  1. Not long back, from what was one of the coldest afternoons of my life! It just seemed to plummet from 2pm onwards, by the end I couldn't feel my hands or feet, my niece had given up any form of communication, and was mumbling gibberish(not for the first time:lol:) I feel its incredibly difficult to play against a side who are intent on playing 11 behind the ball, although, as many have said, our final third is dreadful, we have no cutting edge and are desperately missing a poacher. It is all very predictable however, arguably that is always going to be the case when a side comes to sit deep. It proved to be a very long, cold and difficult afternoon and in the end we got the three points and we move on to Partick Thistle. Hill and Kiernan are looking very comfortable at the back, which is the one main positive I have taken from the last few games, long may it continue. I am pleased on a personal note, we had a bit of fortune fall our way and eventually got the win as it rounded off quite an emotional day. Three points is three points, we are not playing badly, teams are intent on spoiling tactics but we kept going to the end. That for me shows a lot of character.
  2. Cheers for publishing that Frankie! Thanks again for everyone's comments over the past year. Looking forward to tomorrow's match, let's hope MOH puts in a great shift again! What a difference he makes.
  3. I go down and usually buy two plastic bottles of Ginger at half time, sprite and Irn Bru. You can but them in the shop for between 79p-1.09. £2.50 from the kids tuck shop and what in effect used to be a 10p mixture(can you remember them??) that I used to buy from the Van when I was is a kid is now a £1 from the tuck shop:shock: I don't know if they have those tuck shops anywhere else in the stadium? They are actually ok if you want juice/crisps/sweets or chocolate and don't mind paying obscene prices.
  4. Thanks for the kind comments lads!
  5. Could whoever is on Admin fix my "Ranger" heading with the appropriate "s" please? Its late, I need to sleep:redface:
  6. On the first of May 2008, Nacho Novo scored one of the most memorable goals I have ever seen. It was a moment in my life I will never forget. I had watched wee Nacho score many a goal however, this was special, I watched it with my late partner, Jean, and it was the kick that took us to the UEFA cup final in Manchester. I remember being on my knees and then royally screaming in delight as the wee man scored that penalty that took us to the final. Nacho was brought to Ibrox from Dundee on 06th July 2004, for a cost of around £450k, in my opinion and that of many others, it was an absolute steel, as he would go on to score many a goal for Rangers, and arguably none more so than that night in Italy. There have been many players who have donned both dark and light blue, Bomber Brown, Claudio Canniggia, Gavin Rae and Zurab Khizanishvila spring to mind, however I am sure there are many more that will come to mind, and have had the privilege of wearing the light blue after a spell at Dens Park. On our first meeting with the dark blues this season, a superb first half display and goals from Harry Forrester and Kenny Miller were enough to see off a spirited second half performance from the home side. It must be said however that although our performance in the first half that day was exceptional our second half performance was like many this season, well below par. At the end of the match we walked away with three points and a satisfactory 2-1 victory at a venue most had expected a very tough match. We welcome Dundee to Ibrox this Saturday, a welcome return to premiership football after the mediocrity, at best, of the international break. A very brief point from that break is that I felt big Waldo had an excellent game at left back, personally I hope he saves himself for first team football with Rangers. Our last match at Ibrox saw us leave with a comfortable 3-0 win and our display was by far the most composed, professional and pleasing to watch of the season. We took the foot of the gas after around 60 minutes, which left the final 30 minutes of the match very pedestrian, Kilmarnock sitting in and we were not looking to add a gloss finish to what was already a job well done. