Mate, I see your points, but the Old Firm basically make the SPL and if you take them out of it, then compare our league to the Championship what have you got? I'll tell you... you've got the Championship having bigger stadiums, bigger supports and undoubtedly better football over the coarse of a season. The SPL is at best like the bottom half of the Championship with a couple of decent, but not great EPL teams in it.

But I dont think that is the case at all. Your average SPL game is as entertaining, and probably more so, than your average championship game (probably even your average EPL game). The standard will not be too far behind for say, the top 3 in Scotland and 6 in England, middle 3 and 6 and bottom.

Attendances mean nothing at all other than more people going, there is nothing intrinsic about a high attendance that means a good game, and the stats above show that the higher attendances can be basically put down to higher populations. It is simply not a case of more people are going because the football is better, it is a case of more people are going because more people are there too go. A cracking game infront of 5000 people is still a cracking game, a shite game infront of 22'000 is not suddenly a good game, it is still shite.

Rangers and celtic make up 1/6 of the league. take away the top 4 championship sides and what are you left with? Some decent sides and a whole host of gash, pretty much the same as up here.

I just realized i am using the word shite alot, sorry if that reads as angry man syndrome, it is just the way i speak :D

NL, you're getting a bit bogged down with the attendance thing. I didn't actually say that larger attendances in the Championship make it a better league, but I still think it's a better league outwith the OF factor. The SPL is already a total nothing in football leagues & if you take us and the other lot out of it, it's like kazak-f'n-stan or something. Tumbleweed & goats, sorry, sheep..

Personally i think those falling over themselves to defend Boyd's choice of club need to have a look at themselves and ponder why it upsets them so much if some people think it's a terrible choice

He's gone and he isn't coming back. Not with Murray at the helm anyway and if we ever did get a new owner, i'd hope we'd be aiming slightly higher than Kris Boyd

.

Just had a look at myself - I'm over-weight and not exactly stunning, but Middlesbrough are probably still a better club than any of the clubs in the SPL outside the OF.

You can 'unhelpful' my posts all you like but i find it truly staggering that some people are happy to dumb down Rangers and big up Middlesbrough simply to defend Kris Boyd's honour

Another fascinating insight from Silverspurs

23 pages of this token, pointless debate about the SPL vs the Championship. If a player leaves AC Milan to join Wigan is that a step up because the EPL is better than Serie A nowadays? Only one question matters; who are the bigger club - Rangers or Middlesbrough?

So tell me why certain Rangers fans are falling over themselves to argue against Rangers and for Boyd? And yet i'm the one accused of putting feelings for one player above feelings for the club!

As we speak Murray is heading for his vineyard to hide amongst the grapes for Silverspurs has him in his sights ,,,,,,,

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minty has had us all over, bank included, again. But he does have previous, so no one should be to surprised.

The question is, what can we do to redress the situation.

I would suggest that the supporters powers that be, get together and request a root and branch report of how the club is run and financed, i.e. who takes money out of the club and who puts money in.

We should endeavour to have the club run in a self sustaining manner, all services from catering to stewarding owned and run by Rangers FC, with all profits going directly into the club and not some fly by nights hip pocket.

The alternative of doing nothing , is a recipe for disaster of our own making.

As AJ stated we are a going concern paying our way, now is the time to unite while we are in reasonable health, prevention is better than cure.

There are surely enough people in various supporters organisations, to at least put up a reasonable and acceptable business model to what we have at the moment, by that I mean keeping profit in house rather than it leaving by the front door.

The above post from a guy who constantly tells us that Murray is King , and also that as we are solvent there is nothing wrong at Ibrox ,but now he wants Murray to open the books to who ever to have a wee peak and decide what's best for the club , someone's been at the vino a wee bit early today
