COPS are set to probe sick thugs who daubed a death threat to Rangers No2 Ally McCoist, at a graveyard where Ibrox legends are buried. Yobs defaced Craigton Cemetery in Glasgow with the words 'Hang McCoist'. Last night a Rangers spokesman said the club was "disgusted" by the slur on assistant boss McCoist. Cops said they would investigate. Club heroes buried at Craigton include ex-boss Bill Struth. Meanwhile, a further twisted Facebook web page showing Celtic boss Lennon showered in blood has been set up. I'd go for a rendition of '' stand up for the champions '' as they belted out their pathetic LB love in and keep it going until they're done.

STEPHEN THOMPSON last night moved to distance Dundee United from the statement issued by the ArabTRUST following Tuesday's game against Rangers. The fans' group has complained to the SPL, SFA and Tayside Police about alleged sectarian singing during Gers' 4-0 win. That has inflamed tensions after UEFA's decision to charge Rangers for chants during the European matches against PSV Eindhoven. That could see them playing behind closed doors in Europe next season and have away fans banned from travelling. United owner Thompson has been left dismayed at the ArabTRUST for their comments. He is understood to have contacted both Rangers and the SPL yesterday to stress the fans' group were not speaking on behalf of his club. He slapped down the ArabTRUST board and believes authorities are working to eradicate sectarianism. Thompson said: "I am aware of what ArabTRUST have said. "They are entitled to whatever view they want to have but they do not represent Dundee United. "ArabTRUST are not speaking on behalf of the football club. We have a good relationship with Rangers and all clubs are working hard to eradicate sectarianism." Thompson helped launch United's season ticket package for next season yesterday and appealed for fans to continue to back the club. He said: "We are no different from any other club, the fans will be crucial to the future. "There has been a big thing made about the amount of players leaving but from the team which beat Rangers at Ibrox recently ten from the 11 will be here next year. "Peter Houston will be looking to bring players in during the transfer window. I'm confident the team will continue to flourish next season." "We have done our best to freeze prices for the Early Bird offer." Read more: http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3540587/My-club-didnt-shop-Gers-fans.html#ixzz1KCfZbrr2

It could be anyone, that's true, but when you read the likes of this it would seem minds are already nade up by some. Police try to calm fears of Celtic supporters before trip to Ibrox • Police play down speculation of random attacks on fans • Every officer on duty for trip to play Rangers in Old Firm game Strathclyde police have appealed for calm among Celtic supporters ahead of Sunday's Old Firm game amid fears they could be targeted in a similar form to the club's manager, Neil Lennon. Rangers are in danger of losing up to 20,000 season ticket holders if the takeover situation is not concluded soon, according to president of the Rangers Supporters Assembly, Andy Kerr. The Ibrox club and its fans are in limbo after chairman Alastair Johnston revealed his intention to explore a shock plan B after casting doubt on the merits of Scottish businessman Craig Whyte's takeover bid, which has been in the pipeline for six months. Kerr said: There is a minority (of fans) who feel the board have lost the plot. But it leaves us needing a decision sooner rather than later, especially with regards season tickets which the club has relied on in a big way since the days of Graeme Souness in the late 1980s." USA-based Johnston revealed that an unnamed Ibrox director had proposed a "fresh issue of new capital" so that £25million could be invested directly into the debt-hit club. Whyte's deal was expected to be completed on Monday and he is understood to be angry after agreeing a deal with majority shareholder Sir David Murray and main creditor Lloyds Banking Group. A source close to Whyte claimed that his offer was worth £52.5million, with around half of that figure believed to have been earmarked for investment in the playing squad over five years. While questions remain unanswered about how the alternative bid will be funded, and which director is behind it, Kerr admits fans will continue to question whether investing in a season ticket is the right idea. He added: "They will see this takeover as tiresome and as a net result we could be down by as many as 20,000 season tickets. That will be a huge capital investment missing from the club. I think there are around 38,000 season ticket holders at the moment. "So getting the situation sorted is pivotal to keeping people on board."

