  1. An extraordinary situation. The terms of the contract could not have been enforced by either party? Does this mean that Bain was working without a contract, on a grace and favour basis, and that he was CEO, by habit and repute?
  2. Unless of course, the rights of redemption, like Bain's contract, are invalid, and unenforceable at law. (Mr Forlanssister's observations on the other thread refer.)
  3. He was probably the best player of his age that Patrick Nevin had ever seen.
  4. Cheick Tioté, former Newcastle and Ivory Coast midfielder, dies aged 30 • Beijing Enterprises player collapsed during training in China • Ivorian won 52 caps and made more than 150 Newcastle appearances Ed Aarons @ed_aarons Monday 5 June 2017 17.11 BST First published on Monday 5 June 2017 16.45 BST The former Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tioté has died after reportedly suffering a heart attack while training with his club in China. The Ivory Coast international joined Chinese Super League side Beijing Enterprises in January having spent seven years at St James’s Park. The 30-year-old was reported to have collapsed at the training ground on Monday and taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. “I can confirm that my client Cheick Tioté sadly passed away today after collapsing in training with his club Beijing Enterprises,” said his agent Emanuele Palladino in a statement. “We cannot say any more at the moment and we request that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time. We ask for all your prayers.” A statement from Beijing Enterprises added: “During a routine training session at 6pm today, Ivory Coast player Cheik Tioté suddenly fainted and the club immediately rushed him to hospital, but unfortunately efforts to save him failed and he passed away at 7pm. The player’s relatives have been informed. Beijing Enterprises football club expresses its deep sorrow and profound condolences for Mr Tiote’s untimely death.” It is understood that Tioté has been living in China on his own since leaving the north-east in January and his wife Madah is expecting their third child this week. Former Newcastle team-mate Demba Ba, who had a spell in China but now plays for Turkish side Besiktas was among the first to offer his condolences. “May Allah gives grant you jannah brother Tiote,” he tweeted. In the all the time that I have known him, he was a true professional, dedicated and above all, a great man. Our hearts go out to his family and friends at such a sad time.” Tioté began his career in his homeland with FC Bibo before moving to Anderlecht as a teenager. He also played under Steve McClaren at FC Twente in the Netherlands before joining Newcastle in 2010 for £3.5m, going on to make more than 150 appearances. Among the highlights of the tough tackling midfielder’s career at St James’ Park was the equaliser in a 4-4 draw against Arsenal in 2011 when Alan Pardew’s side battled back from 4-0 down to snatch a point. “Goodnight brother, You will be missed. My heart goes out to his family. Gone too soon #RIPcheiktiote,” wrote former Newcastle team-mate Papiss Cissé. Tioté also won 52 caps for Ivory Coast and played in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups. A statement from the PFA read: “Desperately sad news that Cheick Tioté has passed away, aged just 30. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and former teammates.” https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jun/05/cheick-tiote-death-china-newcastle-ivory-coast
  5. Indeed. Yet some still seem to see cause for dispute and dissension.
  6. Hardly a surprise that there is no external 3rd party debt. The Big Tax Case rendered the Club toxic; Mr Craig Whyte increased the virulence of the venom, and Mr Charles Green a & Co merely added more poison to the mix. It took a very strong constitution, and a significant antidote, compiled from various sources, for the Club to survive this far.
  7. To get back on point....... What amuses me is that the media has been, is, full of articles and opinion from half educated pundits and broken down ex players questioning Pedro C, asking if he is the man to take Rangers forward/rebuild Rangers, while, of course the Man Himself, impressively, so far, gets down to doing it. Pedro does today what these blethermaisters consider talking about tomorrow, or indeed the day after......
  8. It seems pretty clear that it is a mash up, with some reportage, some rumour, and some rubbish.
  9. It makes you think..... .....think what tricks the mind may play, while one waits for the off sales to open.
  10. It's in the museum at the Camp Nou.
  11. They are hicks, but by some cruel, cruel twist of fate -heredity, as it is called- they quite to fail understand this.
  12. I think that Rangers has been quite clever here, and timed the application to ensure that it will be heard when Peter is abroad, with rahoops, on tour in Japan.
  13. To be followed by some Karma on the side, then that particular dessert best tasted cold......
  14. If all the links, half links, and assumptions come to pass, just imagine the blind, uncomprehending, impotent rage from the dark side and its media whores. Heads will burst, I tell you, heads will burst.
  15. It's Pepe. Nothing may be done until after the CL Final on Saturday.
  16. Tequila, or Port, is my guess.
  17. Well, perhaps, but as long as both of them were on the pitch, the opposition would be unlikely to cross the half way line.
  18. I'd take Pepe to play alongside him.
  19. He is leaving because he doesn't fancy fielding a team against the new, improved Rangers, that much is obvious; surely?
