  1. I was expecting this after seeing the title:
  2. 0-3 Boyd, Miller, Davis
  3. Well someone had to do it while he's on gardening leave. As your post points out, we have good options at the minute and on form. Will be interesting to see what Smith goes with and may well be an indicator for the season ahead. Apart from Lafferty who is injured, the other forwards all have a very good claim for the starting spot this weekend.
  4. From the gospel according to Screebs: Boyd has scored in 10 out of 11 games with Motherwell then? Averaging a goal a game. Gotta give him a start. No 4-5-1 at Fir Park for me. A genuine 4-3-3 I would not mind so much.
  5. It's you and Gav who introduced the bit about whether or not he'd start. All along the argument is he should have been in the squad. I think that's fair enough.
  6. It really is bizarre. Especially when you consider that even if Boyd had remained available for selection the chances of Burley actually using him are very low. Couldn't play even if he wanted to.
  7. Ha ha. Even I wouldn't have misconstrued that one.
  8. I didn't think there was any real doubt last year was his last season. Nor the one before that.
  9. The fact that the Scotland manager isn't picking the best Scots available for our football team. Apparently that's ok though, because we need them. We don't need our best midfielders, though. :fish:
  10. Will he get his first start. At work, wont get to see it.
  11. My mistake. I picked the wrong bunch of bigoted, short-sighted, jumped up, deluded @rseholes.
  12. I think that's far worse than Fraser calling Norris a "XXXXXXXX". Will accept an apology in writing.
  13. Not like them to overstate the quality of one of their players is it.
  14. Craig I can't be bothered getting into most of that. Why talk about Brown/Fletcher? Why are they relevant? The thread is about the squad. Not starting. What it comes down to his Thomson is one of the best midfielders in the country and is fit. Whether Burley didn't pick him for experience, match sharpness or because he doesn't really rate him is irrelevant. What it does show however is that Burely has not got a clue. When the vast majority of your squad are shit you cannot afford not to pick a top quality player.
  15. Much like Alan Hutton though it will be several caps too late. The "experience" excuse or other related ones are a real bugbear of mine. Oh for a Capello type manager who just picks the best available players rather than introudcing frankly irrelevant criteria. Why is age/"experience"/number of previous caps weighted so much more heavily in a manger's mind than current ability to play the game known as football?
  16. Will be mostly tims. The one about Boyd and turncoats is quite frankly the most hilarious utterance from a t.arrier ever.
  17. When's Fraser upcoming appearance on Fighting Talk?
  18. I'm not saying the situations are identical. However, we are struggling for quality players all over the park. So lets not hide behind match fit and game time as Burley has proven time and again he doesn't care about that. He might say one thing, but his actions another. At least Smith, for example, is consistent. You might not agree with his reasoning, but time and again he'll make the same correct decisions as he sees it. As I say we struggle for quality all over the park. And we're not even talking about starting here, just in the squad. Either match fitness is an excuse or it's not. You can't pick and choose when it suits your agenda. Thomson is arguably the best Scottish midfielder about these days. Burley is shooting himself in the foot not picking him. And whilst he falls back on his experience line; the longer he doesn't pick him, the longer Thomson doesn't gain experience and the longer the country does without one of it's best talents. Hartley, Dorrans, Alexander, Rae, Brown, Fletcher. Think that was the central midfield options. Not even Fraser will argue that in terms of quality Thomson should not be in there. And if he's fit enough to start for Rangers he's fit enough to start for Scotland.
  19. How it works when Rangers have been the best team and obviously had the best players starring: :fish: I agree with Gav in that they probably do try to share it about and not just stick with the OF. And of course, sometimes it will be justified. But I also think Craig's right in that this "sharing" is more easily done when Rangers have been the best team or had the best player than when it's Celtic.
  20. Marshall had a great game? Why? He's getting far too much credit for routine saves and having shots struck straight at him. He had a reasonable/good game I guess, but of the shots he saved you would be disappointed if he hadn't and some he would actually have had to move right out of the way for Holland to score. Robben's howler a prime example.
  21. Ex man u star Liam Miller? The one Celtic were shitting bricks about losing on a free?
  22. His two "wonder saves" were struck right at him. He would have had to move out the way of the ball for Robben to score. Was down to striking error more than the keeper. The only keeper to make a truly top quality save was the Dutchman from Miller.
  23. "We need to stick with someone". About your only argument. "Ok, so he's a fucking terrible manager, but we need to stick with someone". How about we get a decent manager and then stick with him?
