  1. Genius from Gio. Lull them into a false sense of security with 80 minutes of frustrating crap and then surprise everyone by making sensible substitutions and taking the points. I don't expect every game to be easy but this struggle was guaranteed as soon as he made that ridiculous starting team selection.
  2. I'm going to be controversial and say it's Beaton.
  3. 'Better' might be more accurate
  4. I gave up when I saw the team selection. Pathetic from our manager. We're not winning the title if this is what GvB thinks is what it takes. So very disappointed
  5. You might be right but it's not the supporters' doing and the solution is obvious.
  6. He might think that but it wouldn't be much of a manager who effectively throws in the towel without at least trying other things. We don't need an expensive management team to continue doing things that generally fail. You and I could take week-about to do that ourselves. Besides, that would be a tough call when he's got essentially the squad that ran away with the league last season, so there's really no credible argument that he doesn't have the players.
  7. If the team he's picking on a routine basis is dropping points like this then it really doesn't matter who he does or doesn't fancy because he's obligated to find a solution that works.
  8. I'd make 2 changes. We definitely need a goalie who's more willing to dominate his six yard box in the air and I feel Joe Aribo has been needing a rest since he returned from whatever they were doing in Africa. The defence picks itself and I agree the midfield pairing of Jack and Lundstram is essential, with Kamara dropping out. ------------McLaughlin---------- Tav--Goldson--Balogun--Bassey ---------Jack--Lundstram------ Sakala-------Ramsey--------Kent -------------Morelos------------
  9. To be honest this was possibly the easiest decision in ages. Bassey and Balogun showed some endeavour but to little real effect. Lundstram worked hard but was way off his game. Aribo and Arfield were anonymous. Kamara had a good first 5 minutes then reverted to his primary role as a vortex that sucks all energy and tempo out of the team. Kent and Tav tried but couldn't create. Only Alfie bore any real resemblance to a footballer in a Rangers shirt.
  10. This development of begging for players' shirts is distasteful but that doesn't seem to deter anyone ... so the club does need to take this action.
  11. I'm beginning to think we have a manager who talks about what we must do better and then picks the same players and adopts the same tactics as before ... and players who talk about what they need to do better but then go out and do the same again. You can hear it in their voices - they perform to the press better than they're performing with the ball.
  12. Seems to me we can debate it until the cows come home. Some of us will be right, some will be wrong but what is undeniable is that our coaching staff are struggling to get anything like the best out of our squad. Whatever anyone thinks of the recent transfer window, the players we have now are the only ones available and it is absolutely the manager's job to deliver the best possible results they are capable of achieving. We can't improve things by changing the squad, our only options with respect to players is to change the team selection. So the only questions worth asking are these ..... are these players achieving to their potential and is the manager doing all that could be done to maximise results on the park in terms of preparation, motivation, tactics and selection? And if not, why not and what can be done about it?
  13. I’ve only recently sung his praises but I believe James Bisgrove should now take his undoubted talents elsewhere.
  14. That's exactly what should happen
  15. Rangers 3 Aberdeen 0 FGS - Morelos
  16. Our defence is shaky and our attack isn't sufficiently clinical. We can all see that but I continue to believe our problems all stem from a midfield that only rarely seems to function and depends far too much on having Jack in harness, which is strange when you consider what we achieved without him last season but undeniable from what we've seen in recent weeks. Too often we offer inadequate protection to our defence, denying them time and forcing them to abandon formation to do what defensive midfielders should be doing. But more importantly, the inability to combine secure possession with fast transition is effectively putting our forward players in the pockets of very ordinary defenders. The slightest pressure on the ball and our midfield is neutralised. Kamara hasn't had a decent game in months and will never make a sitting midfielder if he lives to be a hundred - last night only highlighted by comparison how Jack allows Lundstram to be effective and why that combination has been an essential part of our best recent performances. At times you would have thought we were playing head tennis in midfield or playing with a hand grenade - no one wanted possession of the ball and when they got it there was absolute panic to get rid of it. Our defence is denied secure passes forward and our forwards are having to receive passes when so tightly marked that the only option is to be barged in the back or a speculative flick round the defender. I don't think I've ever seen a game when we gave away possession so easily or so frequently. With these team selections I'm afraid the league is already lost and all eyes are on a manager who may well be crushed by the pressure that's coming towards him. His intransigence will be his downfall.
  17. I hope I'm wrong but I'm beginning to feel an old familiar foreboding about a manager who insists on repeating the same mistakes and shows no inclination to change, as if dogged intransigence will eventually fix everything. It's a rare event when Aberdeen come to Ibrox and win but at this rate they just could.
  18. Yup, seen this movie too many times
  19. Too many passes under hit, over hit, or misdirected. Too much dithering, hesitation and being caught in possession. Confusion reigns. GvB needs to respond now, not after they score.
  20. This midfield just doesn’t work. We already know that, there’s no need for further confirmation, so why do we keep coming back to it.
  21. Such a poor performance so far. Midfield back to its chaotic worst. No controlled possession, slow and ponderous. We’re not winning this without changes
  22. I had a lot of time for Bisgrove but it's clear he has no idea how badly this is going to go .... or why. All in all he'd be better resigning now, rather than make a drawn out exit. Any commercial director who thinks he can piss on the fans has no place at Rangers.
  23. Disgusted if it happens but it's hard to believe Rangers would do this.