I've a feeling Sunday could turn into chaos, especially when the Rangers triumph.Seriously concerned about this after all that has gone on this season, the BHEASTS are in rabid mode and will not take defeat,a real powder keg. Top QC expresses regret after scathing attack on the SFA as association announces it will not proceed with defamation case. The Scottish Football Association have withdrawn the threat of legal action against Paul McBride QC after the lawyer expressed regret over the offence caused by his criticism of the organisation. McBride last week launched a scathing attack on the SFA after Rangers trio Ally McCoist, Madjid Bougherra and El-Hadji Diouf escaped without bans following misconduct charges emanating from the infamous Scottish Cup replay against Celtic. McBride had previously represented Celtic manager Neil Lennon before the same disciplinary committee this season and accused the SFA of bias. The QC's comments drew a stinging response from SFA chief executive Stewart Regan, but the pair have since held conciliatory talks. McBride, who was the target of a parcel bomb found in a Kilwinning post box on Friday, released a statement through Press Association Sport on Wednesday evening. It read: "In the course of an interview given to BBC Scotland on April 12, 2011, I made a number of remarks which followed the decision made at the disciplinary hearing involving Rangers FC players and their assistant manager. "Following discussions with the Scottish Football Association, I recognise that offence has been taken to my remarks by the Scottish Football Association as an organisation, its council and its staff, and for that I express regret. "I have a lot of respect for many individuals within the SFA, not least Stewart Regan. "Under his leadership, I anticipate many reforms which will be welcomed across Scotland." Regan, who will put his major overhaul of the SFA's disciplinary procedures to clubs at the organisation's AGM next month, welcomed the statement. He said: "Following constructive discussions with Paul McBride, I can confirm that the Scottish FA will not proceed with either a defamation case against him or a complaint to the Faculty of Advocates. "Whilst anyone is entitled to criticise the Scottish FA, we cannot allow our integrity to be challenged. "Now that this issue is behind us, we can concentrate on the internal and constitutional reforms which will benefit Scottish football going forward." http://sport.stv.tv/football/244558-sfa-withdraws-threat-of-legal-action-against-paul-mcbride-qc/

HE'S a Rangers man with a head for figures. If he gets his wish Paul Murray could soon be the man who is Gers' figurehead. The 46-year-old dyed-in-the-wool Rangers fan has made a successful career for himself juggling with numbers. But now the wealthy Borders-based chartered accountant has a board game ahead of him - with the Ibrox club sitting as the top prize. SunSport can reveal the Rangers director with the plan to take over the club he loves has held hush-hush behind-the-scenes talks with Sir David Murray for four days now. And with Craig Whyte's rival bid to gain control now teetering on the brink of total collapse, Paul Murray's proposal is now regarded by many within the Ibrox corridors of power as the ONLY way ahead. Murray - no relation to majority shareholder Sir David - has joined ranks with South African multi-millionaire Dave King and motoring tycoon Douglas Park to piece together a package. And SunSport can reveal Plan B would mean: GERS never again being tied to the financial fortunes of ONE man. A spreading of the financial burden among a wealthy consortium with others joining King and Park. LLOYDS Bank STAYING as Gers bankers with the club pledging to service a debt that is expected to plunge down to around a manageable £15million mark this summer. It's understood the financial guarantees which have been discussed would blow the Whyte deal out of the water. And that is far more appealing to the football men of Ibrox who have kept the club on top of the pile in fraught times. SunSport can reveal Paul Murray aims to give boss-to-be Ally McCoist a transfer war chest of a whopping £20MILLION for a megabucks spending spree this summer. That's the amount of money the Ibrox football department have told wannabe owner Whyte is required to properly revamp the current playing squad. The money would allow Gers to KEEP stars such as Steven Davis, Madjid Bougherra and Allan McGregor - who have been offered extensions. McCoist would also be able to delve into the transfer market and attempt to sign tried and tested talent for next season. Gers have had that sort of investment at regular intervals in recent years. In 1997 investment company ENIC ploughed £40m into the club. Then around four years later cash-rich businessman King stepped in to pour around £20m into Gers' struggling financial funds. The most recent cash injection saw Gers sell their club shops to sports firm JJB for an initial fee of £18m with a further £2m-a-year. With money