  1. I've watched Sakala's goal several times and it gets more skilful every time - and what was with has stolen celebration? 😁 The best bit about Kamara's goal was the pass from Morelos that left the Hearts defence wondering what day of the week it was.
  2. Yes, sentimentality often obscures reality among football supporters. Bassey has undeniably good qualities but he needs to be sat down and reminded that his development as a player has some distance to go and he needs to knuckle down if he's to realise his potential. With determination and support, he could yet be a much better player.
  3. Calvin Bassey was a f*cking liability who singlehandedly could have cost us the game. His significant positive contribution counts for nothing if he's going to make suicidal errors of judgement like that. He seriously needs to wake up and focus on his positioning. If he does he can have a bright future at Ibrox.
  4. I thought there four outstanding performers against Hearts - Jack and Lundstram showed both composure and bite in midfield, Kent had his best game for ages and Morelos was sublime as both a striker and at holding up and linking with others - possibly his best-ever performance since coming to Rangers. Arfield wasn't far behind either. In the end, there's no way I could vote for anyone other than Alfredo Morelos, the complete player.
  5. I thought about all those Dutchmen in the dugout wondering why 50,000 Rangers fans were singing the name of the Hearts substitute 😂
  6. I've just watched the last 20 minutes of ET in the AFCON cup final. If the rest of the tournament was anything like this then I'm glad it's the only game I saw. Garbage.
  7. You don't like to see Jack sitting out the game with an icepack on
  8. I thought they were both excellent. You could see so clearly what we've been missing. Jack oozes composure and drive. I thought Alfie was sensational. The surprise for me was just how well Jack and Lundstram paired up. Some game by Ryan Kent too.
  9. Terrific win today fro Rangers WFC today. Top of the league, game in hand.
  10. I think we can beat Hearts but I’m not sure about Hearts AND the referee
  11. . ……
  12. Huge improvement. We could easily be three up. Still too hesitant at the back but much much better transition
  13. Oops Heavy emphasis on midfield on the bench - which is probably telling us something.
  14. Diallo not listed so I guess there's a fitness issue there. Otherwise it's definitely an improvement on recent weeks with a more solid midfield supporting a better back line. At last GvB seems to be accepting that the first prerequisite of winning is not losing. He's also got options where to bring on Ramsey for, depending on the score situation. Is that a 4-1-4-1 or 4-2-3-1?
  15. We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. The mission right now is just to stay in the fight and hope their momentum lapses, as it surely will at some point. Right now they're feeding off our stumbles - we need to stop that, starting today. Personally, I hope for the best but expect slightly less than that. As I said earlier, if we don't see the right reaction within the first ten minutes then I think we'll have pretty clear indication of where this season is going.
  16. Barisic is decidedly average as an attacking fullback. He can cross a ball when he makes an effort but when was the last time you saw him take on a defender, hit the line and pick out another blue shirt?
  17. On the other hand, we know what Kent is about and he'd certainly be on the bench and available. Diallo on the other hand might be a real asset but we'll never know unless we play him and last Wednesday was the last place to judge a new young player. If you look at it dispassionately, on the basis of Wednesday's performances you would be hard pressed to tell which was the seasoned pro and who was the newbie finding his feet at a new club.
  18. I think we'll know within the first ten minutes or so against Hearts whether we are going to challenge for the title this season. The answer will be seen in the tempo of our play. If is isn't hugely improved from Wednesday we will know that the players and coaching staff haven't been able to react in the required fashion and that in all likelihood we face more points dropped in the weeks ahead and Celtic running away with the league. Any time we've been able to reflect our individual quality in a high tempo performance, we've run over the top of our opposition. Whenever we've reverted to the slow, hesitant football we've seen so often in the past, we struggle. One of my erstwhile favourite players, Glen Kamara, has become so prone to slowing play and inhibiting transition from defence to attack that he sucks the tempo out of most games he plays in. That can't go on and I believe is the reason he was hooked at half time in midweek. If he plays against Hearts then he needs to have a very different attitude. Barisic is so notorious at slowing play that he's a luxury we can no longer afford, end of. I think their omission would help in moving the ball more quickly and give our forward players more of an opportunity to find space. Hearts should be stern opposition and an excellent yardstick by which to measure our intent as a team. I'd like to see something like this, with six positional or selection changes from the starting line up against Celtic. McLaughlin Tavernier-Goldson-Balogun-Bassey Ramsey-Jack-Aribo Diallo-Morelos-Sakala We'll likely start this game 4 points adrift. We simply can't let that margin continue into the next game.
  19. 👍
  20. Perhaps we should just confine our judgement of MOTM to what our eyes can see and not get too involved in "what might have been if only it had actually happened"
