I'm unsure if bringing 2 more teams into the SPL will add anything. Just 2 "poorer" teams to dilute the quality further.

.

If you were talking about Queen of the South, Cowdenbeath and Ross Country then id agree but I wouldnt say it would be 2 poorer teams if it was the likes of Dunfermline, Dundee, Falkirk, Raith and Partick as they were previous SPL regulars and there is nothing between them and the likes of St Mirren, St johnstone and Hamilton. Having these teams being down a division is what keeps them from getting better as they will be playing a higher standard in the SPL rather than Div 1 and have higher crowds so revenue increases.

That sounds interesting to me BD.

In saying that though, I really don't see how the league format will change/improve the quality overall though. More or fewer teams really won't make a difference if the game is fundamentally flawed in its organisation per se.

Agreed. That's why I mentioned short term. The only way to improve the quality is to increase the cash, which seems unlikely any time soon, or to make changes at the grass roots. Changes have been made to some extent, but the impact may not be seen for 10-15 years, and there's no guarantee that the impact will be that significant.
