  1. Always good to beat that lot at anything.
  2. See when I side the club ticks the boxes...
  3. A bit, aye. If we maintained some of Struth's philosophies, I doubt we could compete nowadays. It's the same as a lot of things, you pick the best bits, ignore the ones that aren't beneficial and try to stay relevant/competitive.
  4. I'd say most posters on this thread have covered one or two of the same things. It's what the majority of Bears think and also how the neutral observers (noted when reading foreign articles) and our enemies see us: Protestant and British. Some Bears don't want to be associated with these two things, others are just a bit uncomfortable with it but most are quite proud of it.
  5. Having mainly attended matches on supporters buses, I've witnessed many examples of fans who treat football as a side issue. Supporting Rangers is just an excuse for a day out and a piss up. I've never really understood that but it's certainly not uncommon amongst our support.
  6. I'm not really sure. So many to choose from. Wee Barella's goal for Inter v Sampdoria a few weeks ago was an absolute peach - the type of goal I dream about scoring. Lovely first touch and then BLAM!
  7. Maybe because there is no fixed identity. It evolves alongside society (which has changed significantly in most of our lifetimes) and on top of that, the club means different things to different people. For me, Rangers FC is a football club, first and foremost but is also a sporting focal point for many Scots of a Protestant background and more so recently (thanks to devolution and the rise of Scottish nationalism), Unionist Scots. It's also about winning.
  8. Gaby Logan, Gary Lineker and Gary Neville will have to be so brave to cover matches over there, given their love of equality and human rights. So very brave. Thoughts and prayers etc.
  9. Don't get me started on Damon Albarn! 🤣
  10. Let's face it, Presbyterianism is dead on its arse and everything that used to be distinctly Scottish is going the same way. Rangers 'brand' was linked to both. We all need to be more emotional, rely on others, play the victim and behave like entitled children nowadays. Gone are the days of thrift, tight-fistedness, taking responsibility, getting on with it and pulling your socks up. Give it 100 years and we'll be almost identical to Celtc.
  11. We're Rangers supporters, we can blame whoever the Hell we like (usually one of our own, which sets us apart from that lot).
  12. It was stated recently he won't be back until January, so it's unlikely we'll see him in December.
  13. The videos of the 'fake fans' hired by the Qataris are most amusing. Hopefully there's some decent football on show - I doubt the group stages will be of much interest but it'll get better as the tournament progresses.
  14. He wasn't in great form prior to the injury. He is a real talent but I'm not sure where he fits into the team. GvB will probably stick him or Tillman on the right (both are wasted there).
  15. Combined with the injuries, I think we'd be down to about four available players. 😀
  16. You can have a drink with workmates and also work hard - the two aren't exclusive. However, I do think a lot of the core values aren't what they used to be. More of a facade than anything of substance nowadays.
  17. Stuff watching that. Staring out the window at the pouring rain would be less depressing.
  18. Perhaps. Whatever Rangers once stood for has been diluted significantly due to various factors. Values no longer truly matter in the world of commerce.
  19. I think we've gone beyond being able to repair our 'brand' reputation in Scotland. Too many enemies around to fix (or bother fixing) it. In England, I don't think they care much at all about Scottish football and the same goes for Europe. We're an irrelevance. It is what it is. The club tick the relevant boxes and the support have improved in many respects but with such big crowds, there will always be the occasional incident. We have been too ready to accept accusations, as a club and a support, without fighting back and that has partly lead us to where we are today. And Alex Ferguson is a bitter old git, who has never forgiven the club for his sharp exit.
  20. We can't rely on Jack and Lundstram has been average this season.
  21. Social media. Rarely hear stuff like this on supporters buses or in pubs.
  22. Aye. This board are good at keeping things quiet but not that good.
  23. There's only one statement I want them to make but the longer we don't get it, the more I think GvB will still be manager when league fixtures recommence.
  24. Qatar 0 - 2 Ecuador England 2 - 0 Iran Senegal 0 - 2 Netherlands USA 1 - 1 Wales Argentina 3 - 0 Saudi Arabia Denmark 1 - 0 Tunisia Mexico 1 - 0 Poland France 3 - 0 Australia Morocco 0 - 1 Croatia Germany 3 - 1 Japan Spain 3 - 0 Costa Rica Belgium 2 - 0 Canada Switzerland 1 - 0 Cameroon Uruguay 1 - 0 South Korea Portugal 1 - 0 Ghana Brazil 3 - 0 Serbia - JOKER
  25. The board coming out and backing him might be seen as a vote of confidence scenario. And we know how those usually end up. One wonders what Park and co are thinking just now, certainly...
