  4. I went to Woodside school and played at the red ash pitches at Blairdardie, so we always played with a mouldmaster. We couldn't believe our luck when we had to travel out of Glasgow for a cup game and played on a grass park. It was like Heaven.
  5. Remember the days the the game was played for the sport and not for the money. Remember the days we used to know the game was on a Saturday at three o clock. Remember the days we used to look up at the sky to see if it was raining and not down at a telephone.
  6. i never had laces up to my ankles but i do remember having to dubbin the ball and my boots. Heading the laces in the ball is also a memory I won't forget. I also remember playing with a mould master ball. if the ball hit your thigh hard on a cold day you were left with little dimples all over your thigh.
  7. I think my granny may have knitted the socks. They look like the ones I got for xmas.
  8. Some may be hoping that big lee misses the Hibs game. It would have been better if Streete wasn't injured though.
  9. We could also do as the Dutch have done in allowing the top teams to have a second team in the lower divisions. They will never be allowed to be promoted to the top division but it serves the purpose of a higher more physical standard for youth players of top teams and potentially better players in the lower divisions.
  10. For you maybe but I am sure many disagree. never was a legend and never will be hopefully as it could only be as manager and I hope that never happens.
  11. Personally I hope he is banned for good.

  14. I remember Alexi Mikhailichenko pulling his head down in a European game when standing in the wall, letting the other team score. Unfortunately my memory is not good enough to remember what game it was

  16. Can you not get an organised speaker or something? The protests look so disorderly with fans wondering what can we sing next. Oh yeh. Sack the board we haven't done that for a few minutes.

  19. Rangers caretaker boss Kenny McDowall apologises to fans Rangers caretaker boss Kenny McDowall has apologised to fans for his team’s historic Scottish Cup loss at home to Raith Rovers. The Fifers recorded their first win over Rangers at Ibrox in 56 years to claim a place in Monday’s quarter-final draw. And McDowall, responding to the fury heaped upon himself and his players by a crowd of just 11,422, said he understood why supporters had lost faith after a second straight cup defeat on consecutive Sundays. McDowall, who watched his team meekly exit the League Cup at the hands of Celtic just seven days earlier, said: ‘I would just like to apologise that we’ve been knocked out of another cup. ‘They come to watch their team and pay good money and it’s our job to try to get a win on the day — and we have failed, so we apologise. ‘We just have to get on with it — there’s still a long way to go in the league campaign. We have to lift ourselves up and start winning football games.
  20. Haris Vuckic stunned after Rangers cup exit Published on the 09 February 2015 17:46 HARIS VUCKIC admitted Raith Rovers had knocked him off his stride as his Rangers debut ended in a shock William Hill Scottish Cup defeat. The on-loan Newcastle player got his Ibrox career off to a goalscoring start but his equaliser failed to turn the tide in the game and Christian Nade sealed a 2-1 fifth-round win for the Kirkcaldy side. The Slovenian played in an advanced midfield role and showed some decent touches while producing a tidy finish when found unmarked by Kyle Hutton, but Rangers could not mount any sustained pressure and Vuckic found his first taste of Scottish football a bit of a culture shock. The 22-year-old told the official Rangers website: “I was a bit surprised by the occasion against Raith and I just need to step up my game a bit more to handle it better. “They were quite aggressive with us and really fought for the ball so that was tough and something that I haven’t been as used to playing in England. “That was my first 90 minutes in a while so now I need to demand a little bit more of myself and hopefully goals will start coming, as well as victories. “I have to adapt to Scottish football and to a new team and I am going to get to know the players better with time. “I need to be more aggressive, get the ball at my feet and create and score goals - that is my job and if I do that I think we are going to be successful. “We all spoke after the game and said the performance wasn’t good enough and we need to step up, move on, start winning games and get the fans back on side - we are determined to be better.” Vuckic was the only one of five Newcastle loan signings to finish the game - indeed three failed to start because of injuries. Another, Remie Streete, limped off with an apparent groin problem just before the break but Vuckic promised they would make an impact as the weeks and months progress. Vuckic said: “I was very pleased to score, it gave me a bit of confidence and for a striker it is always good to get a goal because that is my job. “I am the kind of player who likes to have freedom and be creative and I tried to link up with the strikers and our midfield. “We just have to work on creating more chances but we’ve only known each other for three or four days now. “We are only going to learn more about each other as time goes on and we will get better together.”
  21. TWO men have appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a dad-of-four on the day of an Old Firm match. Graham Murray, 29, and Grant Murray, 19, appeared in private and face charges of carrying out the alleged attack on Jim Martin, 37. The men, both of Motherwell, Lanarkshire, made no plea or declaration at Hamilton Sheriff Court and were remanded in custody. They face allegations they assaulted HGV driver Jim, of Newarthill, to his severe injury, danger of life and attempted to murder him on February 1. Grant Murray faces further claims of assault and breach of the peace. Both men are expected to appear at court for a second time on Friday. Rangers fan Jim was treated in hospital after he was found injured outside a pub in his hometown just hours after he had watched Celtic beat Rangers 2-0 at Hampden Park. His wife Laurette, 38, later released pictures of his injuries as she appealed for information. Prosecutors have revealed a third man reported in connection with the incident has been released but could still be taken to court. A Crown Office spokesman said: “The procurator fiscal received a report concerning a 24-year-old man in connection with an incident said to have occurred in Motherwell on February 1, 2015. “After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the report, the accused was liberated from custody and did not appear in court in relation to this incident. “The case remains under consideration by the procurator fiscal”.

  23. The Daily Record’s right again as Rangers board reveal they can’t hold egm at posh Kensington hotel 20:01, 9 February 2015 By Record Sport Online MILLENNIUM Gloucester bosses close the venue to explosive showdown – and Ibrox chiefs claim it’s OUR fault. RANGERS have tonight announced they will now NOT be holding their egm at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London. As predicted by the Daily Record yesterday, the board’s preferred venue in Kensington won’t host the explosive showdown between shareholders, fans and club chiefs. The Ibrox directors provoked fury when they announced next month’s egm will take place more than 400 miles away from the club. Supporters speculated it was scheduled for the UK capital so fans wouldn’t attend. But now the board will be looking for a new venue – because hotel staff fear there will be too much disruption to guests. And, amazingly, they are trying to blame us at the Record. Their statement read: "Rangers have today been informed that the Millennium Gloucester Hotel & Conference Centre which was the intimated venue for the club’s EGM on Wednesday 4 March 2015 is no longer available. Rangers' Derek Llambias, Sandy Easdale, Barry Leach and James Easdale during the QTS Scottish Communities League Cup, Semi Final at Hampden Park, Glasgow. "The hotel management at the Millennium Gloucester have taken advice from different quarters and concluded that the EGM cannot be managed without significant disruption to guests and neighbours. "The hotel felt it necessary to take this position after receiving numerous complaints and false information from individuals purporting to be shareholders. Where should the Rangers board hold the egm? D’uh! Ibrox of course. Sports Direct megastore. A nuclear bunker. A phone box on the moon. "The board are concerned the situation was exacerbated by irresponsible and inaccurate media coverage. "An alternative venue is currently being sought in the London area and will be announced as soon as possible. "The board apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused shareholders due to matters out with their control." Dave King called for the egm in a bid to oust directors such as Llambias and Sandy Easdale.
