The pace, balance, self-confidence and a consistent ability to find the net might be reasonable recommendations. Other probably know more than me.

It's not that they're the first or only ones, or that there haven't been some in the past who might have favoured Rangers, but in my assessment Clancy and Collum are cheats who have deliberately disadvantaged Rangers. It's the easiest thing in the world to do, given the first two alternative conclusions most people reach is that it's either just incompetence or the usual biased bellyaching from bluenoses. While some refs have been hounded out of the job, I'm not aware of any that have been removed for deliberately cheating. To do so would bring into the question the entire basis of the game in Scotland, so everything has be be continually swept under the SFA's carpet. In this climate of corruption and denial I see absolutely no hope that VAR will be anything other than a tool to maintain the status quo and protect refereeing incompetence. Of course in time-honoured fashion, anyone who suggests this will be dismissed and ridiculed as a sore loser. To get fair refereeing you first have to control the SFA.

Some more than others obviously but no one is ever fully ready until they're given a chance

We have to change to a partnership of Roofe plus another up front. We don’t have a straight replacement for Alfie and no one else can do what he does as a solo striker.

My bet is that VAR will be misused to corroborate bias. -
You're simply stating the obvious. What do you want to do about it that's practically possible and isn't simply expressing regret?
-
You achieve the result first, then you've earned the right to take the piss. Otherwise you can look very stupid.

It doesn't take much realism to understand we are a considerable distance away from financial comfort. This is a journey still only half travelled. It's now more than 20 years since it became obvious to everyone the financial model was unsustainable and spending had to be curtailed. Ten years ago we suffered complete financial meltdown and spent the next 5 or 6 years in various degrees of chaos until Gerrard arrived and things finally started moving forward. Since then much of the club's organisation and infrastructure has started to be rebuilt but no one should be under the illusion that the job is anywhere near finished. Recent financial statements confirm this. The road ahead is bound to have bumps and setbacks but I'm hopeful that 3 years from now we will be in a much healthier state.

You're never going to avoid that sort of thing in football, where intentions and delivery are often hard to match. Besides, no one has said the individuals running Rangers are perfect but individual flaws and mistakes don't necessarily trump undoubted achievements.
-
One lesson I learned from the wilderness years was the club comes far ahead of trophies. I do not want to see profligate spending if it puts the club in jeopardy. No more gambling. What we spend, we first have to earn.

The board do appear to have made mistakes this season and I'm sure they will be honest enough to recognise this. In that respect they're probably no different to others running big football clubs. But like you I feel they still have considerable credit in the bank. Given our circumstances a few years ago, they (and we) can be proud of the job done. If there's an aberration, it was last season, not this season. The recovery and rebuilding has quite a long way still to travel. Stick with it. This is a time to rally round, not to lose faith and run away.

VAR wasn't introduced yesterday in England, yet recent weeks have shown plenty of instances where further scrutiny reveals a consensus that VAR achieved the wrong critical decisions. The assumption in England is that these mistakes are unintentional and unfortunate, nothing more, but in Scotland you will add to the equation the same underlying and persistent cheating that characterised the work of the Compliance Officer - a series of incumbents carefully chosen for their predisposition towards Celtic. It will inevitably be the same with VAR and any thought this won't be the case should quickly be consigned to the bin of naivety. VAR isn't a panacea, it's simply a tool that can be used wisely and fairly .... or not. In Scotland it will be used to corroborate the will of authorities we already know we can't trust. In the past we've had cause to call for foreign referees in OF games and you can apply the same to VAR but that will never happen. We live in a social cesspit where government, church and media conspire in only one direction - and it's against that backcloth that everything has to be viewed. -

That would be good ..... but it's simply NOT going to happen. -

As long as VAR is operated by the SFA, which it will be, all it will do is corroborate and vindicate the same bad decisions we suffer from at the moment. To that extent it may even make things worse. -

I don't know if capitulated is the right word, since it implies an element of intent, but it's absolutely true that we're losing our title to a very average Celtic side. I really don't know why but ever since Gerrard left in such a rush I've wondered about deeper issues at Ibrox. Even if you set aside the Dave King/Club1872 stuff, there's a distinct smell of instability about the club. -
I looked at the Old Firm arch in disappointment. It's clear there are people running our club who simply lack judgement. Whichever way you look at it and whatever motivation you think was behind it, this was an act of absolute stupidity.

Except his first 2 trophyless seasons when the team chucked it big time ... and the first half of this season when we couldn't come close to the achievements of last.

I would like to have seen McLaughlin get more game time for a while now but there is no way any Rangers fan should be making a scapegoat of Allan McGregor. -
There's a lot of debate about whether GvB is a suitable replacement for SG. Tbh I'm not sure what that even means because, except for one league title, Gerrard achieved so little at Rangers and the disappointments during his tenure were routine. I really liked Gerrard but let's not kid ourselves that we filled the trophy cupboard when he was here. Gio has a completely different personality and it may not be to everyone's liking but I find it hard to judge him as a Rangers manager at this stage. The team on the park is clearly struggling to find its best form but that was also true for Gerrard's first 2 seasons and the first half of this season too. I think the truth is we need a better manager than Gerrard and it will take another season at least before we know if Gio is that man. Mistakes have been made at all levels of the club this season but there are no magic wands and we only have our own renewed efforts to fall back on.
-
I understand entirely and really I can't argue with a word you say .... but the one thing we always have to find a way to face is the future and that can't always be painted black or there would be no point going on.
-
Cammy, you always seem to lose composure after a setback. It’s like you’re determined to make the suffering as bad as it can possibly be. Gio is the manager and will be the manager next season too. The board isn’t going anywhere either. I don’t have to think they’re all world beaters but I’d be a poor supporter if I couldn’t raise some optimism about the future.
