It's pre-season and it's about getting minutes into players legs. I think Scottish fans are only fans who read anything into pre-season friendlies. I'd expect wholesale changes during the Hamburg game as well to get Roofe, Dessers and Lawrence some minutes.

Newcastle are a joy to watch, really showing how football should be played. I guess it's showing how lucky we were that Howe said no to Celtic. Thankfully, we'll not face this type of quality until the later stages of Europe and / or CL group stages. Sima looks the parts, Soutar our best defender, Cantwell trying a little to much.

With MLS on their mid-season break after this weekends fixtures, so timing would make sense.