now too tight to mention Ibrox and Murray Park have been neglected and Paul Murray's proposal would also see around £7m set aside to pay necessary renovation costs, while he could also have to foot a massive £2.8m tax bill. Those are the figures which simply stack up much better than the Whyte deal in the eyes of the current Rangers board. And that's why Whyte's bid to buy the club has been shunted over to one side, much to his fury. There have been growing concerns within Rangers' boardroom for some time now that Whyte did not have the financial muscle to take Gers where they wanted to go. Whyte DID convince Sir David Murray to sell his 92 per cent controlling stake with Lloyds Bank also willing to rubber-stamp a deal. The Gers board were also initially reluctant to step in to block the talks and were willing to sanction the takeover if Whyte proved he had the dough to give McCoist a fighting chance in his first season as boss. But chairman Alastair Johnston acted to derail the Whyte bid when he saw the detailed financial plan he had formulated. It's been reported until now that Whyte planned to spend £52.5m of his own money to buy out current owner Sir David Murray. He'd pay £18m of debt to Lloyds Bank and hand over a significant transfer kitty to new gaffer McCoist for next season. But those figures have not materialised to the satisfaction of the concerned Ibrox board, who were stunned to learn that Whyte's funds only ran to a paltry £9m. That money would have been split between £4m costs to renovate Ibrox and Murray Park, with just £5m dedicated to contracts and new players. With the playing squad in such dire need of investment alarm bells started ringing. And Whyte failed to convince the men who matter he had an understanding of what was required. Director Paul Murray DOES have a grasp of the inner workings of Gers. Some Rangers supporters remain unconvinced as he appears to have stood in the way of the Whyte masterplan. But the fact he first became involved with the Gers youth development board back in 2004 shows he does have the best interests of Rangers at heart. The ball is now firmly in owner Murray's court as he decides whether or not he's prepared to do business with his namesake. The discussions he's held with Paul Murray in recent days have been promising and could gather pace in the weeks ahead. Under the Paul Murray/King alliance, the steel tycoon would NOT receive the same initial payment of around £3.2m for his share of the club that Whyte was willing to hand over. But Sir David would be promised a lump sum further down the line once there had been a share issue to dilute his stake. His reputation among Rangers supporters has hit an all-time low after 23 years at the helm of the club, and he knows this is the time to step aside. RANGERS have learned it WAS a Scottish campaigner behind the damning FARE dossier sent to UEFA. Gers face playing two Euro games behind closed doors and a hefty £100,000 fine after they were hit with TWO charges of sectarian singing by supporters. The SPL champs have been targeted by anti-racism group FARE and are back in the dock following the recent Europa League last-16 clashes against PSV. FARE director Piara Powar insisted last week that his employee had no political, religious or football affiliations. But SunSport can reveal the person behind the complaint about Gers is a Scot. Rangers remain convinced a deliberate and targeted campaign exists against them. Just one Rangers fan was nicked in Eindhoven compared to 63 PSV arrests. And Gers want to know why no investigation into the Dutch club's supporters has been launched. An insider close to the investigation told SunSport: "There is concern about a lack of transparency. "No one is saying anyone has to be named publicly, but there has to be accountability in the process. "That is the only fair and just way of going forward so everyone can have confidence that an even-handed approach is taken." Gers chief Martin Bain will represent the club at the UEFA disciplinary hearing in Switzerland next week. But FARE chief Powar last night insisted: "The reports were gathered as part of an ongoing monitoring programme prompted by concerns at sectarian singing at previous Rangers matches in Europe. "There is debate in some quarters as to the qualification of the FARE observer at the games. "I can confirm the person involved has no political, religious or football affiliations that would bring into question their ability to act as a neutral observer. "There are suggestions emanating from Rangers of 'a deliberate and targeted campaign against the club', but we have no axe to grind with any club." Members of ArabTRUST have reported that illegal sectarian chants were sung by 'fans' of Glasgow Rangers at Tannadice Park last night. These chants were heard throughout the stadium and ArabTRUST condemns these so-called supporters who bring down their football club and tarnish the reputation of our national sport. ArabTRUST has accordingly reported the matter to the relevant