  1. He might be worth about 1.5M which is peanuts for a lower EPL team.
  2. I think it might be best to avoid Greek teams just now... Moscow is a bit far and it's not that enjoyable to watch us play eastern block teams as they give us a hard time without any glamour. 50/50 chance (probably) of getting an English team - are we ready for that? I don't like playing English teams unless we've a good chance of a result. If we lose it only fuels their derogatory remarks about Scottish football. I think I'd like some glamour and the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid would be good. German teams seem to be our bogey so I'd like to avoid them.
  3. Actually the points from the qualifying games don't count towards the team coefficients, but they do count towards the country's. 33% of the country's coeff counts towards the team's. So if Celtic qualify they will have the same points as us.

    Taxi!!!!!

That's pretty good stuff, keep it coming.
  6. Here's my one to one between the two squads and it definitely looks to me like they definitely don't have more strength in depth. The squads look pretty even and if Celtic are ahead it's only by virtue of Nakamura. However, in my blue tinted eyes, Rangers are slightly ahead despite Nakamura. MacGregor v Boruc Carroll v Brown Smith v McGovern Hutton v Wilson Cueller v McManus Weir v Caldwell Papac v Naylor Broadfoot v Doumbe Ehiogu v Balde Webster v Pressley Smith v Kennedy Whittaker v Nakamura Ferguson v Brown Hemdani v Donati McCulloch v McGeady Burke v Sno Thomson v Hartley Buffel v Gravesen Beasley v Jarosik Adam v Riordan Darcheville v Hesselink Boyd v Miller Cousin v Zurawski Novo v McDonald Gow v Killen If they lose any players without replacing them they will definitely look a bit thin in numbers unless their youth players are a lot better than ours.
  7. I think the damning aspect for Celtic fans is that they used it against Hearts fans and therefore cannot say that, "Hun," is not sectarian due to being only a sobriquet for Rangers fans. They have been heard to use it against both Rangers and Hearts, whose only connection, perpetually and vociferously pointed out by Celtic fans, is that they have a history of being the "Protestant teams". Therefore, the insult is obviously constucted to dispargage Protestants.
  8. I think the surprising form of Cousin has pushed most Rangers fans' thoughts about Naismith well into the background. We were sceptical but Walter seems to have found what at first glance looks like a better alternative.
  9. I think the huge mistake is in Hemdani wanting to leave a team where he is successful - and a team that looks like to go on to win things.
  10. Heres a couple of OF based Scotland squads for comparison: Celtic ------ Brown Wilson McMannus Pressley Kennedy Brown Caldwell Hartley Riordan Miller Sheridan Subs: McGovern, Cuthbert, Lawson, Quinn, McGlinchey, Riley, Ferry Reserves: none Rangers -------- MacGregor Hutton Weir Webster Smith Whittaker Ferguson Thomson Adam Boyd McCulloch Subs: Smith, Broadfoot, Burke, Gow, Lennon, Lowing, Shinnie, Emslie Reserves: Gallacher, Campbell, McMillan, Perry, Kinniburgh We'd stuff them in my opinion! Here's a non OF squad for comparison: Gordon Alexander Anderson Dailly Naysmith Fletcher Teale Severin McFadden O'Conner Beattie Subs: Turner, Maloney, Murty, MacNamara, McEveley, Robson, Pearson
  11. McFadden is way off form at the moment and so I rule him out altogether. O'Connor scored in the EPL but didn't look good against SA, so he's a difficult one. Boyd has had a barren spell but has been a tad unlucky and has scored two goals in his last two games from the bench and so gets the nod from me. After SA, I think I'd really wan't McCulloch on the left flank so that rules him out. Naismith stills seem a bit too young and inexperienced for the step up to full internationals against the likes of France and Italy. So that leaves Miller who didn't look that great either. So the best of a bad lot to me would be Boyd and Miller with O'Connor as the replacement on the bench.
  12. You're probably right, just wishful thinking on my part. A scenario could be that we demanded 250k, Norwich said they couldn't afford it, so we gave him for free to get an unwanted player off the wage bill.
  13. I think Walter is still experimenting with his front pairing so I wouldn't be surprised to see Cousin and Boyd start...
  14. It does seem strange as that's our weakest part of the squad. We have three players in total for usually two and sometimes three (in Europe) slots. We've no cover if one gets injured and we're short if Hemdani leaves. I actually thought we needed one or two more players in central midfield, not one less... But if a guy wants to leave when he gets dropped from the odd game when there's a bit of competition for places, then he sounds a bit of a prima donna and not worth keeping. Maybe the last couple of seasons have not shown him that Rangers are historically a big club with a big squad where you have to fight for your place - although to be honest 25 players isn't actually that big. To get guaranteed a game you have to step down a level.
  15. 250k sounds about right for Murray.
  16. According to the Record, he's unhappy at being dropped and instructed his agents to put the feelers out. Sounds a bit petty to me.
  17. 5 starts, 5 subs
  18. Lyon and Marseille's positions are a surprise.
  19. With Sebo and Murray gone, that's 25 first team players left: McGr Carl Smit Hutn Weir Cuel Papc Bdft Ehig Webs Smit Whit Ferg Thom McCl Burk Hemd Bufl Beas Adam Boyd Darc Novo Cusn Gow Looks to me like we're short of a couple of full backs although Broadfoot, Papac and Whittaker can all fill in, and Adam too at a push. But with Smith's injury looking ominous, a left back seems like a priority. A creative, central midfielder would be good too, for when Ferguson is injured or suspended, unless Buffel can fulfill that role. I still think Buffel and Ehiogu are not really in the plans and Smith's absence is enforced, leaving a current first team of 22. A bit thin for the long term.
  20. With regards point 2, I presume there is concern that Celtic's turnover is now 75M compared to ours at 42M. About 15 million of the difference will be due to the costs of selling merchandise, while the profits for this are comparable. It's the difference between spending 15M to make 20M or spending nothing but making 5M. In both cases you make a profit of 5M but the first one has the highest turnover. The second is far easier though and the income is guaranteed. So it's obvious from this example, that profit is more important than turnover.
  21. Cousin has already scored more goals than Sebo...
  22. Finally we give the fringe players a game to get their match fitness and confidence up.
  23. Which paper is it?
