  1. But then people like you will think I have an agenda.
  2. So why wait until George Floyd's death to start taking the knee?
  3. You keep saying that but also accuse everyone who has done it of being racist. Some of the examples you posted were moronic with racist undetones, undoubtedly but not everyone who questions taking the knee, the fist clench or BLM is a racist.
  4. One would hope social media would allow everyone to air their views and make society a fairer place but as with anything involving a lot of people, a minority ruin it for everyone else. I very much doubt other clubs in Europe haven't had players being criticised by their own fans for similar reasons. Some people seem unable to differentiate opposing views regarding BLM with actual racism, which doesn't help.
  5. Robertson's statement makes it easy for the press to single us out though (and let's face it, the Scottish hacks don't need much of an excuse).
  6. There's a difference between giving someone pelters and racial abuse.
  7. That's a bit of a bummer.
  8. Although I agree with the sentiment, I think the statement could have been worded better.
  9. You should report it to the Police then.
  10. I didn't see that one, Cammy. More an example of stupidity than racism.
  11. Although the comments you have posted are disagreeable, I'm not seeing any racist abuse.
  12. We seem to have reached an impasse on BLM. Some people choose to ignore the movement's own stated political ideology and others don't want to be associated with it. I said when the BLM protests first occurred in the UK that bringing US race issues here would be detrimental and divisive and I think this thread has proved my point.
  13. Mack1950 hates the entire city of Manchester because GMP decided to turn off a big TV screen in 2008.
  14. That would be amiss, given the openly stated, overtly political, aims of BLM.
  15. I support players sticking up for themselves against racism and support anti-racism initiatives. I don't support the divisive and overtly political nature of the BLM movement. Social media has, is and always will be a horror show of ignorance and polarisation - anyone expecting otherwise will only ever be disappointed.
  16. Blithely accepting something could also be viewed as ignorant. People have a right to argue against things they disagree with. Ignoring things you think are divisive or one-sided isn't good. I think BLM is divisive. We are importing US issues into the UK and that isn't going to end well.
  17. Kennedy is better off elsewhere. No loss to Rangers.
  18. For someone who prefers critiquing things, rangers_syntax is remarkably accepting of other things. The OP is irrelevant. It's too late to keep Rangers out of it.
  19. From what I read, a few people made comments on his Instagram page, most of which questioned his taking the knee and the clenched first - some were reasonably tactful, others less so. I didn't see anyone giving him racist abuse.
  20. I'm one of the few Rangers supporters who would prefer Remembrance Day was kept out of football, unless a match is actually played on 11th November. I'm the same with this. Does anyone think a racist football fan is going to change their views because players have taken the knee? If anything, I suspect it will further entrench their position. For eternity then.
  21. I don't think that's certain at all but the thread has resulted in a debate, where the comments have mainly been reasonable, so the intention you perceive has been unsuccessful. Debate should always be openly encouraged.
  22. I disagree. It's easier to spot because of social media, which has a nasty habit of magnifying problems. Being lectured about white privilege won't improve race relations, in my opinion.
  23. In the UK?
  24. Racist acts and abuse are illegal, so a victim has the option to report an incident to the Police. I agree but some of the criticisms relate to the BLM movement itself, rather than anti-racism. BLM has an agenda which includes Israel/Palestine, the nuclear family, police funding and various other things which aren't directly linked to race issues.
  25. I keep seeing people saying that taking the knee and the clenched fist aren't political. They obviously only have a very basic grasp of what 'political' means. Reading some of the comments from fans and players on social media demonstrates that we have some fans who should probably comment less and also that social media, in general, is having a negative impact on society. Genuine question - how long is the taking the knee gesture going to continue in Scottish football? I note Serie A have chosen not to participate.