authorities. Amongst many deplorable chants, at 9.06 pm, the following could clearly be heard in the stadium and on BBC Radio Scotland: We are Rangers Super Rangers No one likes us We don’t care We hate Celtic F****n b******s We will chase them anywhere We now challenge both the SFA and UEFA to take action. These chants have also been reported to Tayside Police and we await the outcome. We are fully aware that many Glasgow Rangers supporters share our concerns. It is time that both sectarianism and bigotry are ended in Scottish football, and Scottish society as a whole. We invite all supporters' trusts to join together so that we may eradicate such vile prejudices. Sandy Jardine recalls receiving a death threat from the IRA during the 1974 World Cup. The threat was aimed at him and Willie Ormond before the Yugoslavia game, and security was increased. Paratroopers were brought in, every one of them over six feet tall, and they were lined up so that Sandy and Willie could walk between them to avoid sharpshooters. The rest of the players treated it as a wee joke and a laugh, and Sandy never gave it too much thought. He didn't think it was serious and the security gave him some comfort. That World Cup was different to what everyone had been expecting because of the heightened media focus and everything going out on TV, so it was new and strange. The palyers got used to detah threats and the heightened security around them. As a player and a team that was the highlight of Sandy's career, so his main focus was on the football and wanting to do well. http://programmes.stv.tv/the-football-years/1974/the-full-story/227952-the-full-story-the-world-cup-invincible-failures-sandy-jardine/ -

Celtic fans catalogue of death threats against footballer and his baby Extracts from Rangers' Spanish football player Nacho Novo's autobiography. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/2967454/Play-in-Old-Firm-match-and-you-die.html#ixzz0nZSyzI5r "NET neds, RIP slogans, death threats, car vandalism - then Celtic 'fans' put my ADDRESS on the internet. I learned of it in an early evening call from a pal and was sent into a fury. Who? Where? Why? B*******! What the... ? So many thoughts started to go through my mind. What's going to happen now? Will anyone try anything? They better not come near my family. A Celtic 'fans' forum had posted my full home address and my car registration number. They were urging people to come and pay me and my family 'a visit'. It's common knowledge when Rangers play all their away games. What if someone came to the house when I was away? I would not have my family under threat. That night, the club arranged for plainclothes security guys to sit in a car outside my house. I was advised that, for my family's safety, and mine, they'd be there around the clock for two weeks. I couldn't believe it had come to this. But I had no option. Now I was always under the impression that everything you did online was traceable. Here we were with conclusive proof of who posted my full home address and my car registration number. Surely an open-and-shut case? Well, if anyone was ever arrested over the incident then someone forgot to tell me. The whole internet saga led to a new song. It's not quite as sinister as wanting me to die in my sleep from a bullet from the IRA, which was the other one I used to hear being sung at me during Old Firm games. This new song proclaimed that the Celtic support 'know where you stay Nacho Novo'. And they did. Thanks to some anonymous internet coward. Every time I play at Celtic there's an individual who waits at the side of the bus and abuses me in Spanish when we walk off to go into the stadium - it's as if he goes out of his way to try to offend me. The reality is I am embarrassed for him, he's so driven by hate that he queues up simply to abuse me. According to what he shouts at me, because I am Spanish that must make me a Catholic and as a Catholic I should never have signed for Rangers. I've disgraced my religion by choosing the blue half of Glasgow. The only problem I have with all this is I'm NOT a Catholic - in fact I'm not very religious at all. That doesn't seem to matter to him though.Another phone call back in January sounded all too familiar. 'Have you seen what they've done on the internet this time? They've set up a Facebook page looking for a million people to say they hate you.' I started to laugh, it's all so juvenile and sad. 