Scant consolation - they are f'ing miles ahead of us domestically - this could end up anything. We are horse shit
-
Starting a 38 year old when we all knew they'd fly at us is baffling in the extreme.
-
Var or no var, the are miles ahead of us, today is showing the gulf in class. They are everything we aren't, fast, direct, ruthless we are slow, ponderous and getting ripped apart AGAIN. Simply not good enough - time to stop making excuses and look at how far behind we've fallen.
-
That'll be that then. Another parkhead capitulation. So far off it it's embarrassing- what's the manager thinking? Hasn't learnt a thing.

Acht well, held out out for what, 8mins?

The Summer 2022 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

I think the board will disagree - £16M for 2nd choice right back and £20M for 2nd choice left back (a player who was written of by a large section of the Rangers support some months ago). Ross Wilson has to work with a budget that's dictated by his bosses, maybe he'll feel as hacked off as Gerrard and Gio. After all he has to ballance new contracts and new signings within a relatively small budget. After all his signings won us 55, progressed brilliantly in Europe, got to EL final then qualified for CL...... -

A good result on Saturday and the quality / depth of the squad should be separate issues, but I know some fans will not agree! We have enough quality in our squad to get a result on Saturday, we've beaten much better teams than Celtic (PSV being the most recent). Whether we get a result will ne down to how the players perform on the day. The depth of squad will not impact Saturdays result, however, it will undoubtedly have an impact the results over the course of the season. If we can get Helander, Davies, Soutar, Hagi, Roofe, Lowery, Lawrence, Alfie etc back fully fit and keep them fit, IMO the squad has sufficient depth and quality. If not, or we get more players out for prolonged periods or time, we'll struggle. Given the qualification for the CL and having 8 1st team players out, its understandable the fans (and manager) were expecting reinforcements. -

Valid points. The board didn't back Gerrard on the back of 55 and listening to Gio after defeating PSV, he indicated there would be "incomings", so can be argued that the board are not backing Gio after EL final and CL qualification. I understand that money will be held back for Sands and Tillman and that new contracts for Tav and Goldson (and possibly Alfie and Kent) needs to be taken into consideration, but we need strengthened / freshened up. I can also see the flip side - we have bloated squad and have 6 or so players currently out (long term) injured. Their wages still need to be paid. Read somewhere that the only 1 player of the Celtic starting 11 from the 2019-2020 league Cup final is still at Celtic, yet 10of our starters that day remain at Ibrox (Aribo being the 1 player still not around). -
Voted Tilman but could easily have been one of a number of players. Sands was outstanding as was Kamara.

Rangers 1 v 1 PSV Tav FGS -
We created very little and were lucky to be 2-1 up in second half. However we might have sneaked it without Collums interventions (Alfie was stupid as he gave Collum a decision to make). Our club needs to strat takes these officials to task - stating silent isn't an option, bit we'll continue down the dignified silence route. Just heading back from game, has much been made/said about the missiles thrown by Hibs fans (again)? Steward next to be was hit on head with a bottle at half-time and Tav was hit with objects in 1st half. Becoming a weekly occurrence at Easter Road.

Ok, I'll bite..... I like / rate Borna, always have but he is a confidence player. When he is confident he plays well. His crosses have led to numerous goals in important games. However, he has his defensive lapses. Borna's strengths are hugging the touchline and giving us width and an outlet on the left and whipping crosses into the box (he can do this from bye-line or from distance). What I noticed yesterday was Yilmaz can go and looks comfortable, either wide, but also cutting inside which gave Lawrence more space out wide. For a small player, up against a much taller opponent he did win his fair share of headers. Wasn't the greatest league debut I can remember but certainly wasn't the worst. -

Thanks but I wasn't guided by any one else's post, was just interested in your 1st impressions of 3 players who went on to be Rangers legends after having difficult starts to their Rangers careers. Anyway, asked and answered.
