But if you look at Frankie's team, there are 5 full internationals in there. With the rules on under-21s in the squad for league games, surely it woukd be a bit churlish to then complain if there are too many playing!

Wenger has done it with the league cup down south. Teams have been known to rest key players for the League ahead of European games so I would be shocked if there was any legal requirement for the strongest XI to play. If nothing else, it comes down to the manager's judgement as to who is the strongest XI at the time.

 

Ah well, I thought I'd heard something about that somewhere at some point.

There has been a bit of controversy about teams who have nothing to play for fielding weaker sides at the end of the season against teams fighting relegation. Not sure of any actual laws against it, I think Fulham did it prior to their Europa Cup final. Means certain strugglers are playing against full-strength opponents, whilst others are playing against kids.
