I think the reason I wish PLG had been given more of an opportunity is because he symbolises the kind of changes I'd like to see at the club - even if his tenure was flawed in itself. As such, while I may not wish to go back to him, I would like to see changes in our managerial approach to embody a more continental strategy.
-
Fair point mate... Just not Craig Levein though, eh?
-
Hindsight tells me I would liked to have persevered with PLG for a while longer even if the results were awful at the time. Difficult question to answer without knowing the full facts of the PLG/Ferguson affair though.

Agree with that Ian.

Thanks for that - I should have checked Pete's usually fine research...

It's easy to blame individuals - and I certainly do at games - but the buck rests with us as a team. Only the defence can really say they've performed well enough this season. The midfield and attack have both been far too inconsistent. However, to attain improvement, we have to go after the weakest links. Ferguson may or may not be our worst midfielder but the financial factor means he's most likely to go.

A wistful look at the the current decade as Pete examines the fall from grace of our club... http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/newsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=776&Itemid=2

If we get a decent offer for Ferguson we should let him go. He had a good game at the weekend but these are now few and far between. Add in any potential fee and the loss of his large wage then it may be time for us to find a new captain.
-
Yeah, heard Lovenkrands has signed again... Also heard Michael Ball may be returning on a free as well. Doubt that given the wage he'll be on at City though.

No thanks...

Dreadful marking at both goals...
-
I thought he did reasonably well in the air in the the first half but his overall play (such as controlling of the ball, attempted passing and work-rate) were abysmal... Not sure what the issue is but he certainly doesn't look like he wants to play for Rangers right now.

And once again, as with Naismith last year, our medical staff allowed him to continue playing after the initial injury.

Yeah, 26th of Foot had mentioned this the other day... A dangerous piece of work and no mistake.

I really don't know if I will or not... I'd see the point if we were getting something back but we're not. Today's was one of those days and if it were early in the season we'd all be a bit more pragmatic about it. But it wasn't and all too often we stumble from one bad result to the next while our manager moans about criticism, our captain appears to take the mickey during his goal celebration and our chairman hides away semi-retired in France. Hardly a case of the customer being right is it...?

We don't have the mental character to win anything never mind a league title. Still in shock tonight after an excellent first half full of passion, industry and commitment. How these qualities can disappear after only 15 mins of the second half is beyond my comprehension?

Rangers V Heart Of Midlothian ââ?¬â?? Match Report & Players Ratings
Frankie replied to CammyF's topic in Rangers Chat
Thought McGregor did very well with two superb saves and had no chance at the goals. I thought Dailly actually had a decent game but would like to see the Hearts goals again before deciding who was to blame. Papac, Davis, Mendes and Boyd were all woeful. Naismith and Novo were poor when they came on and, as usual, our team gave up the ghost as soon as Hearts showed a semblance of spirit. We just can't cope with our confidence being knocked. Fragile of mind and body. -
Might have been Jon - can't remember myself. They seem to contradict each other in the press so that may lend weight to a more feisty relationship than I may have alluded to...
-
We can only hope McCoist is doing the above... Then I'd respect him more than simply being another member of a management team that appears devoid of ideas to bring back the SPL title. But without inside info I guess I'm being rather harsh...
-
So what is McCoist saying about it? If it were me I'd be chapping the manager's door and demanding answers. If my decisions weren't to be trusted or acknowledged then I'd be considering resignation.

Bottling the UEFA Cup Final ââ?¬â?? Fact or Fiction?

Aye, that is one thing that annoys the hell out of me at games... Always takes us about 10mins to make the sub even after deciding we're doing it....- 14 replies

Rangers must axe Barry Ferguson before they blow chance of winning title
Frankie replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The worst thing is that with every game the lad plays in the team, it is further chance for any interested parties (if they even exist) to see just how ineffective he has become. Viola should be offering him to Arabian/North American sides where he can semi-retire without taking circa £25K per week from us. -
Yep, the teamsheet tomorrow will certainly give an indication of Smith's stubbornness. However, I must question your defence of McCoist mate. While I agree it's unlikely he'd do any worse, he is the one supposedly in charge of cup games, yet he made some poor decisions last week. Even if he wasn't in charge last Sunday, in that game (and others) he is just as responsible as Smith regarding tactics and personnel.

Herald: Former Conservative Leader Sees Through Sectarianism Sham

Mate, the lack of coverage of McLetchie's comments in other parts of the media is a disgrace. But it certainly validates our concerns about the usual suspects and their intentions of course. -
