Whittaker is a useful player to have as he's versatile, creative and experienced. He's not worth £20K per week though and I'll be stunned if we've offered him anywhere near that.
-
I've thought about that and I don't think so. I just think he'd be to provide Papac with some (more natural) competition for the coming season as well as cover for centre half and midfield. Generally, I'd be surprised if Wallace was seen as anything other than our left back for when Papac finishes his current contract. That's fair enough but I don't we need to sign him now unless we get him for next to nothing. In the mean-time we have a dearth of quality centre-backs which is becoming more worrying by the day.

Cuellar for me by a mile. I don't understand why we're even in the market for Wallace at the moment as we don't need him as it stands. Just wait and get him on a free next summer.

Dundee Utd release a strange statement about Goodwillie
Frankie replied to Danny's topic in Rangers Chat
Latest Goodwillie assault charge deferred until next month. This concerns alleged incident of November 2010 in Glasgow. -
No chance did we win it in spite of Weir. Sure he had the odd bad contribution but generally he strolled through games and was certainly as able as any other defender in the team. Nevertheless I want us to have a new pairing next season (Cuellar and Bartley would make me giggle like a schoolgirl) but until we sort out new signings then the retention of Weir is a no-brainer. Sometimes we do sit a bit too deep to accommodate Weir's lack of pace but as we've proven many times (not least in the final 5 or 6 games) that isn't necessary as long as the rest of the team (and particularly the midfield) is functioning properly.

I was pleasantly surprised with how sharp and mobile Healy looked last season after he signed so I'm quite happy about this. However, we really now need to move Beattie on as we can ill-afford the two of them IMO.
-
I'm comfortable enough with him re-signing. He had another decent year last season and other than a couple of bad games he was consistently of an acceptable quality at the back. As always, I would like to think we'll be bedding in a new defender or two over the new season so while Weir may not (or should not) be a first pick, it is a no-brainer to retain his influence around the team - whether he plays regularly or not. Make no mistake, Weir's contribution since he signed 4.5 years ago should never be under-estimated.

Dundee Utd release a strange statement about Goodwillie

I honestly don't know how we can consider bidding for a guy who has two different assault charges over him. Obviously we presume innocence but it's certainly a big gamble. -

In other words: 'Please make another offer Rangers. Pleeeeeaaassseee!' -
Obviously they share responsibility: the manager is often dictated to by the money available. More cash is never a guarantee of more quality though.

Why not forget about Cuellar and buy Bartley instead?
Frankie replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Problem is, can we rely on players running own their contracts not to effectively down tools? Whittaker seems a reliable sort but I'd fancy Bougherra may suddenly have passport problems once more. -
Good man - looking forward to any updates. If possible, can you get him to clarify who is paying for the catering stuff. Is it Elior (as he said previously) or the club (as they seemed to indicate the other week)? Some news on the large screen tender would be great as well. Many thanks!

We need to bring players in before we sell. Of course the extra money would be nice but surely we can buy before moving guys like Edu on?

Over the next 60-90 days I'd imagine the government will now seek to publish a consultation paper taking into account all the various submissions they've received. It will be interesting to see who else they call to give evidence to any future committee meetings on this basis.

Nothing of real substance mate. Information is conflicting - on one hand we have all the positive stuff from Whyte in the media but on the other we have people with solid contacts saying Whyte still hasn't secured investment required to pay fees for players so in essence, we'll be restricted to Bosman/loan deals unless we sell players. Us proles are thus stuck somewhere in the middle as what to believe.
-
We played 4-4-2 comfortably enough with Weir in the team so I'm happy to sign him up for another season - preferably as back-up/coaching though.
-
I'm comfortable enough at the moment. Conway, Hemed and Danns won't have been first choice targets IMO - more probably seen as potential free signings on the cheap with reasonable wages. Unfortunately, they can get better wages elsewhere so we lose out. C'est la vie. Where I do have a problem is with the Cuellar and Goodwillie links. I don't think Cuellar will be possible financially and I also think Goodwillie is 'legally' very risky indeed. Moreover, while I'd take Bartley and/or Wilson and/or Weiss back in a heartbeat, these deals will probably last minute if they happen at all. Thus, with 4 weeks to go until the new season starts, the clock is ticking. I'm pretty certain we'll have more targets, so McCoist and Smith just need to establish what is possible before then - in tandem with what could be possible as the window closes in August.

Just noticed I'll maybe miss first Old Firm game as I'll be down in Newcastle for the Great North Run the next day...

It's all good. £42 for a Celtic ticket though...

Not a surprising idea but rather unfair to cause problems for the huge majority just because a few people are arrested on such days. Will pubs be closed as well? What about night-clubs and/or music concerts?
-
Riordan, Goodwillie and Wallace would be the dream chav trilogy... I'm hoping the 'public' targets are not the real ones but the lack of progress on incoming players (and new contracts) is rather disappointing. However, in the modern era, players and agents hold all the aces when it comes to such negotiations so it is in their interest to delay as long as possible. Similarly, because of the EPL 25 man rule, some of the best bargains (primarily loan deals) won't be known until late August. Problem is, can we really afford to wait until then before supplementing our squad. I'd strongly say no.

Perhaps a template issue as that space is reserved for ads (which we don't use). I'll try and have another look this week mate.

He'll see it as constructive dismissal.
