Check back the thread, it wasn't me who first mentioned Weston.

I'll drive him there 😁 -
You must be watching a different Weston from me as I don't think he is particularly pacy. He has scored 19 goals in Lowland League, 8 shy of the top scorer who plays for Spartans who has similar attributes to Weston. Maybe we should call him up as well. (Sorry that was sarcastic). In seriousness I'd have Weston in the squad for domestic games from now to end of season but is way off what is required for Thursday.

When did Itten sign for Braga 😉 -
That doesn t answer the question of what people have seen in Westons performances that make them think he is ready to start a European Quarter final. Said on another thread I rate Weston and I hope he makes it with us. However from what I've seen of him, he is nowhere near ready to start or be involved in Thursday's game.
-
Are we implying some bias in his performance based on his background? 🤔😏😉
-
Genuine question - Have you seen much of Weston? What makes you believe he is ready to start / be involved for a major European quarter final?
-
So worst case scenario then.
-
Pity as RTV match experience is way better than anything SKY or BT can offer.
-
I suppose it is but it was naive and a disastrous move / suggestion. Our rivals would have ended up making much more than us due to the Ange factor. I don't mean in appearance fee but in spin-offs. Also, I can't be the only Rangers fan who is uncomfortable with us cosying up to Celtic and being part of "Ange Homecoming"? That's before you even get into the ongoing court-cases and actions. My suggestion was just to throw an alternative out there. How viable it is is open to debate but we have done similar previously and it seemed to work. All the risk needent be on Rangers, I'm sure we could get someone to sponsor / organise it? Edminston House is a welcome move but also a gamble - look what happened to the last one. Look forward to it opening. However, the medium to long term vision I'm looking for would incorporate the footballing side of things. If we do have a vision, it would be good to see it.

I said things may be happening behind the scenes. As for player investment, check out Ross Wilson interview where he says something like "There is absolutely no need to sell any players and money received for SG and NP would be reinvested in the squad" As for all other issues I mentioned, they aren't being addressed as we have to deal with them on a day to day basis. IIRC the disabled match day experience was raised at the AGM and the fan that raised it said it was the 6th year he has raised it. 6 years or our wheelchair fans sitting in front of West Enclosure getting soaked to the skin with access issue to Ibrox and Car Park. Customer service and ticketing shambles - fans missing games as they can't get website to work. Ticket office with no direct contact number only connectable via email. Lately we've had our head of communications saying an embarrassing club statement attributed to him was written, signed off and published by the board without his knowledge. Honestly, we are becoming an omi-shambles

I may be wrong or in the minority (wouldn't be the first time for either 😀), but isn't it the Executive Boards job to look at ways to improve the club and to move it forward financially? It's not "entitlement" or having our cake and eating it, it's simply wanting the best for our club and holding the board accountable. So many things wrong with the club and one being any medium to long-term goals or vision. The Aussie friendly was the final straw for many. Whilst we all know we need money, but why choose to help fund our rivals at the same time? Would a historic touriment against genuine friends of our club create much less? Say Rangers, Arsenal, Hamburg and D.Kiev - weekend of football at Ibrox. Sensible priced tickets, merch, catering, sponsorship, TV coverage, corporate - can't be far off £3M and would have almost 100% fan engagement
-
So if they fail to improve OUR club despite a growing list of issues that are not being addressed, we just sit back and say, "acht this is the best we can get?" Surely that's not the Rangers we want or indeed need.
-
Where does the £16M for NP fit in?
-
Sense of entitlement? A safe and fit for purpose stadium and a working youth system isn't a sense of entitlement it's a must have. MyGers on top of season ticket, CCCS, share issues, 4 and counting new kits for the kids, most expensive tickets in the entire EL.... Where does it stop? It's OK to say there is a limit of board investment but no limit to what the fans are asked to invest? The board deserve credit for what they have done and that's been given but they are not beyond scrutiny or beyond being questioned. Nor are they above criticism. If they are, we're back to the days of SDM regime.
-
Would that satisfy their season ticket base? Isn't Hampden smaller than Parkhead? Also how would they segregate for OF and European games? Not saying it's not true, we all know how devious they are.
-
Just because we haven't unearthed more than 1 NP, doesn t mean we can't. Let's be selfish, let's hoover up the best Scottish players at all levels. Nothing stopping us doing that. Make it attractive for them at an early age. I advocated this approach in 2012 never happened then, but it's never to late. We need new ideas in the boardroom. There may be things going on behind the scenes but most fans just see a board who are lurching from one embarrassment to the next. I'm not praising any board for the "upkeep" of the stadium or the funding of the youth system, that should be a given. This board are behind the worst customer service in the club's history. The ticketing system is an omi-shambles, MyGers is nothing more than a money making exercise, the board have under-sold our 150 anniversary and the UBs and Hamburg have done more than them. Our catering, whilst getting better is still terrible, you get better food and better value for money from the fans outside the stadium (lost revenue stream), the continued debacle of the disabled fan match experience is shameful, the boards reluctance to address negative press is unacceptable and their communication with fans equally so. Since the introduction of MyGers which I refused to join and despite being on CCCS I have yet to get given a European away ticket or a ticket for a domestic semi-final or final. RSC ticket allocation being cut by approx 25% this season meaning many clubs unable to take buses to games (mostly away games) and getting the feeling Rangers want rid of them. We deserve better.
-
I've heard things like it scraping past safety certificates, a 25 year life expectancy etc. Many rumours but no concrete evidence (If you pardon the pun).
-
But there are other ways - we sold NP for £16M a player who had played, what 10 games for us? Invest in the youth academy and produce 2 or 3 NPs a year and that's close to £50M. Have a signing policy (dare I say like Celtics) and buy players cheap and move them on. The current board have done well but let's face it, they are being shown up and their limitations are being laid bare. If all they can offer is "keeping the lights on" then it's obvious that we need a change.

Having watched the B Team a lot this year, I think we'll be lucky of one of those 3 makes it (with us). Weston scores goals at Lowland League level and is an intelligent player. He reminds me of Robert / John Flack and John Spencer. I hope he makes it, but would need to be loaned out to see how he performs at a higher level. Any time I've seen Alegria I've not been impressed. Doesn't score as many as Weston and hasn't set the heather on fire at Thistle. McCann has been inconsistent when I've seen him. Sometimes best player on pitch, other times anonymous. I think he is behind Lowery but could make it if he can get his consistency. On the B Team, I'd like them to move from Dumbarton and play at Morton next season. Dumbarton pitch ain't the best where Morton's looks much better. Also we need to market the games more - it's great value for money but very poorly attended
-
A board with a vision, ambitions and the financial ability to take is to the next level. Otherwise we have to settle for 2nd best in Scotland and the Europa League. Personally I want to be top team in Scotland over a 10 year period and be in the CL group stages every year. Ambitious? Yes. Achievable? Yes, with the correct management.

Having VAR can't be worse than NOT having it. -

Dermot Gallagher, the self-confessed Celtic fan???? 😀 -
Then the board need to be 100% honest with us. There is no point saying that the money recouped from SG and NP would be invested into the playing squad, then not doing so, or that we are very close to being self-sufficient financially when we are clearly not. It'll be interesting to see the timing and the price of next season's season tickets.

You'd like to think that with the amount of official partners we now have that we'd be coining it it.
