  1. Bob Crampsey told a story -true, apparently- about a football commentary during WW2. I don't suppose that you heard the match coverage, although old @compomay have, unless he was serving out East with the Pioneer Corps, or somesuch. Anyway, the BBC was scheduled to provide live radio coverage of a game at Tynecastle. It may have been only of the second half, rather than the full match. No matter. Unfortunately a fog descended upon Gorgie, a pea souper, and with no prospect of it clearing, the match was postponed. At this point, the War Office contacted the BBC, fearful that the Lufwaffe, realising that the East coast was fog bound, would cancel any planned bombing raids, which, of course, would be abortive, and wasteful, in the prevailing conditions. It was agreed that the BBC, and its commentary team, would broadcast improvised coverage of a non-existent match, which, commendably, they did. Oh extempore, oh mores, as they said in the Pilton, when the story came to light. (The Hearts won 2-0, i I r c.)

  7. Defund Poileas Alba!!! (Although, it seems the SNP may have jump started this...)
  8. They are all pests, much like rasellik support.
  9. Nor, perhaps, the giant Asian hornet. Although the cane toad has caused havoc in North Australia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cane_toads_in_Australia
  10. 64% of a cane toad's diet is other cane toads.
  11. Lang may their misery continue
  12. Do you buy them new, or second-hand.
  13. At the time Valencia was kind of struggling in the League, which gave rise to the comparison. They fielded, in addition to the guys you mention, Mendieta (a player, btw), Claudio Lopez, and Kily Gonzalez, and, yes we were schooled. Anyway, are you suggesting that Aberdeen is the Betis of Scotland?
  14. A victory parade for the League Cup? Have we sunk so far?
  15. We have a side which, even while depleted, is prepared to stand up against 'wonderful European opposition' with 'international Class' players, and beat them. I'm quite pleased with that.
  16. Oh, he is world class, and a joy to watch.
  17. We also have a habit of waiting for the ball to arrive
  18. These 'class players' are done, or on their last laps. There is nothing to fear.
