There will be 17 players playing in the same direction then. No, i think Novo, Miller and JCD are certs although i hope Velicka gets the shout in front of JCD. It will be 4-5-1 but a little more positive than you have Gribz.

I am afraid a Rangers of Glasgow would never be the same as the Rangers for me.

It makes moaning about not being able to cancel games before last seasons Euro games a bit of a mockery. If we want to cancel this year we can be told "you played before the Kaunus game when it wasn't necessary so you have to play now"
-
UhccHuuccch. Shit jut joked on my beer.
-
I guess we will have to beat Kaunus with the players we have as the deadline has now passed. Anyone feel like we are playing Russian roulette?
-
I think if i read the story right we were offering him one year out of two. That would have saved us a year and gave him roughly the same money as he had with us. The other team would pay the rest. If we stick him in the reserves we pay the full sum. It sounds good business but obviously signing him in the first place was a mistake, and that was Walter Smith's decision.
-
Why are we only fishing in the backwater of the premiership. There must be better players abroad than Sunderland rejects.
-
Yet again a player who so called cost us nothing has cost us at least a million + without playing a game. keep going Walter your doing well.

Sky-high Transfer Prices Are Forcing Gers Out Of The Market

Fulham know if they don't sell Davis today then all the pressure is off Rangers to buy him and Rangers can then hold out until the next deadline. They will also want time to spend the money. Davis will sign today. -

Carlos Cuellar standing firm to resist Premier League overtures Rangers defender Carlos Cuellar has rejected speculation linking him with a move to England and claimed that his preference is to remain at Ibrox for the foreseeable future. By Ewing Grahame Last Updated: 1:19AM BST 24 Jul 2008 The Spaniard, who was voted Player of the Year last season by the Scottish Football Writers' Association, was signed for £2.4 million from Osasuna in July 2007 and made 65 appearances for Walter Smith's side last season. He is recovering from a calf strain, but is aiming for a return to competitive action next week, when the Lithuanian side FBK Kaunas arrive in Scotland for the first leg of their Champions League qualifying-round tie. "The club is fantastic and each year we have the chance to play in the Champions League so it is a great place for any player," said Cuellar, who has been monitored by Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United. "I want to stay for many years. It was a new experience for me and I loved every minute of it. Last season was my best ever as a professional player but I hope that next season will be even better." Rangers remain hopeful of signing Cardiff City's Dutch defender Glenn Loovens and PSV Eindhoven's Finnish midfielder Mika V¤yrynen before tomorrow's UEFA signing deadline ahead of the Kaunas tie. Champions Celtic will be without the Japanese duo Shunsuke Nakamura and Koki Mizuno for the start of the new campaign. Nakamura requires surgery to repair a persistent hernia problem, although it is believed that manager Gordon Strachan, who has refused to give interviews even to the club's official media outlets since May, expects the 30-year-old midfielder to miss only the opening SPL fixture against St Mirren at Parkhead. Mizuno, 22, who has yet to make his senior debut since arriving from JEF United in January, requires an operation on his knee. Strachan's long quest to remove Guinea defender Bobo Balde from the wage bill may finally be about to succeed, with Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy understood to be ready to table a bid for the 32-year-old after being frustrated in his pursuit of Hearts captain Christophe Berra. Meanwhile, the Edinburgh club have joined Falkirk in refusing to pay Celtic and Rangers a five per cent handling fee for distributing tickets to their travelling supporters. Campbell Ogilvie was secretary at Ibrox for 20 years before relocating to the capital but the Hearts managing director regards the proposal as profiteering on behalf of the Old Firm. "We have made it clear we will not accept any levy being deducted from tickets sold by either club in respect of matches being played between these clubs and Hearts at Tynecastle, he said."

Hmmm, Hmmmm 30mill? Mr Smith.

I think Scots on the whole lack confidence. i think that is why we are so good patter merchants to cover up our insecurities.

I have always said if anything happens to Roman Abramovich to make him walk away Chelsea will find it almost impossible to survive.

