Totally disagree with you. We could not pay premier champion players in the lower leagues so we were always going to have lesser quality players. This going youth thing is a nonsense and we would still be down fighting in the lower leagues if we went that way. What youth player at that time has made it big apart from maybe McKay. We were also getting robbed blind by the spivs so all the money was going out the back door. Us missing a trick in the lower leagues is a massive red herring.

It is not going to happen so not really worth discussing. Once you stop you are mentally and physically drained. Look at the kranjcar experiment it is just too difficult to get that level of fitness back. Gerrard hasn't played since 2016 his legs won't handle it.
