  1. In fact all that was for 2011, their commercial income from last year was £101.5m. Gate income was 36.77m Turnover £255m. Players wages £83.4m
  2. PPS They only make £25m from ticket sales despite averaging over 78k attendances.
  3. PS Their shirt and stadium sponsorship bring in 8.1m and 3.6m respectively. There is certainly something wrong with our marketability.
  4. Can anyone tell me how Borussia Dortmund bring in £71.1m in commercial revenue? That's about 80 times more than the figure given for us.
  5. Something wrong with the second numbers: 13.2 + 0.8 = 14 14 + 0.7 = 14.7 14.7 + 0.9 = 15.6 15.6 + 1.705 = 17.305 So with those figures the second income total would be £17.305m.
  6. The worrying thing is the lies about the sectarianism will be taken for granted by the public and judging by the comments definitely are. While it's not something they should sing while representing their regiment both songs are not sectarian in the slightest. Imagine they sang Obama bin Laden, he's deid. Would this be considered disgusting sectarianism against Muslims in the public and media. As for Derry's walls, what's the difference between this and Flower of Scotland (which is NOT anti-English in any way). Is it not about the defence against overwhelming odds of what is either a treasonous uprising against the British crown or a foreign invasion linked to French expansionism? What is the problem with that? In fact both would be probably lauded in other countries if changed to fit. But the fact is they could have been singing Baa Baa Black Sheep and an equivalent report would have been it was racist songs without giving the song or the lyrics and people would condemn the soldiers for it as they wouldn't know any different. This is what is happening to the good name of Rangers, it's pure propaganda and without being countered will have its desired effect.
  7. How about singing songs of the Gallant Pioneers instead? You can't get a greater link to the past than that. If you miss a certain side of things, you could always join the Orange Order - you even get to wear a "beautiful" sash.
  8. Because it pretty much says we as fans are immensely overly critical and love a good moan and now we've decided to have a go at the board. It takes away the credibility of the criticism and waters it down by implying we're just too fussy for our own good. Very poor and what I've come to expect from CRO.
  9. Should the thread title be changed to "Rangers contact fashion police"?
  10. You actually think this? Definitely doesn't work; just ask Motherwell.
  11. Deeply unimpressed by CRO once again.
  12. I really don't see the sense in this at all - as amms said, lots of people post from work. Or imagine you're applying for a job and they google you and find one of your angrier posts or with expletives... Or they just don't like your opinion or the fact you spend so much time on a football forum. Or you might just disagree with a nutter online and he looks you up, finds your address and damages your car or something, never mind attacking you. Or they could complain to your employers or the police which would come to nothing but cause you great embarrassment. There's countless reasons for anonymity and it's not all about being a keyboard warrior. You may have your real name there but it actually makes no difference to me as I don't know you. It's as much of a user name to me as anyone else and for all I really know it could be an alias (a footballer from a by gone age or something) - but I don't really care one way or the other as it doesn't affect me. You don't have to be hiding anything to want your privacy and anonymity.
  13. I'm thinking that being solely on Gersnet, I seem to be oblivious to most of this.
  14. Last season we didn't really have a proper senior squad despite the wage bill. Now I think we do, although it's more of the level of the Grieg era than the Advocaat era. Using kids and young rookies is all very well in the fourth tier of a small nation, but it's a easy to have your level of naivety found out against seasoned professionals from the top league during a cup game. We've been arrogantly slagging off other teams' SPL players for decades but now we too have a team full of them. We obviously can't expect to be world beaters but we should be in the same league as them and any matches should be competitive.
  15. I think we have as much chance as any of the top six Premiership teams outside Celtic, who obviously have more of a chance. Perhaps a bit more of a chance than these teams. But like any top team, including the current Celtic and extreme examples like Advocaat's most expensive team in Scottish history, having a good or even great team guarantees nothing in a cup competition. I think we need to embrace the romance of the cup and enjoy the unpredictable journey like almost all the other fans around the world.
  16. Could that be because he doesn't have a load of moaning fans to answer to when he loses - never mind when he actually wins?
  17. You seem to be implying that he's incompetent. I think he's already proved you very wrong. I don't think anyone thinks he's some kind of amazing manager but he has certainly proven to at least be minimally competent under the most trying conditions in our history.
  18. I'm all for teams amalgamating to make a more competitive top league but don't quite see the point of this in the lower leagues where outright success is second to benefits to the community. An Angus Utd may do better in that they get to the "Championship" but you lose three local clubs that seem to be surviving on their own.
  19. I don't think it will - he's in a no win situation. He'll win the league at a canter and then be slagged off for having "too good a squad"... Like any squad of new players at any club, some will not do so well, and Ally will get the full blame for it. Many people have already decided that Ally will never be right.
  20. What do you mean? I would have thought that the buying would equal the selling...
  21. Having looked them up on Wikipedia, it seems they were a top side until the mid fifties and then went into decline. They had a mini-resurgence around the same time as the new stadium was built in the late 90's. They were at their lowest when I started giving them attention in the mid to late 80's due to having a friend who supported them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sunderland_AFC_League_positions.jpg
  22. Ironically I meant leaving Rocker was the start of the upturn in their fortunes. Before that, mid-table second division seemed to be their bread and butter. I'm only going from my fading memory of 25 odd years ago.
  23. Never thought of them as mighty... Used to spend most of their time in the second tier. Things changed after the Premiership formed and they moved from Rocker Park but the are still perennial also-rans who often flirt with relegation.
  24. I don't see how that justifies your supercilious reply...
  25. Maybe not, but when it's very easy to do and makes the article easier to read and look a bit more polished and professional then why not take that step? In fact I'd say the way we've been doing it is more difficult for an amateur to decide when to capitalise and when not to, as you have rules something like: Capitalize all major words: all words 4 letters or more, all verbs, linking verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and pronouns. Use lowercase for conjunctions, articles, and short prepositions (3 letters or less). Capitalize all words four letters or longer. Capitalize both elements of a hyphenated compound word (i.e., Death-Defying). Capitalize first word after a colon. Instead of one rule like this: Only capitalize the first letter of the first word in a heading unless the word is a proper noun or proper name. I think the capitalisation was useful before we had multiple fonts as it distinguished the heading from the body of text. It's therefore no longer needed and is definitely harder to read and doesn't look as nice. Each to their own though.
