  1. Liverpool take a 3 goal lead then are pegged back to 3-3 before Salah nets a winner. I typically expect them to be defensively sound. Is this the difference a goalkeeper can make? Allison has been out since August 9th.
  2. I use chrome on a windows 10 pc and in the past week or so have seen sporadic issues when trying to embed tweets or youtube videos.
  3. While I think there's a better than even chance he will go in the Summer i'm still not 100% convinced he will be leaving next Summer. He will still be contracted for 3 years at that time so keeping him one more year wouldn't decrease his value since he would still be only 25 in 2021 and still contracted for two years. Many experts consider that to be the age when peak physical powers are achieved. I'm thinking of two possible scenarios the first of which is we win the league to get a shot at CL qualification. Making that group stage could be worth in excess of £40 million which put's 20 million for Morelos in the shade and that chance might be lost if he weren't available for it. Then further presume we reached the groups. Isn't that the ideal stage to potentially bump his value up to double current estimates? And overall if that scenario were to play out might it not in some ways be the best scenario for Morelos himself? A factor Gerrard is smart enough to present to him. That this is a chance for us to give you a taste of what football will be like in the EPL before you make your big move. Ideal preparation young man. You do well for us in this group you will potentially have the higher end and not the Aston Villa's of the league coming in. Second scenario we don't win the league but can still offer a crack at EL football would be a harder sell to him. But there may exist a great desire among the management and board to still persuade him to hang on another year since it would be an all out battle to stop 10iar.
  4. I see no reason we would sell a key player who is contracted till 2023 in January when we might expect to be in a title race. He can Pull a £20 million plus fee just as easily in the Summer window.
  5. There’s little question that like any manager, Steven Gerrard generally has his favourites. Be that right or wrong, the likes of Allan McGregor, James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Ryan Jack, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are among those the manager would prefer to pick above others, and as long as Rangers get good results with them, few can have many complaints. But we can’t help feeling a little sympathy for USA international Matt Polster, who has barely had a sniff of the jersey since joining in January. Indeed, three appearances (one in UELQ, one in the League Cup and one as sub in the split) is all this utility fullback-cum midfielder has to show for his lot at Ibrox, and despite his near-blanket absence from the first team his demeanour has never seemed anything other than positive. His complexion at training always seems constructive, jovial and the 26-year old just gets on with it rather than ever complaining about what he might consider slightly unfair treatment. But, of course, he has a huge problem – first choice for his main slot is Tavernier, the captain – even when he doesn’t play particularly well he still seems to come up with telling crosses, assists or goals (admittedly usually penalties) and that kind of productivity even when slightly off-colour is hard to drop. He is, also, of course, the captain as chosen by Steven Gerrard, and bar the rarity of being rested, is probably the single-most first name on the sheet. But of course, the fallback crutch for Polster, midfield, is also plum with depth. Regardless of who’s in form at any given moment, Polster’s competition there is Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack, Steven Davis, Joe Aribo, Greg Docherty, Andy King and Scott Arfield – so getting his foot in that seven-man door is going to be very difficult indeed. Which leaves Polster rather snookered, truth be told. Steven Gerrard evidently wanted a high-quality player to push Tavernier at RB, and to push the midfielders too – in fairness both of these have lived up to that, give or take the odd lesser display. Polster, clearly, serves his purpose of making others play better. At present we can’t really see him making much of an impression. If he’s barely been selected in a year, what would change now? That said, we didn’t expect Greg Stewart to start last weekend so what do we know? Rangers' 26 y/o may have a massive problem at Ibrox
  6. Almost a yahoo type CL thrashing.
  7. So it definitely wont be this season. Don't see them letting Tavernier go in January with a title on the line at any price. He could just as easily go for the same price 6 months later.
  8. If Shankland plays it might be interesting to see how this Championship goal machine looks against far better quality.
  9. Best view I have seen of the Morelos penalty incident. Clearly took him out.
  10. I think she gets how big a chance this is for him and is enjoying the whole aura around the club but getting a regular start in his main right back position in this team just isn't on the cards with Tavernier ahead of him. His secondary positions in the midfield are also well covered by quality players. Maybe bad timing in that he might have forced his way in a couple of seasons ago but probably not now.
