I kind of agree. But the goalkeeping position tends to be a little different to other positions. If you've got a keeper playing well that breeds confidence in the defence and it is a bit of a gamble changing keepers. That said, McGregor is the better keeper (marginally) and I expect him back in before long. I do feel bad for Alexander though who has done nothing wrong.
-
He's desperate to go to his boyhood heroes Celtic.
-
It's about more than finding free transfers though. Right age. Right price (wages). Want to come and play here. Have the attributes to play here. Just for starters. Though it does show there are options out there.
-
Not been that many available that i've heard of. Oguchi Onyewu went to AC, but struggling for any others.
-
Would like to think you're right. Either way we need one. I do think however, should Dinamo get the expected result then the positive financial implications of that may make it more likely that we sign someone.
-
So is that a yes or a no then?
-
Craig's not daft, he probably set it up on purpose so he could come on and groan at whoever made the obvious crack. Hope you're right about Boogie.

Any other premiership clubs?

Do teams not share the gate in cup games?
-
No, it was on sky before our game. One point for a goal. To promote attacking football. Should teams be tied on points, goal difference and goals scored then it goes to shots on target too.
-
Just need to beat them tomorrow to match Celtic's trophy haul this year.
-
The teams at the bottom of the SPL could probably do with the extra game for the gate money as chances are they'll ve out sooner.
-
That's kind of my point though. Should a player famed for work rate not work harder than any other forward rather than merely as hard as the rest?
-
That's complete balls. In simple terms: Better for first half hour. PSG had a good spell til half time, with a few crosses flashed by and lob onto roof of net. 2nd half, PSG started slightly better. Created little. Pretty even half overall, we dominated before and after goal. PSG didn't look like scoring all day. Bougherra rattled in a header and even though Makelele got a head on it couldn't keep it out. ___________________________________________________ Edit: regards Miller, didn't consider the impact of instructions from the manager and that may have led to him working less hard when we didn't have possession.

Based on league position at the end of the previous season I think and of course you need a certain amount of team in each round to make the knock out format work. Seems as fair a way of doing it as any other.
-
How so? His work rate is easy to see when we are in possession due to his mobility, he runs the channels and chases lost causes. But then all forwards work hard when the team is in possession as they sniff the opportunity for a chance at goal. However Miller's "workrate" is no more apparent than any other forward when we don't have the ball. Everyone has experienced this playing football. Lazy bastard forwards who only work when they think there's an opportunity to score but don't work when the opposition have the ball. Miller seems to stand around at the spear head of the attack without really closing the defenders playing the ball at the back in much the same way that the "lazy" Boyd does. Or is that not what you found strange?

Sakho (sp). How much would he cost. :fish: Absolute beast at the back for PSG. Only 19, captain at 17. Built like a tank and won a lot of challenges. Couple of rash ones later on through the back, but then I lie an aggressive CB.

With the suggestion that we will go out and maybe by a CB and or LM if Celtic fail to make the CL and hence we take all the CL tv money are those whining about the co-efficient happy to accept Celtic getting beat if it means we strengthen?

Putting the squad through their pre-season paces - a look....

As you say having a six-pack is more about getting body fat down than building abdominal muscles. Most (well all) people have the muscle there, but it's hidden under a layer of fat. Football is not like a weight ccategory sport like many combat sports (e.g. Boxing) where power:weight ratio is important and keeping body fat down confers an advantage. Footballer's would not want or need an excessively low body fat percentage and anything around 10% or so would not be a worry. I'm sure anyone watching the PSG game today will have noticed Boyd fitting his heart rate monitor and he seemed to be carrying no more fat around his stomach than the PSG boy who changed his shirt due to blood. Neither guy had a rippling six pack, nor were they carrying massive amounts of fat around the mid-riff. Some people will be more pre-disposed to have well developed abs and storing fat differently. I think the only time you would truly worry about a footballers body fat is if it was fluctuating a lot over the off-season or they were clearly carrying extra weight. Otherwise it is just monitored to ensure it is at a good level for an elite player. Due to variations in player muscle mass, body fat percentage and other anatomically variations I would not be entirely sure about an exact percentage whereby a 6-pack is clearly visible. However I don't know how important that really is. Guys who do not have a naturally athletic figure like Hutton, like your boyd's and Adam's, might well be more closely watched to ensure nutrition and training programmes compliment each other. -
McGregor is slightly the better keeper, but you don't drop the man in possession of the gloves when he's not made any mistakes.

Yeh just heart rate monitors. Telemetry system (think kind of like infrared or bluetooth) where rather than having to wear a watch the information will be relayed to a unit hooked up to a pc. Will be a real time measure of heart rate with a signal sent to the main unit every second or fraction of a second. I used the same or a similar system doing my undergrad and postgrad project. Can see them on one of the links I posted one the Sports Science thread. Regarding Boyd, yeh he looked about as "fat" as the PSG boy who had to change his shirt for blood. Another one in the eye for the guys who love to slag our players for being fat. Speaking of which I need to reply to Cal's post in that other thread. Back onto the game today. Impressed overall. We dominated first half hour. PSG came on stronger towards the end of the half but aside from a few balls across the goal and the chip onto the roof of the net didn't threaten Alexander. Davis, McCulloch and Mendes all impressed in midfield. Naismith was sharp and direct when he came on. How anyone could prefer Beasley over him I don't know. :fish: Though De Marcus equally looked good when he came on. Miller looked good in the first half hour when we did. Felt he tired a bit and for a guy lauded for his workrate I think he's just as lazy as any other forward when we don't have the ball. Moving onto tomorrow, the comemntator said McGregor will play. Considering Arsenal is the bigger game and tougher test, is that a sign McGregor will be back in as first choice soon, or is it an opportunity to put him in the shop window?

Alexander Whittaker Weir Bougherra Papac McCulloch Novo Davis Mendes Laffery Miller Official site is saying Davis in the centre.

Ps. Rangers on sky. Almost a sense of "back where we belong". Good quality broadcasting and they might even say something positive about us once in a while. Good riddance Setanta. _____________________________________________________________________________ On another note, reading the run-down of PSG on the official site. The new manager was the one who signed Sebo and JCD for Valenciennes!

Replies of "aye, but he slags Rangers too" no allowed. Just enjoy having a wee laugh at the scum. :spl:

Prophetic words? Time to unsticky this if only we have fixtures?