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, the respect that was shown from the fans during our remembrance, was, as usual a credit to themselves and the club. It was a fitting way to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who are left with life changing injuries due to the selfless courage in defending our country and our freedom. It was also my privilege to be there with my niece who at 8 years old shows great understanding and respect for those who defend our nation. The only down side to the performance mentioned above was the following performance away to Ross County, which was dreadful. However, best not to dwell on negatives and look at the positives of our last home match and look to replicate that fine performance again with a good performance and victory against what will surely be a well organised and motivated Dundee side under manager Paul Hartley. I still hope that MW will stick to the team that played so well against Kilmarnock, starting with MOH and Garner up front. I genuinely feel at the moment that side is the strongest we have and we should perceiver with it until we may think about strengthening during the transfer window. Playing a 4-3-3 of Foderingham in goal with a back four of Tavernier, Kiernan, Hill and Wallace. Our midfield again comprising of Halliday, Holt and Windass with MOH, Garner and Miller up front. I know there are many who are of the opinion that miller should be rested from time to time, I felt he was our best performer in Dingwall and he always look available. I notice Garner is showing good signs and although he didn’t look great in the highlands, none of them looked anything to should about and I felt he was and is coming on to a game. I suspect it may be Millers work ethic that is rubbing off on him. Let’s hope they all pick it back up this Saturday. I will predict a 3-1 home victory, I have not had a coupon up this season, Saturday would be a good time to start. It would certainly be nice if we had the luxury of being able to call on someone of wee Nacho’s ability and terrier like personality at the moment in front of goal. That night in Italy is a fond memory of which I have many spending watching Rangers with my late partner Jean. It will be a year on 22nd of November since she passed, fighting a battle she couldn’t win, one many of us know all too well, against a cruel and unforgiving cancer. Jean was a Rangers supporter since birth and like us all, Rangers was a way of life. It’s been a long and hard year for me which has been made just a little more tolerable from time to time, coming on here and posting or like this, writing a preview for a match. It’s a genuine big thanks to everyone on here for their rantings of the day which have frequently cheered me up. It goes without saying that this Saturday I will lay some flowers for Jean and will be thinking of her when we take to the field. A good performance and three more points will be the order of the day. C’mon Eh Bears!
  7. I get a bit of stick for constantly going on about the defence, sorry but its glaring us in the face again. How can the guy possibly be allowed that amount of space?? Nobody near his post code:brick:
  8. Great header from Clint Hill, nice to have some form of aerial presence at last
  9. Yeeeeeesssssssss!!!
  10. I will be honest, them getting 10 is not a pleasant thought for me, at all. It is a very real possibility although we would have to hope that over the next 2-3 years we will have our chance to stop them?. Problem is we don't look near them at the moment and while the fat man is lingering like a dose of anthrax we are financially incapable of mounting a challenge.
  11. Am I still scheduled to do Dundee Pete:thup:?? I am still reading the forum at the minute just not posting as up to my neck in essays mate:facepalm:
  12. 100% with Boabie on that. Should the appeal not go our way they will be all over us like a "primary dose of Ebola"!!
  13. Easy up JFK, if people(ie, me)are big enough to say they misjudged someone it's a bit rude to rub it in so to speak. Fwiw as I said at the time I am happy to be proved wrong, let's hope Garner continues with the confidence as he looks a smashing player. He should try and leave out the "afters" and the off the ball stuff though, it will get him sent off one of these days. I think that may be part of his game.
  14. I just feel in general over the piece this season he has been our most consistent in midfield. In all honesty Pete they all drifted out the game as it fizzled out towards the end.
  15. Great day, great performance and wonderful to watch. I feel that should be the starting eleven next week and see how we go. I can feel an apology to How Garner coming from me the way things are going, he was fantastic again today. They all were tbh. Imo by far the best this season and MOH is the star man. I also think Jason holt has been our best and most consistent player all season and was great again today.
  16. Touching on something JFK said on another thread, if we could just get our act together In the final third we could really start punishing sides. Apart from the match v unwashed twice when we rarely got a look in tbh every other game we have a lot of the ball but try and walk it in which can be frustrating as we give it away regular doing this. I genuinely hope Garner starts today, let's hope we see more of what he produced on Wednesday.
