  1. I haven't seen Ajax play so I don't really know what to expect from them. How much better than PSV are they? I expected PSV to be much better than they were.

While I haven't seen Ajax, I've seen Liverpool and Napoli recently and I fear what they will do to us.

  2. I wonder what Gio really thinks about this transfer window. Were we thwarted from getting someone because we refused to pay the money or was he happy that the right player was not available? We'll never know as he is not one to publicly question policy.

Now that the window is closed, we've no option but to go with what we have and make the best of it. There is no point dwelling on what we should have done.

We have a good squad. We have players that will be developed and contribute more. We have players to come back from injury. And if that is not enough, we have the continuing Morelos/Kent contract extension saga to occupy our minds.

On to the next game. As someone once said "Let's go".

  3. It is often said that referees balance out decisions within games. When they have made a mistake or been somewhat harsh, it's balanced out later in the game.

This is a common view among fans but any ex referee I have ever heard denies this happens. Maybe it's not a conscious "I need to make amends later" but when an  incident occurs just possibly their judgement is affected.

Recent events may even suggest that it goes beyond referees correcting their own mistakes and there is a wider network correction going on. Was Sands' getting off with a red card the balance against Lundstram's (rescinded) red card? Let's hope so. Cause if Lundstram's was simply a difference in interpretation and therefore no corrective action is deemed necessary but Sands was an error, there may be some balancing out going on next weekend.

Whinging Joey Veerman slammed for Rangers 'surrender' as Wesley Sneijder launches astonishing attack on PSV flop

PSV Eindhoven star Joey Veerman was accused of surrendering by Dutch icon Wesley Sneijder after the former Rangers target insisted the Ibrox side did not deserve to reach the Champions League. Veerman was angry after Rangers defeated PSV 1-0 in the Netherlands to clinch a famous victory and claim a massive financial windfall in Europe's premier competition.

But instead of being magnanimous in defeat, Veerman lashed out in a television interview after the game. He moaned: "I don't think it's fair that Rangers play Champions League and we don't. I don't think they created a single chance here.

"What did we do wrong? We missed two great chances before half time. We had to score them. And I would have preferred to play as a 'No.8' instead of a 'No.10', but I tried my best."

But that brought a stinging rebuke from the former Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Ajax star who was capped 134 times by the Netherlands and is now a TV pundit. He said: "That was a remarkable interview. It's everyone else's fault apparently.

"But from the very first minute in the game, I watched him surrender. In every aspect. What did he do? Play passes backward, but anyone can do that. He didn't protect the defence and then has the nerve to criticise the chances they missed.

"Last week, he was quite clear that PSV were better than Rangers. I expected him to roll up his sleeves and prove that. But he did nothing. If I was his manager, I would be very unhappy with him. Let's be clear here, Rangers won every battle and deserved to go through."

I noticed in the first half he had a couple of lobs over our defence for someone to run on to.  I don't know if that's one of his signature moves but in the second half Tavernier did the same thing, (I think it was after we had scored) as if to say "Joey, watch a master"

That clip of Gio & Coaching team says it all for me. Lets not forget that PSV got a bit of a sore tactical lesson from us tonight. From the minute we scored RVN looked at a loss to turn the game. He appeared to take the "headless chicken" approach by throwing on a load of subs none of whom made much impact. We really did control the final stages of the game. Apart from a couple of sloppy passes from Wright and Kent, they barely laid a glove. Total flat response from their fans as well.

Well done to Gio & staff. A EL final and CL group stage  qualification in just over 3 months is MASSIVE. Many Congratulations Rangers!:rfcbouncy:

I agree. PSV did seem at a loss. The commentator made the point that unlike their previous game with Monaco, the seemed to have accepted their fate. However, having said that, when Colak was substituted the pessimist in me was screaming "if they score in the dying seconds, we've no centre forward for extra time"

  6. Morelos form/attitude/weight has fluctuated wildly during his time with us. When it all comes together, there is nobody better.

Whether he has now reached the end or whether this is the jolt he needs, we'll know soon. I'll be sad to see him go as over his time with us he's been great to watch.

Toast in soup? That would be like one big crouton. I like crackers in my soup thanks to many trips to the USA.

Crouton?  Sometimes I think I'm too working class for this forum.

The big mystery what happened to this young man he was once valued at £40million plus when he was at Spurs

I agree. At one time he was the great hope for England. I remember Warburton saying that he was the player he would most like to manage.

Whether he was not as good as people said he was or whether the expectations proved too much for him, who knows.