SPL sides revolt against Old Firm ticket commission plans Jul 23 2008 By Gary Ralston THE fightback against Old Firm plans to charge a commission for selling tickets for rival clubs begins today. Officials from several SPL clubs will meet for informal talks as opposition to the five per cent levy requested by Celtic and Rangers grows. Falkirk yesterday became the first club to address the issue as they entertain Rangers in the SPL opener on August 9. Falkirk have decided to sell visitor tickets locally themselves and will even use the names and addresses they gather to try to tempt Old Firm fans to support the Bairns instead. Dundee United are still debating how to deal with the issue when Celtic visit on August 17 but chief executive Stephen Thompson admitted clubs are smarting at the conduct of the big two. He said: "An informal meeting has been called at fairly short notice to discuss this issue and up to half a dozen clubs will attend. "We all share the same opinion, none of us is happy at the principle of the issue and the way it has been handled by the Old Firm. "There is so much good going on in the SPL at the moment with the new TV deal but the way the Old Firm have handled this has left a bad taste. "They are opening up a can of worms for what is not a large sum of money. It's a minefield. Clubs are not allowed to deduct ticket money from each other so it is not a formal SPL matter - yet." The Old Firm have angered the rest of the SPL by asking for the admin fee for briefs distributed from ticket offices at Parkhead and Ibrox. Falkirk will sell 2500 tickets to Rangers fans directly and they will be invited to apply for up to four tickets via an application form in the print version only of the Falkirk Herald tomorrow, with a public sale proposed at Westfield on August 5. Central Scotland Police are happy with the arrangements and all fans requesting tickets will be asked to supply a name and address, which will be checked against a database of football offenders. Falkirk chief executive George Craig said: "The easy thing to do would be to give Rangers the five per cent but we have chosen not to. We have no axe to grind with the Old Firm and how they choose to run their businesses but my first interest is Falkirk. "We've got to be imaginative about how we grow our support in the local area. One way might be to try to persuade some of the people whose first allegiance is elsewhere that we have a team that's worth getting behind." Rangers supporters groups have backed their club's stance but fear for the long-term future of supporters clubs if home teams continue to distribute all tickets. Jim Templeton of the Rangers Assembly said: "The club are entitled to ask for a handling fee because the other teams in the SPL dramatically increase their prices when the Old Firm visit. "We have concerns about the future of supporters' clubs, as well as security concerns over visits to places such as Pittodrie. SPL clubs need to get round the table quickly." No one at Rangers or Celtic was available. SPL operations director Iain Blair refused to comment.

With our signings to date you are lucky it is not Moira Anderson.
-
He obviously has not had us spied on yet. Penalties anyone?

Former Plymouth Argyle defender Russell Anderson is being linked with a move to Glasgow Rangers. The 29-year old Scottish international moved to Home Park on-loan from Sunderland in February and enjoyed a successful three-month loan spell, making 14 appearances for Argyle. Pilgrims' boss Paul Sturrock had made it clear that he would like to sign Anderson in a permanent deal but the cost of a transfer fee plus wages proved too expensive and Sturrock decided to look elsewhere for a centre-back. The former Aberdeen captain indicated that he was looking forward to a fresh start with the Black Cats and fight for a first-team place but with Rangers now showing an interest it could well be that Anderson makes a surprise return to Scotland. Anderson moved to Sunderland from Aberdeen last summer in a £1 million transfer but ruptured his ankle ligaments soon after joining and spent several months on the sidelines until the loan move to Argyle.

Hearts join in and the big loser will be the Rangers supporters.

Music to the ears. Lets just hope he is not pushed out the door as Hutton was.
-
The way Rangers have been playing recently. Sorry.
-
I am starting to wonder if our Technical staff have a clue what they are doing. Surely any players we are interested in should have been scouted months ago and not leaving things to a last minute decision.

Agree Cal, that is the way i was looking at it.

Agree 2000%(if not more;))
