Boyd agrees Boro move

Recommended Posts

I wonder if folks would be quite so forgiving if Kenny Miller or Kyle Lafferty rejected a £3.75 million move, sat tight until his contract ran out, then left for free

I guess you'll say Boyd earned the right to be 'forgiven' - Maybe you're right. Hmm.

We needed Boyd in the team to score goals. Lafferty brings absolutely nothing to the team and Miller I reckon is valued at more than £3.75m. He had a tremendous season for us and it could've been better if he had some composure about his finishing.

Think you're being incredibly optimistic if you think we could get more than £3.75 million for Miller lol. I doubt we could get more than £2 million for him given his age and only having 1 year left on his contract (doesn't everyone? sigh)

I am probably been slightly optimistic but if Miller had been in the EPL and scored the amount he did for us coupled with the performances he put in his club would've demanded a large transfer fee.

Playing in Scotland means that transfer fees are a fraction of the EPL.

Maybe his bluff back-fired on him? He was waiting for a big increase from us or for Birmingham to come back in with a 30K a week offer and neither happened? Not only that, but Smith comes out and says he's leaving before any deal is in place, so he's no option but to go.

.

Sounds about right.

Btw, I wonder if anyone at Rangers spoke to Boyd about the Brum offer before it was accepted or if Boyd was only spoken to afterwards? If it was the latter, then that would probably piss off a lot of players that were happy where they were.

Naismith on Boyd's move:

"If people are saying it's not a step up for him then that'll be his motivation"

Very nice Steven though being a Rangers player n all, i would've much preferred you to say something like "Middlesbrough obviously aren't as big a club as Rangers but........." instead of pandering to the idea that we are now a nothing club

Anyone know how much he is going to be on at Boro?

I agree with Zappa that they are more of a Premier Club than some of the teams that were in that division last season (Wigan, Hull, Portsmouth). But they are a mid table EPL side at best. Their fans seem to turn up when it suits them. You cant say that for Birmingham or even West Brom, they both fill their stadiums every week.

Ascender could be right also his bluff backfiring.

Apparently £28K per week. Hardly a huge sum but I guess the bonuses will inflate that and he'll also have something written for a decent increase if they're promoted.

Naismith himself is not saying Middlesboro are a bigger club than us.

Aye, he seems to be saying that if people are saying Middlesborough aren't as big a club it'll motivate him to try and do extra well there. IE the criticism will spur him on. Seems fairly harmless.
