Fact or not. I have been told many times by Dutch people that the British Army enlists men by giving criminals the option of Jail or Army service. This is not from one person but a pretty established opinion over here. I have continually argued against that as I have never heard of anyone being given that choice. Do Courts give that option? Any soldiers I know have certainly all joined of their own free will and I can't ever remember it ever being spoke about when I lived in Scotland.
