  1. Not up north atm, but did the papers up there give us any credit. You know if a big EPL star was bigging up the mhanks it would be blanket coverage.
  2. Well it looks like 4-4-2 is our most effective formation, but its unsure whether or not WS fancies that formation. Gk and defence picks itself until Smith gets fit. If we got 4 in the middle who drops out out of Hemdani and Thomson, as the captian will likely start most games. The only other issue seems to be the flanks. Does McCulloch continue at RM while we search for another, who may be Whittaker. If McCulloch is to cover RM, presumably returning to LM when we sort out the right, who plays left. Despite the attributes Beasley should bring that Adam can't; pace and guile, he's yet to impress me. Boyd and JCD to start upfront. Obviously injury, form and tactics may dictate changes, but it looks like the strongest XI is the one that started v Chelsea: McGregor Hutton Weir Cuellar Weir Papac McCulloch Fergie Hemdani Adam Boyd JCD However after Novo's performance, perhaps he will play right and McCulloch will play his more usual LM. I think that is how I would line up on Tuesday. Opinions for the Zeta game?
  3. Cheers, ws being too lazy to have a look back . Agree re; getting a retirn on the investment, Naismith would be a better bet in that instance. And also not impressed with the guys goalscoring record. From the other thread then that's £1.8 mil on Whittaker, £1.5mil on Cousin and <£2mil on a third, hopefully a creative midfielder.
  4. PSG currently 2-0 up on Valencia.
  5. Have heard hes coming to Ibrox tues, £1.5mil, from SSN. What's going on. Thought someohe had said he signed for a Spanish outfit. Rather Naismith anyway.
  6. That's our media for you. When we played Newcastle and the chief of police (or whatever he is called) praised us, our press still printed a negative story.
  7. If you don't like the choice of word, perhaps a bit extreme and ill advises, fine. However I wont get into a debate to deflect away from the real point of the thread.
  8. Perhaps, the last part may well be true. However for the most part your are mising the point of the thread. I am not trying to demonstrate we have a global brand. I'm merely pointing out that they, aided by our media, are lying about their supposed global brand. It doesn't exist. You say they are trying. But to be honest the negatives to their season and also the financial cost, is it substantially offset by the minor financial gains? It doesn't look like it. It's only worth the cost if there are significant gains to be made, but to be honest it doesn't look like the rewards are there. Are we becoming Tims, bothering more about them than ourselves ? No. I talk about my own club far more than any other, however the above line will not stop me discussing a topic I feel is worth mentioning. In summation, the facts demonstrate that Celtic do not have a global brand. Just ex-pats attending foriegn jollies.
  9. Apparently from the Scotsman: http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/sport.cfm?id=1181812007 Posted in the comments section.
  10. I just quoted the whole sentence. However the real point is we got a similar crowd without prostituting ourselves to the US every year. We're not massive over there, the point is, neither therefore are they.
  11. Of course the number of fans can be indicative of how popular they are there. There will be a link between the number of fans who fork out for games and for merchandise. Another nugget from FF: You're right a global brand is worldwide, and one of the places where we are told they are doin best is the US. Well if this is one of there better areas there's no global brand is there? Admittedly they are probably doing well in Japan, but that will end when Nakamura goes. I don't know about previous years, but in 2004 they played Liverpool in front of 17k in a stadium that holds more than 4x that, again according to FF. If Liverpool and Celtic can't attract a proper crowd what does that tell you about the US? Another poster says he was out there when the Mhicks were and saw more of our shirts than theirs, so what's happened now to the merchandising myth? You say it takes more than one trip. Well they've been going since at least 04 then and getting nowhere fast. Not suggesting we're doing any better, but we need to stop lapping up the bs our press prints.
  12. Why are we even taking this seriously? Would be good though wouldn't it.
  13. Didn't say we were. But it's now obvious to suggest they are making any kind of inroads there is laughable. fans were only at the Allstars game for Beckham and the Fire game for the Mexican. From a FF poster: And while i'm at it, isn't Chicago a town with a big Irish ex-pat contingent?
  14. Whittaker. £1.8mil. Striker, possibly still Naimsith And????? So around £4mil for the other two.
  15. WHo was on here trying to say the mhanks were leaving us behind expanding their global brand out in the states:
  16. Please don't be lying about bringing in the 2-3 quality players for £5mil+.
  17. It was ok, but a bit lacking in details
  18. You wouldn't get on well on FF. You don't subscribe to rule 1 that is not scottish always equals better than Scottish, regardless of whether or not you have heard of said player or seen him play.
  19. Cheers mate.
  20. F.a then. Oh well we didn't spend a fee on him. Would've been good to recoup his wages.
  21. Too late, that's ll us (ex) students do. THe footballs been off to long so i'm going to enjoy it.

  23. Is it on tv anywhere?
  24. Anyone got any idea of a fee?
  25. I see what you're drving at but feel the analogy is incorrect. Murray is not Rangers (no chortling) therefore it is not a one sided relationship with the club in the way in which you suggest. To be honest though any kind of "relationshop" with a football club will alwyas be one sided wont it. Doesn't mean we shouldn't expect far better treatment from the current custodian.
