  1. Yes indeed. It should be shut down tighter than a duck's arse and every penny should be held captive for the foreseeable future. The club could do with painting a realistic picture for the fans too, most of whom haven't nearly grasped the seriousness of this situation. There should be no more daft talk about transfers unless it's a sale. We are standing on the brink of re-running the pain of eight years ago unless the board screws down the hatches - tight.
  2. I think you're affording us rather more influence than we have in these matters. Whether we endorse it or refute it will matter not a single iota. It will either be officially recorded for posterity as a league title or it will not. We still have Celtic fans pursuing their narrative that Sevco FC is a new club with zero trophies. How's that going for them? If you think the world is holding its breath to see how we describe the outcome of this season then you're very much mistaken. Everyone already knows how it will be - we will say it was never won fairly and they will say it was. And the world will keep on turning.
  3. Are you suggesting we create our own private narrative or pretending there is a cat's chance in hell of dictating a wider narrative? Don't you think the other side has shown itself adept at establishing their own narrative, in the sure knowledge that the media will cement it in the wider public before you can spell "gifted". Maybe we can just use language freely in any way we choose, without yet another set of directives about how the speak or think - tu ne pense pas?
  4. You've nailed that perfectly. Title number nine will be held up as their greatest ever achievement.
  5. I can't understand why Rangers isn't already locking away the chequebook and taking every step possible to minimise cash outflow. More companies go to the wall in challenging times due to hesitation than the challenge itself. It's for situations like this that companies carry a cash reserve. Rangers, as far as I can see, has no reserve, other than soft loan commitments. Such commitments can no longer be guaranteed because every director whose wealth is founded on his business will also be under pressure. With no end in sight to current restrictions, what Rangers is effectively doing at the moment is bleeding cash. The danger is that, by the time it becomes clear how long it will be before income streams are flowing again, Rangers may be in existential difficulties. I have no insight into Rangers' operating finances but, if it were me, I'd be assuming no crowds (ST income) before (say) October and ruthlessly minimising outgoings between now and then, regardless of the emotional stuff about laying off staff. Any other strategy is irresponsible. I spent my business life in the oil industry, where there is a constant cycle of boom of bust and if you didn't make provisions for and react early to hard times, you likely went to the wall. Rangers don't normally operate in an environment like this and it worries me we may not have the required survival instincts. Far too much attention is being given to the SPFL and awarding titles. Of much greater concern to me is the condition Rangers could be in six months from now.
  6. That is a great question. Absolutely no idea what the answer is though.
  7. It has to be second leg against Bayern Munich in 1972. What a team, what a support. The sheer scale of an 80,000 crowd, the scale of the opposition, the revenge for 1967. Haven't seen anything like it since. 48 years ago yesterday.
  8. There's no way in this world I am going to believe a media corps, with a track record of compliance as long as your arm, has suddenly changed the habits of a lifetime. These are journalists who wouldn't know an original thought if it bit them on the arse. They're taking their lead on this from somewhere and it's clear no one knows or is prepared to acknowledge where that is. If you think these snakes have suddenly sprouted legs then good luck to you.
  9. Making a pitch for Doncaster's job.
  10. Probably the first thoughtful post on the entire affair.
  11. I've seen it all now. Rangers fans looking for succour in the ramblings of Sportsound, as if the world was holding its breath to see what Billy Dodds or Tom (didn't he do ever such a good job) English would say next. Seriously, if you're going to clutch at straws at least find one that floats. No one listens to Sportsound, least of all the SPFL. No one cares what they say. Sportsound reflects anti-Rangers sentiment, it doesn't create it. Sportsound is an echo chamber designed to fill your head with shite and make sure people don't accidentally think for yourselves. Does anyone seriously believe Tom English would be passing time in the backwater of Scottish media if he was wise or insightful. Forget Sportsound. It's irrelevant, a distraction, a signpost to nowhere.
  12. Like you said yesterday, it's remarkable how many people revel in listening to trash like Sportsound. I think having @26th of foot make that sacrifice and occasionally report the findings is more than enough. This line by line stuff is as bad as the real thing ... allegedly.
  13. All these rats are now concerned the truth might come out so they're rushing to absolve themselves of any blame. Cormack has had a long time during which he's been complicit in keeping that truth under wraps.
  14. I preferred the old idea that you got a testimonial for ten years of service. There would be precious few testimonials on that basis these days .... but surely that's the point.
  15. That's a horrendous idea. If you start out in these matters by saying what you want to achieve and quantifying the benefits then there's a very real danger someone might actually deliver them by accident.
  16. So the buck gets passed and the coverup is complete.
  17. I kinda thought that might be the case. Another of your cracking finds.
  18. It's at the same time surprising and unsurprising.
  19. Another stunning exposé of the subtleties of Scottish footballs unique brand of organised corruption. Maybe some of this WILL survive into posterity.
  20. Dives for cover
  21. But we all know it's never in what they say and always in why they say it. Perhaps they're more uncertain than I am that the SPFL wants the title to go to Parkhead? Maybe they see an opportunity for a more committed Celtic man to take Doncaster's place? Whatever it is, there WILL be a reason.
  22. It´s not about a consensus with the BBC as you mistakenly quoted. It´s about taking advantage of an important platform on a weekend when the SPFL will be looking to contain the narrative and if possible, between Sportsound and your Sunday press, kill it. It´s about exploiting the set of circumstances that currently exists as best we can. We need our voice heard in a debate that for once we may have some support (consensus) amongst those who will probably be on the programme and we have a long charge sheet to walk them through. As Gaffer said..."Only sustained pressure..." . Generally.......You want different results, open la vista and don´t keep doing or shouting the same thing. The mechanics of it would not be a studio visit, it would be a phone call. You appear to be in a bad way. Take a break, breathe deeply, drink a beer, try to get some sleep. Not everything is all about you.
  23. Not for one minute are they supporting what Rangers says. What they're doing is applying pressure to the SPFL so that it remembers which side its bread is buttered when it comes to deciding where the title goes.