'That's not all Nacho. They've said some things, some things about you and Javier'. I lost the plot - Javier, my baby son, was only in this world a matter of days and there was no need to bring him into it. I tried to calm myself down. However, it was in the wake of the petrol attack on DaMarcus Beasley's car and some internet hardman had decided he wanted my car registration number so he could burn my new baby son and me alive. THE envelope that lay on the doormat in my fiancee's Inverkip flat delivered the chilling threat. There was no name on the front but there was no doubt who it was aimed at. The scrawled writing said: "If you play against Celtic on Sunday, you will get ******g done in. We'll kill you, you Rangers b******." I read it a couple of times before it sank in. A crucial Old Firm clash at Parkhead in February 2005 was looming and the off-field problems I'd encountered since signing for Rangers had escalated to a whole new level. There had been some unsavoury incidents but Donna, my fiancee, and I had tried not to let it bother us. They were morons, scum, I would say to her. But this was a DEATH THREAT. I didn't know what to do. My fear was that if the police had come to see me and had a look at the letter - and it had then leaked to the press which would have been extremely likely - there would be a huge circus before the game. That was the last thing I wanted. Donna and I decided to keep it between us. Looking back, maybe that wasn't the right call. But would they have found the person responsible? Highly unlikely. I was a shaken by the whole thing, concerned for Donna and the two boys, Dylan and Ross, as she would be in the flat herself over the next few days. I felt the best option would be to ignore it, answer these scumbags ON the pitch. I was determined to go out and show them that I would not be intimidated by anyone or anything. I played and scored the second goal as we won 2-0. There have been some really disturbing things I've had to endure as a Rangers player in Glasgow. Forget the car trashings and numerous tyre-slashings - I was attacked in the street in broad daylight in the middle of Glasgow out shopping with my family! We didn't bother too much with reporting a catalogue of car vandalism to the police. Maybe we should have, things were about to take a sinister turn. I'd just scored my first goal against Celtic in a 2-0 win at Ibrox. I never go out after Old Firm matches into the city and just went back to Donna's flat. The next day we just lounged around and watched some DVDs. I was very tired and slept a lot as I always do after games. On the Sunday night we went out to get a takeaway. Both of us jumped into the car and as we drove out the lights shone on the huge fence around the building. 'Novo RIP' had been painted in huge, white letters. Donna and I still laugh about this as my English wasn't the greatest. As I stared at the graffiti I kept saying: "Novo rip, Novo rip". She sighed: "Nacho, that means Rest In Peace. It's what they say when people die!" I was going off my head. I couldn't believe that someone would do such a thing, daub such a sickening message outside where your fiancee lived. We reported it to the police. Rangers were also very concerned and the club's security people talked to the police to air their concerns about the amount of things that were going on without anyone ever being caught. That pleased me, but didn't fully put my mind at rest. There was always a lingering fear things could start up again. They did. Myself, Dylan, Ross, Donna and her aunt Maureen had been enjoying a day's shopping. Out of nowhere this guy ran alongside me and the next thing - bang - he turned, looked at me square-on and punched me right on the side of the face. I was dazed. Donna hadn't seen what had happened as it was over so quickly but Maureen was shouting: "That guy just punched Nacho." The guy turned and started running. He had been drinking in a pub on the corner. I flipped. I took off after him and caught up quickly. I tripped him up. I was in a rage. How dare he punch me for no reason in front of my family? I started laying in to him as he scrambled about on the ground. He was outside the door of the pub now and Donna, the kids and Maureen soon arrived and tried to haul me away. Some of the guys in the pub emerged at the door, as did the manager. I stopped hitting the guy and he was held up in the doorway of the pub. I was going mad, shouting and bawling at him. My face was stinging. He had smacked me big-time. His pal said to Donna when she asked what the hell he was playing at: "We were sitting having a pint. He was just looking out the window and he said 'Hold on, I'll be back in a minute' before he put his pint down. "The next thing he ran out the door. He's a Celtic fan. He doesn't like Novo." This guy hated me so much that he would leave his friends while having a quiet drink, run outside a bar and sneak up on a footballer and punch him because he didn't like him. I was livid. I just shook my head and walked away. He muttered: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it." But he'd meant it alright." http://ifyouknowtheirhistory.blogspot.com/2010/05/celtic-fans-catalogue-of-death-threats.html -

