The lack of sound judgement from our board of directors is threatening to become Sturgeonesque. Even worse in this case is their complete lack of responsiveness to overwhelming supporter opinion that this game in Sydney should not take place.

I don't know of any supporter whose first wish for an underperforming player isn't that they should perform better and make a greater contribution. I think supporters always start out wanting every player to be a star but that seldom happens and we merely react positively or otherwise to what they offer in return for our support. Wanting rid of someone is surely always a last resort and usually reserved at the bottom of anyone's wish list for players who repeatedly demonstrate lack of commitment. I've really no idea what overreacting means in this context. Presumably one man's overreaction is another man's fair comment, with or without sarcasm.

Rather than "giving up on", is that the same as saying we react to what we see on the park?

I just don't buy this stuff about not judging a manager until and unless he's brought in his own signings. That's just a cop out, an excuse. What matters is what a manager does with the players he has at any given time.

I don't think we give up on players at all. We merely react to what they do on the field of play.

He is a bit like dragging a sea anchor at times.

Connor Goldson for me. I thought it was his most composed showing for a while.

Anything but that purple/lilac/violet monstrosity

But our rival doesn't have to be a world beater and it's unhelpful to hide our failings behind the stupidity of their supporters. At the moment the only reason we have to even think about them as a rival is their ability to beat mid table teams that we're drawing against - Aberdeen, Ross County, Dundee Utd, Motherwell. We're certainly not dropping these points due to the excellence of these opponents and , as far as I can see, the simple truth is that if we keep on fielding the same players and employing the same tactics then the last two months of grindingly poor football are more likely to continue than to improve. As always, supporters have no say in team selection, so we only have two choices - hope for the best with optimism or hope for the best with pessimism. Neither is right or wrong, all you can do is describe what you're seeing and take your lead from that.

I will agree that the current squad is essentially the same one that ran away with the title last season and hardly conceded a goal. I'll also agree there isn't a manager born who doesn't have players he needs to replace. But most of all I'll agree that this team is underperforming its potential week after week and not only are we not finding solutions but by and large we're not ever trying to find one. Everyone wants GvB to succeed but that probably involves him doing something to demonstrate success.

No, there would be no gain from doing that. But I'd certainly be considering alternatives at the end of the season if things continue as they are. Would you advocate persevering with him if we fail to win the league?

I don't understand this stuff about the jury still being out on GvB. Is no one watching our games any more? Because it's all there to see every time we take the field. For me, it's one thing trying something out and assessing the value of it but when you keep on doing something that is repeatedly failing then that's rings a huge warning bell. Who here would have left Helander and Balogun on the bench in order to play our best left back in central defence? Or persisted with a keeper who won't command his area and whose distribution is awful? How many times do you have to see these decisions before the jury comes back in. Why would you allow someone to bring in his own players unless you trust his decision making. I hope to hell I'm wrong but from what I've seen I just don't think GvB is the man to drive us forward to the CL treasure we so badly need and we will pay a heavy price for his intransigence.

I don't know why we bother with corners at all. We never look like getting anything from them and for the majority we never even challenged for ball. Just for a change I'd like to see us hoofing corner kicks in the opposite direction, into the stands. It would be far less disappointing. -

Not forgetting Borna Barisic, that master of the touchline "receive-stop-turn-backpass" routine. I'm all for retaining possession but there comes a point where at least some effort needs to be expended in the general direction of the opponent's goal.