  17. Ha Ha Ha!! Pmsl Friday night giggles sat on the bus! Tell it how it is mate, no holding back!
  18. Just seen it come up on SSN dB. I wonder if we will get a statement??
  19. The last time the two clubs met we were all off on a jaunt down to Killie on a Friday night. It was a superb second half equaliser from James Tavernier that provided a welcome piece of magic and a point that night after Kris Boyd lost two stone and ghosted past our defence to slot one under Wes in the first half. I've always enjoyed being down a Killie over the years, nipping into the Killie club and enjoying the famous Killie pie hospitality at half time. Out of all the away grounds in the SPL its by far my favourite, and to be honest the fans are the least hostile of any, most are actually very hospitable and make us feel welcome. We meet again this Saturday after a difficult few games that have left many of us wondering what the future holds and some of us wondering where we can find the spark we have lost?. In truth the Betfred Semi Final at Hampden was always a big ask, however I feel the biggest surprise that day was that MW it would seem, was resigned to his fate long before kick off and imo he was aware that the possibility of another 4/5-0 drubbing would see him under serious pressure from some and therefore adjusted his team selection accordingly to minimise any damage. His after match comments provide evidence of this such was his relief and relative satisfaction with a 1-0 defeat. I am writing this on Thursday morning after the match on Wednesday night, again we didn't take many of our chances, our final third is pretty non existent and we can only hope for improvement v Kilmarnock on Saturday. There has never in my lifetime been any animosity between Rangers and Kilmarnock and we look forward to inviting them to Ibrox on Saturday. We need to find a spark from somewhere?. Its sadly missing and if we are honest the injury to Nico was a dreadful piece of timing and a terrible setback. He was the one player with that piece of quality, the bit of magic to change a game. We go into the match with many questioning the wisdom of MW and DW, and indeed the pressure is mounting, to suggest its not would be foolish. However we need to ask ourselves what would someone else do with the same resources at the moment? Its not a question of what MW did with the transfer budget in the summer, not at the moment anyway as no matter who is there we still have the same squad of players. Personally I feel that yes questions are there to be answered, I know we are not what many were expecting, myself included, and its hard work to watch at times but we are Rangers Supporters, we are there to support the team and right now the team needs that support. I sincerely hope that on Saturday, win, lose or draw, the fans get behind the team. I know there is much apathy amongst us at the moment and the Atmosphere at Ibrox can be dreadful, lets not make it worse though by draining the players of what little confidence they have and try and immerse some positive energy in their direction, lets be honest, it cant be any less effective than some of the anxious cries from the stand last night. Its difficult to pick a side at the moment as I'm not sure who will be fit or not on Saturday but I would start with Gilks in goal, I felt apart from a terrible mistake in the fist half v Celtic he had an excellent game and Wes has made several errors during the season and he is still not the quickest getting down. I would go with a back four of Tavernier, Hill, Wilson/Kiernan and Hodson. Wallace needs dropped or rested, whatever way MW wants to spin it. Midfield of Halliday(Captain) Holt and Windass and up front Forrester, Garner and Miller. This leaves us both MOH and Mckay to bring on for pace around the 60/70 min mark should we need them. This brings me to Garner. I have slated this guy for weeks, and I saw something last night. Energy and commitment, especially after his goal in the first half. I don't mind eating my words especially when it comes to Rangers. I hope it wasn't a one off and he continues to progress and get in about defences. He does look more like a player playing in a two but he has the perfect model in Kenny miller to learn from, he certainly has the energy, even at 28 Garner can still learn from a man who will be 37 this December and still has bundles of energy.
  20. Same where I sit too Ian, minus the blows:crazy:
  21. I don't really have much constructive to say about tonight. I have to be honest, I thought for the most part we were awful, just terrible. There is no creativity, what little we had in Nico has gone now. I actually get the impression there are quite a few who are getting fed up watching the same toothless pish. The same again at the end with only a few minutes left we are at the fanny at the back? Wes ended up he cant even find a man, after a Sunday stroll up to the ball? In contrast to watching on the Telly, when your at the game(loose term) you see or I see that there are large parts of the game when the side just look demotivated, there is no fear of losing, they are not really that bothered and anyone of them that tells you that, as a team, they are, I feel is being disingenuous. Its brain damage watching it at times. I appreciate its been worse in the eyes of many with Ally however at the moment its dire at times. I will always go to the match as that's just me, however don't be surprised if the attendances start to fall away. I'm not condoning that before anyone slaughters me, its just an observation. I'm not even going to say that we could improve on Saturday, we wont, I'm afraid this is it until maybe we get some help in January but to be honest its going to be a long long long few years by the looks of it.
  22. Whit?? Are you having an "unbalanced episode" mate?? Ffs lol!
  23. I haven't forgotten I'm doing preview for sat lads, I'm just very busy at the moment at Uni(no laughing at the back!) so not on as much. It will be up tomorrow as usual ?
