  1. I think we need to bear in mind that our investors and board of directors are ambitious people too and I doubt they will need any reminding of what is at stake this season.
  2. I know what you mean but he doesn't just need to be better than Wright, or anyone else for that matter. If there's any point to this transfer then he needs to be good enough for Rangers.
  3. It's hard to understand why Kamara has gone off the boil. He still shows his talent in phases but his concentration lapses too often for a fully established first team player. This started well before GVB arrived so it's not the change of manager. Perhaps he's too comfortable, needs competition.
  4. I thought Lowry again looked good in spells but his influence on the game was actually quite limited compared with Tavernier, Goldson and my nomination Sakala, whose energy and directness were so refreshing. I actually felt Sands turned in another competent performance and is starting to settle in quite well. So pleased for Arfield. Our midfield was quite wasteful at times, I can't remember Kamara making so many misplaced passes. I think Calvin Bassey's form is becoming a little concerning and we need to find a way to coax his confidence back to life. I'd like to see Balogun or Helander back in central defence, with Bassey competing for the LB role again.
  5. When directors are interviewed there's always potential for generalities to overwhelm detail but give Bisgrove his due, he's never shy to talk about specific targets and benchmarks. I like high energy people like James Bisgrove and Ross Wilson, who see the importance of building teams with quality and experience if they themselves are going to deliver the headline growth we so badly need. You can see the cobwebs retreating before them.
  6. You're right Gonzo. The only thing I'd add is that this is a process of years rather than months and not everything needing done can be at the front of the queue. Revenue generation had to be the priority but they need to be careful not to allow customer service to lag too far behind.
  7. Ross County 1 Rangers 3 FGS - Fashion Sakala
  8. I'll be delighted if you're still delighted at the end of this season.
  9. You're right, the margins between good and bad performances can be very thin. I just take the view that being pilloried by the support never results in anyone playing better.
  10. Hurray, John Lundstram's turn is over. Seriously, why do we do this to ourselves.
  11. Frustrating game to watch, probably more so to play in but little will be gained by admonishing the 3 or 4 who deserve it. On the positive side, 3 more points in the bag, Alex Lowry shows that Friday wasn't a flash in the pan, Fashion Sakala by far the best player on the park and, best of all, Ryan Jack back strutting about the Ibrox pitch.
  12. Too many playing too safe and too slow. Again, just like the Aberdeen game, we fail to make any changes to a structure that isn't working. Not encouraging, we hope for better.
  13. By George, I think you might have stumbled on something .... the truth 😉
  14. It's unclear how much of the Patterson transfer fee was payable up front and how much of a delay was negotiated for subsequent instalments. We may have the full transfer value on the balance sheet but, as you know better than most, cashflow is the real key for Rangers.
  15. Shocker about Iannis Hagi. But mainly it's a shocker for him and we should all be sending our support for his safe recovery. On the other hand, if this really is Ryan Jack back at last then things are looking up big time.
  16. The incentive for Hearts is money versus no money and they have bills to pay like everyone else.
  17. Being circumspect about signings is exactly what I want from our manager. The aim is to conclude deals at the best price and time - you can't do that if you're signalling intentions to your market. We should be happy to have left behind the profligate mistakes of the past.
  18. If a deal is done it will inevitably be a last-minute/blink-first affair.
  19. For the first time I find myself looking beyond the manager for the leadership of our footballing operation. At only 37 years old he shows real leadership qualities and the relationship between him and GvB seems the critical link in our chain. That said, I've always wondered if Wilson's strength of personality was a irritation to Gerrard and might have played a role in the suddenness of his departure - we'll never know of course, only speculating.
  20. Hopefully they'll check his other equipment while he's there.
  21. OK OK no need to rub it in. 😂 Besides it doesn't matter how much or how little shit there is, it's still shit.
  22. One correct score in 20-odd matches ... I'm really quite shit at this.
  23. Rangers 3 Livingston 0 FGS - Itten