  11. I have taken nothing away from the undeniable talent of Ronaldo and in fact said he might be the best ever. But he is an egomaniac and in my view his egomania could on occasion be detrimental to his team. And Gerrard wasn't depicted as anything like a martyr. Simply someone who had a loyalty to his boyhood club that saw him stay there basically his entire career when he could have moved to rack up more trophies. I don't count the brief US time as a part of his career worth talking about. To me he's a one club man. The closest comparison I can think of was Davie Cooper who could also have played abroad but was a guy you just couldn't get out of Hamilton for any amount of money or glory. Even when Davie did eventually move he went to Motherwell playing out his career just minutes from Hamilton.
  12. Presumably you mean this. His second goal of the game both terrific strikes. https://youtu.be/sx97LGqGap8?t=414
  13. Seems Fernando falls into a 20% bracket containing people who survive between 5 and 10 years after diagnosis.
  14. Definitely wouldn't argue against his status as an all time great maybe even the greatest. But he is indisputably I would say the gold standard of glory hunting and obnoxious egomania in the entire professional era. He is constantly checking off every little box to squeeze every last stat he can out of it. And to top it off he has an ego that knows no bounds nor even a modicum of humility. A major factor in his move to Juventus is a desire to win the CL with 3 different clubs which is currently the record and a desire to win it a 6th time in total which is also a current record. If he managed that this season he would then want to beat those records. This guy is obsessed with this minutiae of all stats to the point of being a character flaw and even detrimental to his team. I remember one instance he declined to take the first penalty in a penalty shootout for either club or country I can't remember which and they went on to lose that shootout. In a situation like that you need your best stepping up and scoring to put pressure on the opposition. He on the other hand just wanted to watch what would happen then step in to take a decisive winning penalty to then circuit the stadium shirt off as if he had just won the game all alone. And he's all that in comparison to our own humble and loyal Stevie G. who could have gone glory hunting on the continent possibly made a lot more money too but gave that up to play for his boyhood team.
  15. I think it was the first time I had totally taken in his size. He's a hulk of a guy with a turn of speed and good distribution ability.
  16. Couldn't resist posting a clip starting at the lead up and Defoe goal. Started in our half and 12 seconds later was dinked into the net by Defoe. A perfect goal to complete the rout which they richly deserved. They were lucky to escape something similar on multiple occasions prior to this.
  17. Regularly listed in world best 11's of the era. Gerrard could have played anywhere in Europe with the elite sides if he were a glory hunter like Ronaldo but stuck out his entire career at Liverpool during a relatively barren period for the team. A time when unlike previous eras the team wasn't littered with players the likes of Dalglish, Souness, Rush etc. That's loyalty in the extreme amid the typical greed of elite players where more often than not nothing matters more than the pounds and it's one reason I love having him as our manager. He's not just seen this craving from a support to win titles he's lived it and I doubt we could have found anyone else of that calibre with a more intimate understanding and motivation to achieve it. I also see in his press conferences qualities i'm glad he has. In general he is amenable to the press and always dignified in his demeanor to the extent that mainstream media and beyond typically regard him as unusually honest for someone in his position. And regarding that honesty when I keep hearing him repeating that he intends to be at Rangers for years to come I believe him. But that cordial demeanour can change ever so subtly but effectively when someone says something objectionable to him. He can close them down in seconds with just a sentence alongside a tiny change in his countenance and they know it's time to move shut up and move on. I envisage him having that kind of commanding character in the dressing room when someone needs a rollicking and how can they even think of arguing with a man who has the vast experience at the very top level he does. We may have lucked out and got they very best man we could in the circumstances during the troubling recent period in the clubs history which is still ongoing in some areas. And of course it can only help the clubs profile and attraction for sponsors that he's a footballing mega star.
  18. I would like to keep him too but I can understand a desire not to spend his career sitting on a bench. I doubt he will be staying at the end of next season.
  19. Hope Wes finds a good move at the end of the season. And all the more reason to get McGregor resigned. Heard Jack has been offered 20K a week to extend his contract.
  20. Anyone starting to think Brenda could take Leicester to a top 4 finish? The usual suspects such as Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea etc don't have their problems to seek and Totenham too seem to be off the pace this term.
  21. I wouldn't take him for Stevie under any circumstances. McInnes can't compare to that kind of top level experience both in terms of playing and who he was managed by. I'm still somewhat puzzled by McInnes turning it down to stay in the limited land of the sheep probably rarely if ever getting to Europa league groups. Is that really the height of his ambition? But it worked in our favour long term so win win for us.