"So I was trying to escape from all my problems in drink. "My head seemed to be about to explode with all the things nagging me." NEW Celtic boss Neil Lennon has lost nearly EUR650,000 on a failed property firm - and the man he set it up with was embroiled in an IRA money laundering racket, the Irish Sunday Mirror can reveal. Lennon's business partner Julian Dowe had his house seized by anti-crime chiefs as part of the biggest ever investigation into the financing of the IRA in Britain, we have learned. And, as well as losing a large slice of his own savings in the collapsed firm, Hoops hero Lennon is now being sued for more than EUR3million by the Bank of Ireland which loaned money to the project. The extraordinary revelations come in the week Celtic appointed former captain Lennon, 38, as caretaker manager after the sacking of flop boss Tony Mowbray. Parkhead chiefs will be concerned that fans' favourite Lennon, hit in the past by a series of sex scandals, will now be engulfed in lengthy and high-profile legal action relating to his business dealings. Lennon set up a property development firm in Ireland in December, 2005, with former professional footballer Dowe, we reveal today. But, embarrassingly for Lennon, within months of founding the firm, Dowe was caught up in a massive pounds 11million IRA money laundering scam. There is no suggestion that Lennon has been accused of any involvement. Dowe's EUR250,000 property in Manchester was targeted by investigators who alleged he was an associate of Thomas 'Slab' Murphy, the IRA's former chief of staff. British investigators won a court order under Proceeds of Crime laws to confiscate the home from Dowe on the grounds he was involved in a mortgage fraud connected to the IRA laundering scam. Dowe, 34, later resigned as a director of Lennon's firm, which was set up to build 61 luxury homes on a prime site near the M1 at Dundalk, Co Louth. Now, the firm which Lennon set up, called Rocket Developments, has collapsed without a single house being built - leaving fuming Lennon out of pocket to the tune of EUR646,000. Worried Lennon has now hired one of the country's top barristers to begin court action in the High Court to recover the cash, which he invested in the company when it was set up. Meanwhile, the Bank of Ireland has filed a separate lawsuit against Lennon seeking to recover around EUR3million which it loaned to the company. Lennon intends to vigorously contest the bank's action - filed at the High Court in Dublin in November last year - in what could be a lengthy and highly expensive legal wrangle. A source said: "The bank is trying to make Neil the fall guy for the firm going down. "It's a nightmare scenario for him. "He's suing to get his money back - while being sued himself by the bank. "Neil insists that the bank is totally wrong and is determined to fight his corner all the way. "But, obviously, if the bank wins, which his lawyers say is very unlikely, he's facing shelling out the best part of EUR3million plus legal fees - which is one heck of a lot of money. "And, apart from all that, there's the issue of his former codirector being caught up in an IRA money laundering investigation w h i c h h e knew nothing about. It really is the stuff of nightmares." Lennon and former striker Dowe were football trainees at Manchester City. Whereas Lennon, from Lurgan, Co Armagh, went on to star for Leicester and then captain Celtic, Dowe faded away from football after spells with non-league clubs. In December, 2005, at the height of the property boom, Lennon and his co-director Dowe founded Rocket Developments Ltd to build a new housing estate close to the main Dublin-Belfast motorway. The firm paid around EUR3.5m for the plot - six acres of muddy fields which now lie empty and are up for sale again. And, with thousands of new-build houses lying unsold across the country, the once prime-site near the M1 is now worth an estimated EUR350,000, just 10 per cent of what the firm paid for it. Planning permission was applied for in March, 2006. Then in October, 2006, Dowe's home was one of dozens of houses and flats across Manchester frozen by the Assets Recovery Agency in the biggest investigation ever conducted into IRA money laundering and mortgage fraud. The operation followed a raid on IRA chief Murphy's Irish home in which records were found of a massive trail of pounds 11m worth of properties stretching across Greater Manchester. The agency said the properties were part of an intricate laundering and racketeering operation linked to the IRA. Dowe's home and 35 other properties were eventually confiscated following lengthy court battles which concluded in June last year. Dowe's house - a large semi-detached villa - was one of the first to be successfully seized. The Assets Recovery Agency, set up to remove houses, cars and other proceeds of crime from villains, alleged in court papers that Dowe was an associate of IRA chief Murphy. And the agency said that Dowe had committed a mortgage fraud to buy the property, which he purchased in 2005. The house has now been sold to a new owner. Shortly after the home was seized, Dowe quit the board of Rocket Developments in January, 2007. Planning permission was then finally granted in September 2007 - just as the credit crunch was about to derail the Irish property boom. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4161/is_20100328/ai_n52934237/
