Calvin Bassey for me. left back is definitely his position and I can understand why he didn't revert to his standby role in central defence. What I don't understand is why we compromised our midfield by using Lundstram beside Goldson ... something Helander and Balogun must also be wondering. I just hope we now go back to a Jack/Lundstram partnership and return Kamara to the bench because he definitely isn't bringing the answers we need. This was one experiment that doesn't need repeating.

I agree he's done little so far but, like every other player, why don't we judge Ramsey's contribution at the end of the season, rather than before he's kicked a ball in anger? -

If we ever need a midfielder to slow the game down or pass the ball backwards then Glen Kamara will be the first name on the team sheet. -

Speechless. Enough clear chances to win six games but defence totally exposed when it mattered. Big opportunity missed. -

Very professional performance so far. Good attitudes pretty much throughout the team. Is there anything John Lundstram can't do? I'd quite like to see Sands on for Kamara, who still seems to lack belief. -
Are you suggesting that because Iran & KSA haven’t been sanctioned we shouldn’t sanction Russia? If we don’t do everything we shouldn’t do anything?

I fail to see what the starry-eyed fuss is about over someone who has had perhaps two dozen good games for Rangers since he arrived in 2018. The fact he's been so easily eclipsed by Calvin Bassey should tell you all you need to know about Borna's abilities and attitude. He doesn't have anything like the mental toughness to play for Rangers on a consistent basis and has now joined the list of players beaten by the challenge. It's a contrivance to think we would be worse off if he moved on - I can't imagine it would be difficult to replace him. Harsh perhaps but clearly true.

It's a confidence thing with Barisic, I think he's been completely spooked by Bassey. We've seen it before. If we ever have a desperate need for a fullback who only passes backwards then he'll be the first man we turn to.

I thought the decision to bring on Kamara when he did was a good move by GvB. What I didn't expect was Kamara being half a yard slow in everything he did. It can be hard to come on and pick up the pace of the game but it seems to me there something not quite right with Kamara and it's been like that off and on all season. Hopefully the coaching staff can bring him back to the level of performance we expect from one of our best players. -

Well said. The wounds heal a little more with nights like that. Especially when our rivals are getting humped by a fishing collective in Norway. -
Europa League Last 16 Draw: RANGERS vs Red Star Belgrade

OK, 1990. It was while ago. -
He easily could have but it was always going to be Tavernier. Rather than his individual performance, what I saw was Lundstrum's partnership with Jack and the sheer workload they got through covering spaces. It's not just what they do with the ball that wins games and our defensive midfield is like night and day compared with the final days under Gerrard.

Europa League Last 16 Draw: RANGERS vs Red Star Belgrade
Bill replied to ranger_syntax's topic in Rangers Chat
I remember the league cup final in October 1991 when the Celtic fans were all holding up red stars to taunt us for being dumped out of Europe a few days earlier by Red Star Belgrade. It would be good to get revenge for that. -
Once again our new midfield partnership got through an absolute storm of work and that was no small contribution from McGregor either. In fact it would be a lot quicker to note who didn't shine last night but the standouts were surely Balogun, Bassey, Kent, Morelos and Tavernier. It would be wrong to opt for anyone but the captain as MOTM on this occasion. That was real leadership last night. And what a night it was.

Whatever you think of it, with VAR we win that game today. Officials are costing us points and that's not in their job description. Is it? -
