Rangers confirm the appointment of Ceri Bowley as First Team Coach

I get what you say. I was just referring to a somewhat contradictory position. The tinpot nature of our league is what it is. The often childlike hating each other to death undermines potential avenues of progress within the SPFL, it's voting process and executive Mgmt and that is before you get to fans and message boards !! The SFA and how the game is refereed is another angle that is stuck in a time warp. Desire for and/or reveling in the failure of others is a football fan thing but on the same message boards (all teams) there will be threads on improving finance, the co-efficient, etc. You can only do so much by yourself. Ps. I have always thought that as fans, if you want to really annoy another club. Then either encourage or ignore them regardless if hate comes the other way. One set of fans would just end up looking like Jeremy Hunts instead of two sets.

Those who delight in Scottish diddy clubs performing in Europe at a level somewhere below the League of Ireland shouldn't moan too much about a cráp TV deal.

Rangers confirm the appointment of Ceri Bowley as First Team Coach

Maybe not official but there was a report on it that pointed towards him being a coach for the coaches. First team coach doesn't seem to fit that. -
Not quite the six as in 2003, they went one better. Diddy clubs are outdoing their reputation this summer. Motherwell beaten H and A by Sligo Rovers Now this.

Quick look at PSV squad reminds me of previous Transfer threads. Joey Veerman and Xavier Simons. -

Getting through last night means either: - we go through to CLGS with the milk and honey that brings (amount variable but much bigger than 6M) or - we go out at PO round and get 5M Euro UEFA pay out plus extra Home fixture (gate money at 34 pound sterling a nap*) *Obviously concessions/children tickets much cheaper -
Start a rumour in the Netherlands that we have signed Gregor Stevens and Jim Steele on loan with the CLPO in mind.

Agreed. Would be good to see Davies and Yilmaz start at the weekend against St.Johnstone. I'm hoping Davies will be less prone to errors than Sands.

Depends on perspective. From a business POV, the company have got this right. They have exploited and made extra money on the back of sheer demand. From a club/fan relationship POV (which is constantly 'sold' as how it is) it is a tax on loyalty and as Frankie said, isn't a good look. Should we get a year or two of CL money then perhaps the club can look to reward loyalty a little more. Whilst we don't, it'll be constantly trying to bridge financial gaps with little leeway for 'generosity'.

The view from Ross Wilson's office will be brighter this morning with more/different options opening up, probably still dependent of further outgoings. The sun will come out fully from behind the cumulus clouds should we get past PSV. I doubt much will happen until the last week of the window. -
Wow !! We made a specific bit of history (comeback from 2 goals) and contributed to what has been mostly, a quite amazing few years in Europe. Very glad to say the humble pie went down very nicely, just didn't see that coming. Got some breaks but to a degree, you have to make your own luck. Huge result in terms of prestige, momentum and finance. Such a comeback will be noted throughout Europe and help consolidate general reputation. Very big for GVB's credibility rating and for the team to grow into the season, (and avoided recrimination fallout). An approximate 6 million sterling added to turnover (worst case scenario) So far we have pretty much stumbled through the season without any meaningful damage inflicted. Hurdles get higher next week (PSV, Hibs(A), PSV) and we will need to up our levels but even if PSV were to put us out (JuJu points) it'll be a softer landing, on various levels. Last night was our first win in CL football since Steven Naismith scored from a Kirk Broadfoot cross, in a 1-0 win over Bursaspor, 13 years ago......and only our 2nd win in 24 CL matches.

If it was politics, it would be called a tax.

They sorted themselves out quickly last week and adopted a near perfect tactical approach. ....Our lack of 'everything' on the night, made it look masterful. ie. I think they'll get their tactical approach right and it is about us throwing a spanner in its works to see how they react to the occasion.

From Bisgrove's desk, it looks just dandy.

Absolutely I hope the precedent isn't from 2003, when Scotland beat the Netherlands 1-0 in the first leg of a play-off.

The evidence that I can see thus far suggests that we are going out tonight. To go through, I think we'd need to click into top gear for periods of this match and defend well throughout. Not impossible, but unlikely. I can't see us suddenly clicking with high tempo, slick football but we could end up replacing it with a high energy approach/less precise. The danger with the latter is that after about half an hour, we drop off it and that we could easily be counter-attacked from the word go, if not precise. The other approach is to be patient. Start fast but not in a sustained way and look to conserve energy, thinking about the 90 minutes. Against Malmo last year, it was the former. We got the goal we needed to level the tie after 18 minutes but we were knackered after about 35 minutes and never really recovered, even against 10 men. Maybe Gio will be slightly more conservative and think about the 90 minutes but at the same time, he will have to be more direct from the word go than of late.....It was Cedric Itten and Alex Lowry who scored our last First Half goals in a competitive match (Hearts, Away in League last season). We have scored 4 goals in our last 5 competitive matches (90 minutes), plus 2 in Extra Time. Fingers crossed but with no real expectation.
