullet and 'fake the peace' until this strange little frenchman is removed, which won't be long if he keeps up his fantastic start!
  22. Calscot's post at the top of this page is fantastic ..... found myself nodding along to it all
  23. If that scenario did happen then it would just be the perfect escape clause for PLG
  24. They were talking about this on the radio yesterday, saying that maybe Rangers should put him up for loan (Fergie, not PLG ) but surely in doing that it would be a no confidence vote in the manager as it would seem as if Rangers were protecting a valuable asset (Fergie!) just in case PLG doesn't work out ....... actually, it would give PLG the perfect excuse to leave saying his job was unworkable ..... and he of course can protect this poor 6 months of his reputation by blaming Barry for everything How simple!
  25. It would seem like a daft thing to do, but maybe to get out and get back to French football (or elsewhere) after only 6 months is seen as damage limitation .... if we give him another couple of years and he does nothing how much worse will he look? Also, if this brings things to a head, then he could always walk away with the 'the club didn't back me' argument As for respect ..... well, as far as i can see, he has shown no respect for Scottish football and it's traditions in his short time here!
