Some interesting clips from days gone by. http://www.britishpathe.com/results.php?search=glasgow+rangers

Strange how the make-up of both teams seem to be changing. Not long ago they were lucky if they had 1 or 2 British players in their line-up, while we had perhaps 7/8 Scottish/Ulster. A quick count on Sunday they had more British players than us.

It's the Manager and the Players who will get the stick if we are not successful on the park. The majority of the customers will never blame the owner.
-
Thinking more of what he meant to the Supporters as a player, and not wanting his memory being tarnished by failure as manager.
-
Hopefully I'm wrong, but I keep thinking of John Greig.

I would say we are missing a couple of hammer throwers. The team from the East End are the ones with the Hammer Throwers as has been shown in the last 2 encounters. My criticism of WS would be he complains of a small squad, but then does not utilise the squad as he should.

I wish we would face the fact, since 2nd January they have been improving, they are full of confidence, and have some decent players. Taking into account we are not improving, our confidence seems to be dented, and we have lost our best goalscorer. Although I still think we will win the League, I would not like to put money on it.

I agree he needs games, a loan deal would have served him better.

STV Sport understands Lee McCulloch has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. The Rangers midfielder, who has been playing with a cyst on the joint since the beginning of the campaign, requires an operation which will sideline him until June. http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/rangers/226759-lee-mcculloch-ruled-out-for-remainder-of-the-season/

Congratulations all round. He certainly likes the name William !!

Anyway back to McCulloch, I hope he is playing on Sunday, nobody else does the dirty work.

I may be wrong but was he not editor of the selltic view at one time?

A Possible Explanation Of The Webster Mystery
chilledbear replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
It would explain being able to play so often for DU last season, I just don't believe the 'not got the bottle' theory, he has played in the EPL and for Scotland. We will see how often he plays for Hearts. What I don't get if this explanation is correct, is why Rangers wouldn't pay, it seems a small amount for an international centre half. -
I noticed the Webster Thread further down the Board, and remembered reading on Follow Follow a possible reason for the Webster no show at Rangers. If it is allowed I will re-produce the post here, make of it what you will.... Rangers tried to sign Webster from Hearts in summer of 2006, but Romanov refused to allow it. It was then decided to use a loophole in Article 17 of FIFA's Regulations, allowing him to cancel his contact with Hearts and sign for a Club in another country. An agreement was then reached that he would go to Wigan for a few months, before coming to Rangers, as a way around the Romanov problem. On 4 January 2007, he signed for Rangers on a 6 month loan deal, from Wigan. Romanov complained to UEFA and FIFA about our loan deal, but they okayed it. However Romanov, refused to accept this and appealed the decision. As a result, FIFA decided that he cancelled his contract with Hearts without just cause and without giving 15 days notice. He was ordered to pay Hearts £625,000 compensation and suspended by FIFA for the 1st 2 games of the 2007/08 Season. Webster expected Rangers to pay that fine, as part of the transfer, but they refused and he took the huff. In Jan 2008, the Court of Arbitration for Sport decided on appeal to reduce his compensation payment to Hearts to £150,000. Rangers still did not pay that fine, Webster took a hefty hit and was raging at the Club's attitude. The loophole in Article 17 was obviously not his idea and he possibly has a point. Apparently many within Ibrox sympathised with him, but it doesn't excuse his reluctance to play for 4 years.

A quick overview now the dreaded window has closed
chilledbear replied to rbr's topic in Rangers Chat
The bit about Murray........probably the only reason he would sell would be he is bored and fed up with Rangers FC, and if he is not, then it is up to the Supporters to make him so. But as long as we are successful on the park most are quite happy. -

January 2011 Transfer Window - Healy, Diouf and Bartley IN

He will be an improvement on Webster just by being available every game. Told last night by a Sheffield United s/t holder he looked quality in the Championship. -
January 2011 Transfer Window - Healy, Diouf and Bartley IN

I wonder how much money we have actually spent this January ? Is the fee received for KM still in Walters kitty? Has the wages of our departed players, covered the incoming ones. Blackburn must be paying a percentage of EHDs wage, too high for our pockets.
